'Ello chaps! Junibacken is a wonderous playland come to life. This is where the stories of Pippi Longstonging come to life. Junibacken is a children's museum dedicated to the literature of children's author Astrid Lindgren. The attention to detail is impeccable. It is located on the island of Djurgården in the centre of Stockholm, Sweden, and IS part of the Stockholm Pass attractions pass. From Wikipedia: Junibacken contains the largest children's bookstore in Sweden. The lockers in the entrance hall are unusual in that each is in the form of a giant book-spine, featuring world classics such as Treasure Island and The Jungle Book. Other main attractions include a Storybook Square, a mock public square where each house is devoted to a separate Swedish children's author (other than Lindgren), from the earliest writers such as Elsa Beskow to recent writers such as Sven Nordqvist. The square ends at a mock Vimmerby railway station. The station also presents framed copies of Lindgren memorabilia, including a glowing letter of praise for Lindgren from then president of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev. From the station visitors then take a theme-train ride through the world of Astrid Lindgren's books, with one "stage setting" for each of her well-known works, such as Madicken, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, Ronia the Robber's Daughter, Emil i Lönneberga, and The Brothers Lionheart. The train ride ends at a half-side reconstruction of Villa Villekulla, the home of Lindgren's most well-known character, Pippi Longstocking. It also includes a theatre, restaurant and temporary exhibition space. The temporary exhibition space is usually devoted to a single author or character and normally remains in place for 11 months. Among the most popular of the temporary exhibitions have been Pettson and Findus, and Trazan och Banarne.

Awesome! Had a great day here. The longest I waited for a ride was 20 minutes. Everything there…read morefelt safe and well made. If you love thrill rides, this is a great place for you!

Issues started with their website which has a payment system that wouldn't accept any of the four US cards I tried. So I bought tickets in person which were $5 more each. What they didn't tell us is you lose the two Jetpasses (line bypass) that come with online tickets and there's no way to buy them separately, and the park experience is way worse without these passes. Lines were pretty bad, and Jetpass made it worse- several times enough people were using Jetpass that the regular line wouldn't move for several turns. After an hour and a half we'd made it on to two rides- we bailed on our first try because the full line is hidden until you make it inside (mouse coaster). This was midweek summer so crowded but not extreme, but one roller coaster was broken so more people were going on other rides. Then at our third and fourth attempts, we waited 45 minutes each only to be told when we were near the front that the ride had broken. Nothing to make up for it like a pass to come back to the front of the line, just that we could wait an unknown amount of time or go somewhere else. In the second case we were literally strapped in to the Catapult only to be told to leave. So now three of the rides were broken and we'd waited in another 90 minutes of lines to get nothing out of it. At this point the kids were sick of it and just wanted to leave. Final damage- 3 hours, two rides for each of four people, $228. Over $28 a ride.

Not that you'll find crazy rides but there's entertainment for kids with some rides, plus not to mention the lounging areas, the animals, and so much more. Came here walking from our hotel , you can catch a bus, and it was just beautiful. I highly recommend a visit. This can be an almost all day thing or just come for a few hours like we didn't.

After entering we decided to walk the path up to the park instead of buying a ticket for the funicular. It took roughly 10 minutes on a slight incline. Skansen was huge and does take time to go from place to place. Initially we wandered from building to building and many were not staffed or only viewable from the outside. While it was interesting to read the posted signs it wasn't too interesting. At the Oktorp farmstead, we finally found the first staffed location and got to see and learn about dying of yarn. Here we also learned which buildings were staffed and from that point forward gave us a plan of how to tackle Skansen and made the visit much more enjoyable. We had a great conversation about politics in the People's House which was very appropriate and compared it against present day in both our countries. Many parallels. We learned more about typical farm life in the Skane Farmstead while stooping low inside the house and that led to the Delsbo Farmstead. Delsbo was quite the opposite as it was ornately decorated with detailed wall paintings paid for by the well to do family per the staff. I highly encourage anyone visiting to engage with the staff as they were very enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge of the period or activities that went on in that particular farmstead, building, church, etc. We skipped seeing all the animals they kept towards the back of Skansen as well as the aquarium. Overall spent over 2 hours here and likely could've spent more if more buildings were staffed and open. Glad the weather held throughout our visit.
