A fund-raiser held for and by hot, ridiculously fit, ready to party ultra-runners and triathletes with a full bar, great music and yes, I did have a good time. You would too. It was a blast. The space is gorgeous- a little hidden. Once you get past the secured entry, up the stairs (feels like a speakeasy entrance) there is a doorman. I amend, a FINE doorman in waistcoat and fedora. This fine doorman will catch you if you trip over your own feet (ahem). There is a coat check- you need this because who wants to party in a North Face Parka? Then you really get to enjoy: Music, swanky, really comfortable lounge seating, a bright full bar with cool bartenders serving sophisticated cocktails, space for dancing, fantastic lighting, romantic drapes, huge cinematic windows... If you are a rock star looking to perform and even record, this can be accommodated. If you instead favor a DJ playing- the music will keep the party going (we were here until 3). The recording equipment is up to date and they use the latest software versions of Pro Tools and Logic. The Chief Engineer is Cayex Illah. Cayex has a thorough resume with Grammy nominations and multi-platinum records under his belt. He is a veteran in the business and has the skill set to make your music/project sound AMAZING! Crystal, clear quality! Cayex is also a producer and artist which I think helps him to be understanding and able to specifically relate to a music artist's needs. My band just finished recording our first record With Michael Namoff at The Hatch…read more When we first started looking at studios to record at, aside from pricing our biggest concern was getting the sound we heard in our heads. Some producers/engineers focus on one genre of music and, while they excel at that, they don't always have insight into other areas. Not Michael. He's an active musician in the Chicago scene with his own band, and has worked with rappers, singer songwriters, acoustic country duos and anything in between, so we knew he would be able to draw from all kinds of things. As a drummer, the live room is amazing. Everything just sounds good. Our band was going for a more natural feel and sound, and that's exactly what we got. If you want to nerd out on equipment and mic selection then this is the place for you. They've even expanded from recording/practice spot to having local and touring bands come in to play live while being recorded/filmed. If you need a place for musician run by musicians, this is it.
