I had an appt at 10:30 and even confirmed via text the day prior. She called at 9:20 to say she had a cancellation and would be at my house earlier than my scheduled appt. She showed up at 9:30 before I could even respond. I was at an appt where I could not answer my phone so we were playing phone tag in between me seeing the dentist and me checking out of my appt. I told her I was on my way home. I got home by 10:10 and waited for a while. I checked my security cameras and she had left almost immediately after I texted her telling her I would be home soon. She just left! No notification, nothing. I called her to ask where she was and she texted me back around 10:40 saying that she couldn't wait because she had other clients to do. But I had an appt at 10:30! I moved my day around this appt and then she lied to me. I was home on time and she totally blew me off for other jobs. That is so unprofessional and disrespectful. They lost a client that day. I had soooo many times they had to change my appt or had to cancel due to being short staffed, etc. I was always flexible and kind. I don't know why I was treated like this but feel I had to say something. Sorry guys but you dropped the ball.

I know dogs can get stressed in a kennel situation. I used to work in a kennel in different veterinary location. I asked for my pup to be checked by a vet before I took her home. He said lungs and heart sound fine. She passed away at home less than 48 hours later. If I could see her stumbling around the office, everyone else had to notice this too. I really like the vet techs and the staff up front. I am not quite sure about the vet that checked her before we left or the kennel folks.

After…read moretrying all sorts of foods and realizing she was getting much too lethargic, I called Heron Creek Animal Hospital (they came recommended to me). I called on a Monday and luckily was able to get an appointment for the following day, Tuesday. The office itself is gorgeous and very state of the art, and the front desk gals and technicians were very nice. Dr. McKraken is really personable and took her time in examining Zelda and asking me questions. Bloodwork was done and within 20-25 minutes had results. Thankfully nothing serious was wrong with my Z, though she did get put on some medication for her appetite. Total with the exam, bloodwork, medications, and a spray for her toys/blankets to help calm her if shes feeling stressed (almost like lavender's calming effects but for cats), was about $375-ish. Expensive, but naturally, worth it for peace of mind and good honest help from a reputable veterinarian! What I most appreciated was the two follow up phone calls on Wednesday and Thursday checking on Zelda. It's nice to be shown that all the animals seen are cared about and not just another number.

Unfortunately, this experience has been very upsetting, and we will not be returning to this…read moreclinic. I originally brought my dog in, who has an extensive and well-documented history of allergies, simply to continue his long-standing allergy medication. Despite his records clearly showing he has been on the same medication for years, I was required to schedule and pay for a full exam. I accepted this. However, when his medication ran out and I requested a routine monthly refill, the clinic refused and required another full visit and exam fee just to refill the same medication. This was extremely frustrating and not something I've experienced with other veterinary practices. Shortly after, I brought my dog back for a scratch on his eye. The treatment provided did not resolve the issue. At a follow-up visit, I was told he would most likely need to be rushed to a veterinary ophthalmologist and potentially require anesthesia. I was charged approximately $600 for bloodwork and anti-nausea medication to "prepare" him for this referral. When we actually saw the veterinary ophthalmologist (a completely separate clinic), none of that bloodwork or medication was needed, and the eye issue was managed with a different treatment plan that was effective. This made the prior visit feel unnecessary, poorly coordinated, and avoidable. Because the eye issue was not properly addressed early on, my dog dealt with this problem for over a month, causing unnecessary stress, time, and financial burden. While I understand vets are trying to help, the lack of coordination and repeated full-charge visits added up quickly and felt excessive. Given the repeated issues, unnecessary costs, and overall experience, we will not be returning to this practice.

However, I wanted to point-out something that I hope someone else can benefit from. You should know ahead of time: There is a 15-pound weight limit for dogs, and, perhaps stick with just Stacy as your groomer. You can actually stop reading right there, because the rest of the review is simply sharing my observations. Based on Dogs of Venice reviews, I was excited to have Stacy groom my Maltese. When I called, she got back to me quickly. She was booked out, but said her daughter (with 2 years of experience) could groom and she (Stacy) would oversee the cut. I brought my dog in at the appointment time and met Stacy, who was a lovely person--it's no wonder she has so many good reviews. I handed Stacy my dog, chatted a little (about the cut and about my pup), and headed out. Shortly after I got home, I received a call to come back--my dog was apparently over the weight limit. Stacy explained she has back issues and did not want to injure herself. This seemed strange because 1. my dog weighed 13.5 pounds at the vet last Tuesday and 2. Stacy's daughter was supposed to be grooming my dog, rather than Stacy herself. There's really no sense in trying to debate it when someone calls you back to get your dog, right? And I certainly did not want anyone to hurt themselves. So I went back. Long story short, when I arrived to get my dog Heidi, Stacy was apologetic and her daughter was sitting on a chair on the other side of the room looking at the floor, with her ears covered. I don't know what that was all about--maybe the dogs barking--but she didn't get up or say anything or even look my way--which just felt odd and a little unprofessional. The moral of the story is--know they have a weight limit--it might be a good idea to ask them to weigh your dog at drop off if you think you're close--and perhaps most importantly, wait for availability so Stacy can groom your pooch.
