Our tasting was conducted in a nice room where we sat and listened about the winery's history and learned about their many fine wines. Our tasting began with their cremant (sparking wine) that was very refreshing. We continued on tasting pairs of wines with identical grapes and vintages but from different parts of the valley to fully appreciate the terroir. We tasted 4 pairs including Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot noir, and gurverstraminer-a very educational and enjoyable process. We all ended up buying a few bottles to take home to enjoy in the states. Hopefully they will taste as good there as in the beautiful Alsace.

Maison Emile Beyer's shop and tasting room is conveniently located in the middle of Eguisheim. One of the cutest towns in France! In my opinion, Maison Emile Beyer gets more foot traffic than other wineries thanks to Rick Steves's recommendation and their location. You won't need an appointment and walk-ins are almost always welcome. Super convenient and the reason I ended up at Emile Beyer. I tend to go for smaller producers and less touristy, but Maison Emile Beyer saved the day on my last minute trip to Eguisheim. Our host, Luciana, was patient and poured us a couple of their wines in their outdoor courtyard. Almost everything is available on the menu to taste, you just need to ask! Overall, I didn't find as many of their wines that fits my palette, but it is always an adventure trying new wines. English is somewhat limited, but as long as you know what you like to drink, your tasting should be a breeze! I ended up purchasing some of their Cremants, which was extremely affordable (approx €7). If you're in town, don't miss out on the best white wine in the world! Till next time, Santé! PS make sure to taste the dry wines before the sweet!

It's a beautiful day in Pfaffenheim!…read more Made even better by the wines of Domaine Paul Humbrecht. Stopped by the winery since unlike most houses it was open. The place is actually a nice tasting room that features the barrels and feels inviting and warm. We have actually met the wife of the current owner of the winery who have told us about the wine and the vineyard and the methods they use, which is still mostly non-mechanical to care for the grapes and let us taste their wines. The tasting is free but buying their wines is totally worth it. The winery isn't present in the United States but I think it should be because their wines are unique and since 1620 the experience passed from father to son shows in the quality. We've tried most of their selection, which is pretty standard for the area, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurtztraminer, and Pinot Noir. To be hones we really liked their Gewurtz selections so we got a case there. The Riesling for our taste was too minerally but than again for others it may be just right but I guess we are too spoiled by the Finger Lakes to like something different. They have a selection of Noble Wines (which is wines made from grapes touched by Noble Rot) and those that have been stored for quite some time like 1989 Gewurztraminer vintage. Stop by you won't be disappointed.
