Julio's has been around for a long time. The owner Ryan Maloney, is an extraordinary man of great knowledge and foresight (at least for whiskies). He and his partner, Randall Berg, do a podcast that highlights their specialties. Truth be told, they are a few dollars higher than the big-box merchants within a 15 minute drive, but the eclectic selection of Scotch, whiskies, beers, wines and Hot sauces are to die for. And if you have a question Ryan is often scurrying about the store to help or chat with a customer. He is really KNOWLEDGEABLE! PS: they have a decent little cigar shop, too, with a walk-in humidor. Like a crafted cocktail, Julios mixes a nice liquor inventory with a lot of marketing, and they certainly know how to do the marketing. A couple of us came here with a local friend for a whiskey tasting event, which I believe is one of their largest events each year. That was quite well run, and one of your perks for it is a gift card towards a purchase, whether it be something you tried here that day or something else. It certainly isn't the largest inventory of products I've seen, but it's pretty substantial compared to anything else in the area. The prices were reasonable too. They also provide an app you can use for the events and for shopping. I think the app could be a bit more obvious in its navigation but is otherwise usable. read more

This used to be a favorite spot of mine but I won't be coming back as the staff is just so rude and surly. I can overlook their aloof attitudes ... the fact that they just stand in the isles talking to each other vs. helping customers ... and the overall vibe they give off that you are lucky to be shopping there. I had an interaction with a staff member who was incredibly sarcastic and just overall being a jerk for no reason this week and I said ... no more. I try to give the 'local owned' stores my business but why would I when the staff at Total Wines or Wegmans nearby is friendlier and more helpful? Julio's has a good selection ... there is no doubt about that. Their prices are around 10 - 20% higher than other nearby stores on most liquor and beer. But everything is curated well and you are absorbing the cost of a lot of the events that they do, etc. into the product cost. Julio's is a very unique liquor store with lots of programming and while their selection isn't as good as Total Wine, they have pretty high end stuff and lots of barrel selections. They were appropriately thankful for my business and (rightfully) disparaging of my purchase. We like Julio's selection and their prices aren't bad. Some of their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. And my husband and adult son have enjoyed some of their whiskey nights and that kind of thing. However, we were there Sunday (3/24/24) and the guy behind the counter was really surly. His one job is to put stuff in a bag and tell me how much it costs, while I stick my own card in the credit card machine, so really his important function is to be pleasant so customers want to return. I don't get why they would even hire someone like this. The rest of the staff is generally cold and aloof, but he was quite rude. Julio's Liquors I had heard about this place from a few friends and finally got a chance to experience it for myself. The parking lot is a decent size for the size of the building, but it was packed on Saturday (day before Easter). As you walk in, you're facing a vast wine area, but don't forget to look directly to the left as you walk in because there is a fantastic Stonewall Kitchen area. We picked up a few jars of delicious jellies. I am not a wine consumer, but I would imagine they would have almost anything to satisfy a person or a party's preference. There were many people milling about reading labels and speaking with staff. Speaking of staff, they are very visible and extremely friendly and willing to help you in anyway. Two staff members were at each register, one was ringing and the other was running to get boxes for product, yes, boxes. All of the customers I saw that day walked out with at least one box filled with alcohol. The reasons we had a box like so many other customers; selection and price. This place is competitive. They have a VAST selection and the prices were extremely competitive. There was a Lagunitas tasting the day we were there and as I was talking to the representative a store lead approached me to tell me about a Beer Fest they are having on site on May 17th from 1-4p. I wish I could go, if you are in the area, please try to attend. Supporting a great business and the ability to sample some great beers and rare ones too I hear. This place is easy to get to from 495/Rt. 9. This will certainly be one of my go to places for beverages. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to show a friend their Stonewall Kitchen gift and gourmet section, cheeses, downstairs event space, and to try some of the 20+ rotating selection of free self-sampling wines available at the back corner of the store. What we found was that several venders pouring tastings of beer, wine, and (my favorite) margaritas. They were all definitely in the mood to pleasantly talk and educate us about their offerings. We found someone in the whiskey den and he could not share enough with us about the history, recent and upcoming events, attributes, and why this store is so successful. He was a wealth of information. It turned out that he was Ryan Maloney, the unassuming owner of Julio's. It was abundantly clear why this store is top in the nation. We walked out with a lot more than we planned to purchase when we came in because of the personal interactions and education. We plan to come back for future events. This place is great! read more

This is the first liquor store I've been in where employees are standing around in the aisles, chatting, while there are customers wandering around trying to find specific items. The selection for wines and beers is amazing. Don't get me wrong. The customer service is seriously lacking. There were two guys in the beer section talking about some new beer that was coming in (they were actually quite loud), while I and two other customers were literally going around in a circle looking for specific beers. At one point one of the employees looked at me, and then returned to his conversation. I could have asked them for help, but I felt awkward interrupting their conversation, and I'm guessing the other two customers did as well. It's was kinda comical. The person at the cash register was no better. The only thing he said was the total I owed. Not kidding. No "Hello" or anything. So, yeah...selection is great, prices are good...customer service is basically non-existent. read more

I went there yesterday looking for a high end bourbon they advertised on their website. The guy who we were lucky enough to have "help" us was pretty much useless. We we asked if they had anymore he just said "nope, not that they told me" and "if we have it, it's out there." So, we checked with another clerk who was at least trying to look it up in their computer, when the first guy looked over and said "just because it says we have it doesn't mean we have it." I realized they might be out of something I came looking for but when you're looking for a $100 + bourbon you'd think you could at least get some actual assistance, not a guy guessing. I won't give them one star as I've been there before and had a much better experience, so I guess it's all based on the luck of the draw and who happens to be on that day. read more

Holy hell, never have I ever spent so much time in a beer section trying to decide what to pick up. The raves about the selection here are no joke and the variety of Belgian brews knows no equal. An added plus is that many beers normally available in 4 or 6-packs can be bought individually...at a discount! Such an awesome way to try different beers and for less money too. I have to tell you in all of my ventures to different "packies" as the the locals will call them, in my lifetime (of course, what is that saying about me?) I have never been to one that is so diverse and eclectic across the board. I have been to wine tastings here and beer tastings here and they really know how to get it done. I have asked for specialty microbrews or some special liquors that I might have gotten while away somewhere in a far away land and they have ALWAYS tracked it down and gotten it for me no matter what hoops that they have had to jump through to get it. The prices are a little steep if you are just looking at stopping in for a fifth of some cheap booze but I like the wide selection and paying more for the things that you want sometimes in life is an ok thing to me. I love Julio's liquors and not because of the liquor! Don't get me wrong, they have a great selection of alcohol but I go for the hot sauce. Seriously, their hot sauce selection is on point. They even have a hot sauce connoisseur named nick. He really knows his stuff. He let me sample a few, we talked about the differences between them. I'm seriously obsessed! I will def come back. Especially because he is going to order me some of my favorite ones. I almost didn't want to write a review selfishly because I didnt want to give away my hot sauce secret location. Simply put the best damn store around! I mean how can you a beat a place that is the size of a grocery store, but only carries beer, wine, liquor and other specialty items. When it comes to beer there is no place around that even comes close to it. Its truly in a league of its own. The selection is so wide I can't even list everything they have. The most amazing part is how awesome their staff is. They will also try to get anything they don't carry if you ask them, but it would take literally months if not years to drink all the different varieties they carry. The make your own 6 pack deal where you get 15% off is a sweet deal. Also, make sure to ask for one of the beer cards. Everytime you buy a 6 pack they punch the card and you get free stuff at different intervals. So they also carry an awesome selection of liquors and liqueurs. Their selection of hard to find items is truly awesome. They also carry a whole array of bitters and mixes which are difficult to find. The wine selection is also top notch. The most impressive feature has to be the huge selection of wines to taste. Its difficult to describe and I would say you must go and try it out. When I moved to Westborough, MA five years ago, I thought I knew a thing or two about beer. Boy, was I in for a surprise. The day I walked into Julio's and say their selection of over 1500 different beers, my life quite literally changed. Sounds tacky (or possibly the review of a degenerate), right? Seriously though...about two months after I moved to the area, I began writing about beer. Five years later, I'm still writing. 90% of my writing "material" comes from Julio's beer section. If you haven't heard about Julio's, you may be living under a rock. However, if you have been under said rock, here's why you should make a trip to the store, regardless of where you live in New England: 1. Julio's has the largest stock of beer that you'll find anywhere. If the beer is distributed in New England, you'll find it here. 2. The staff at Julio's is top-notch and well informed about beer. Don't hesitate to ask them for help. In particular, the operations manager Tom has been with the store for a very long time and is extremely knowledgeable about the topic. 3. They regularly hold FREE beer tasting events. These events range from their weekly beer tastings to their HUGE yearly beer events such as the spring beer fest and the Belgian beer fest. -Lost (in the beer aisle) P.S. The ultimate for beer. You just can't get any better than Julio's in Massachusetts. One of the biggest selections I've seen available anywhere, and not only is it expansive, but it's extremely well-curated and moderated by knowledgeable beer geek employees. Plus, you get a 15% discount on any mix-a-six pack selection of beer, plus any additional beer you buy on top of the mix-a-six. Julio's also has an extensive liquor selection, and wine selection, and hot sauce selection, and, and, and...There's a lot of "ands" here. This store was amazing. They offered free wine tasting stations where if you were of age, you could leave your license and get a cup to sample some of the hundreds upon hundreds of bottles of wine. Their selection was second to none for sure, their prices were very reasonable and in some cases downright surprisingly low, and they were incredibly accommodating. My husband and I had a long road ahead of us and we needed to go to the bathroom. They offered up their non-public rest rooms so we can relieve ourselves before hitting the road. My husband lit up when he witnessed the whisky selection. If only you could have seen the smile on his face. They even offered barrel kits so that he could age his own whisky kit. This was a pleasant surprise for him, which was also a pleasant surprise for the ride home. Overall, great place! I am sure we will be back some time soon! read more

I'm from western New York, where you have to go to a liquor store to buy wine and liquor. (The one difference here in Mass. is that you can buy beer in the same place at least.) So after finding alcohol every place you can turn in Ohio, where I live now, this was a pleasant surprise! A real liquor store again! We stopped by Julio's on our weekend road trip from Columbus, OH to Freeport, ME. A trip of almost 2,000 miles. We stopped at Julio's on recommendation, and we're excited that we did! We found some excellent regional brews to try, including several blueberry beers. If you're looking for non-New England beers, you're still in luck. Julio's has an incredible selection of beers from all over the U.S. and all over the world. Their Belgian selection was out of control. Julio's was so great that we stopped on our way BACK from Maine too, to pick up some beers for friends, as well as some more for ourselves. If you do a custom 6-pack, you get 15% off each beer; that includes the big boys. If I'm ever passing through the Worcester/Westborough area, I'll definitely be back to Julio's. read more

This place is by far one of the best Liquor/ cigar store I've been to in Massachusetts. I threw my husband a 50th Birthday Party and needed high end Cigars and Whiskey ...this place did not fail!!! Wh. I walked in I was overwhelmed with how large the place was. There was a guy at that door giving out samples of Knobbs Creek and it came with a small bottle of bbq sauce...the guys loved it. He then passed me off to someone else because he was leaving and this guys continued with me and told me what to get. I then entered the wine department and another employee tried to help me with some high end wine...super friendly. The most intimidating part was coming up.. Cigars!! I had no clue what I was looking for ...but yet again another gentleman assisted me with what cigars to match up with what Liquor. The party was a hit!!!! And I couldn't have put the main part of the party together without the help of Julio's !!!! Thanks again the party turned out great!!! I never thought I'd be leaving a Yelp review for a liquor store, but the folks at Julio's were so friendly that I have no choice! We stopped in today randomly and were amazed by the vast selection and multiple tastings going on at once. We were asked by multiple employees if we needed help, but the signage was so good, we were able to navigate no problem. Prices were absolutely reasonable, and we even picked up some jellies in the front room along with my craft beer. Highly recommend Julio's for all your needs! read more
