Red, White, Rosé, sweet wine, liquors, Crèmants. They have it all. The tasting room is a very classy and modern affair. Friendly staff with great knowledge of their products. Even our Bulldog was allowed in the tasting room/shop. Thanks for that. We sampled three glasses each. Three samples a person are free. How cool is that. The Riesling Cuvée des Seigneurs was a real treat. Got one of that, two of their fruity liquors and a bottle of aged sweet wine (a bit more pricey, but goes well with Foie Gras!). And of course some of their Crèmants: The Brut and the Crémant d'Alsace Rosé. Prices here are - for this quality - very fair. A really enjoyable visit.

Weinbach's Cuvee St Catherine Schlossberg is a grand cru riesling you'll find on the menus of Mini Bar or Benu and for good reason. It's a beautifully floral, light and crisp wine. Think acidic enough to balance the salinity but lightness of oysters, monkfish liver and squid. Also, great for toning down the heat of the touch of serrano chile but not so sweet as to overpower those flavors. For around $50US it's not the cheap sleeper but it's definitely an excellent price performance value regardless.

We were on the way home to Switzerland, did some shopping in E.Leclerc and passed this Boutique by accident. Couldn't resist but to stop by and get some more of the good stuff. As the one in Eguisheim this also is a very nice, stylish Boutique and tasting room. Friendly and helpful staff. Our Bulldog was welcome inside as well. We didn't do a tasting though this time, we had to get going. But we bought a sixpack of Wolfberger Pink Crémant. And a sixpack of the Brut Révèrence IX. An amazing Crémant. A bit more expenisve than the regular. But only a few Euros more. And worth it. This is outstanding Crémant. It's not easily available in shops, so get some if you can get your hands on it. But of course in the Wolfberger Boutiques and Winery you'll find it. A quick stop only this time. But we got what we came for. We'll be back. Definitely.

She was very angry and was shouting that if we don't buy we pay for the tasting. We had no problem with paying for the tasting but her aggressive reaction telling us 'if you don't buy you should pay for the tasting and leave, you own my the tasting and I don't own you anything'. Pretty much there is really something wrong with this lady. I have never been shouted at and treated like this anywhere else before. Just avoid this place and spare your self the humiliation and the frustration. There are plenty of good places in the town.

It is also a great place to stock up on the local wines and whilst on a driving holiday here a while ago, I got some excellent Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling from Paul Schneider for very little money indeed.

Our tasting was conducted in a nice room where we sat and listened about the winery's history and learned about their many fine wines. Our tasting began with their cremant (sparking wine) that was very refreshing. We continued on tasting pairs of wines with identical grapes and vintages but from different parts of the valley to fully appreciate the terroir. We tasted 4 pairs including Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot noir, and gurverstraminer-a very educational and enjoyable process. We all ended up buying a few bottles to take home to enjoy in the states. Hopefully they will taste as good there as in the beautiful Alsace.

Maison Emile Beyer's shop and tasting room is conveniently located in the middle of Eguisheim. One of the cutest towns in France! In my opinion, Maison Emile Beyer gets more foot traffic than other wineries thanks to Rick Steves's recommendation and their location. You won't need an appointment and walk-ins are almost always welcome. Super convenient and the reason I ended up at Emile Beyer. I tend to go for smaller producers and less touristy, but Maison Emile Beyer saved the day on my last minute trip to Eguisheim. Our host, Luciana, was patient and poured us a couple of their wines in their outdoor courtyard. Almost everything is available on the menu to taste, you just need to ask! Overall, I didn't find as many of their wines that fits my palette, but it is always an adventure trying new wines. English is somewhat limited, but as long as you know what you like to drink, your tasting should be a breeze! I ended up purchasing some of their Cremants, which was extremely affordable (approx €7).
