For one, I was surprised because he never elaborated on how his condition got so bad. Come to find out after I seeked help from another practice, the reason why his teeth was so bad is because Dr.Akel Never filled in existing cavities that he did have. I'm here to let you guys know that please seek dental care else where because after awhile he will only do the bare minimum when it comes to your oral health. First thing the dentist said was,"how could I let my teeth get this bad"? I explained I never had the money or insurance to deal with my teeth. How dare he imply I don't care about my dental hygiene. Hernandez! The treatment I received with DR. Hernandez and his office staff, I must say, was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in for my initial consultation, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. The staff at the office were incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure to answer all of my questions and ease any concerns I had about the upcoming procedure. What really stood out to me was the patience and thoroughness with which the doctor explained the entire process to me during that first visit. It was evident that they truly cared about ensuring I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. As the day of my surgery approached, I appreciated having been proactive in requesting a copy of the instructions at the initial visit- due to different conflicts, I had to reschedule my procedure 2 or 3 times ( I can't remember) so from that initial consult to the date of the procedure was well over 4 months. This was the first time I was undergoing any sort of procedure, so for my own wellbeing, I am glad I requested the paperwork at that first visit! While the pre-op instructions provided the night before were minimal, having the additional guidance ensured I was well-prepared for the big day. On the day of the surgery, everything went smoothly, thanks to the professionalism and expertise of the entire team. I was pleasantly surprised by how little discomfort I experienced afterward, thanks to the adequate pain control measures put in place. My follow-up appointment a week later further solidified my positive impression of the office. I was informed upfront about the risk of infection, particularly in the lower teeth, and advised on what symptoms to watch out for. Unfortunately, I did develop an infection a week later, but the response from the office was swift and efficient. They offered me a same-day visit, although I had a scheduling conflict and went in the next morning instead. The quick incision and drainage procedure had me in and out of the office in under 30 minutes, with clear instructions on how to care for the site afterward. Since then, my recovery has been smooth sailing, and I couldn't be happier with the care I received at this office. I would highly recommend anyone in need of oral surgery to consider this practice for their exceptional care and professionalism. Thank you to the entire team for making what could have been a stressful experience as pleasant as possible. Of note, my initial office visit was last year around November, my wisdom teeth extraction was performed in March and I am writing this review now, to show how much thought I placed upon sharing my experience with anyone who needs OMFS services.
