From start to finish, Jessi, Colin and Max went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of the recording process was seamless and professional. First and foremost, the studio itself was top-notch. They have an amazing amount of options of microphones to choose from, I went with a Sennheiser 416. Additionally, the studio's acoustics were excellent, providing a clean and crisp sound without any unwanted background noise, we used studio A mostly. The entire recording process was enjoyable and stress-free, I was there a lot so that's saying something- Overall I can't recomend them enough. If you're looking for a recording studio that will deliver then make sure you work with them.

Tightrope Recording, and their owner Max, did not live up to their promises. They promised a great…read morerecording and finished mixes for one price of $1500. They did a great job recording, but sent us home with only the rough cut, and no finished mixes. They claimed that it took a lot of effort to set up for a multi-instrument band and they had to bring in extra help, thus extra cost. They had no more money or time to finish the mixes. Max had the audacity to say that each song would be at least another $350 to finish, even though he promised us finished mixes when we spoke on the phone. I feel that this was unscrupulous practice. Make sure you get your promises in writing from Max, or he may just try to swindle you.

The cost of audio recording has come down considerably in the last twenty years, of course. But…read moreeven if you're not paying huge dollars, you want to make sure you're getting the best possible quality. For my business, Joyride Studio provides the ideal balance of price and quality. Actually, the quality I receive from them is as good as that I get from any studio in town at any price, and I've worked with some of the best. I use Joyride almost exclusively to record voiceover audio for radio and television commercials, and I have never been disappointed. They have an excellent, sound-conditioned isolation booth for vocals and voiceover. Of course, Joyride is topnotch for music recording. You only have to look at their website to see the many top acts that have chosen them. The studio is a bit west of downtown, but not far at all; it's about a 25-minute drive from the Watertower Monument on Michigan Avenue.

Recently used Mystery Street Recording Company, and Joe Tessone provided excellent service…read more Specifically, Mystery Street was able to transfer audio files from 40-year-old cassette tapes to digital. Joe cleaned up the files and "restored" the audio quality. He provided both MP3 files and higher quality audio files. Getting the files was easy- Joe provided us with a download link for quick access. Pricing was reasonable for the quality of work and turnaround time. For a fee of $100/tape in addition to the hourly rate, we received expedited service.

How to care for and train it, and how to play it. I went from shower singing to singing in public, performing in public within a year and my confidence and my ability grew along with my repertoire. I've been taking singing lessons for the past 6 weeks and Robert is great. I have never sang in my…read moreentire life (well not in anyway that i thought sounded like singing)- and he has been incredibly confident, kind, and unbelievably knowledgeable in helping me understand where my blocks are (self confidence, sigh) and teaching me that - actually- I CAN sing. My singing lessons thus far have been 1 part knowledge about how the voice works, 1 part practicing technique (and we are starting at the step 1 that is for sure), and 1 part therapy. I am genuinely in awe watching and listening to him do his job. I feel very lucky that I found him as my voice teacher (incredibly enough he was the only voice teacher i found on yelp that actually called me back- it seems it was meant to be). What is particularly cool is that he records all our sessions and then sends them that week for me to practice with over the following weeks and months. Also he makes pretty incredible (albeit interesting) suggestions on how to move through certain blocks (ie go to a shooting range to open my root chakra - which i am fully planning on doing - even as i HATE guns). he just has the knowledge and experience it takes to really make this possible for me- which is really exciting. i couldn't recommend a voice teacher more.
