A jolly Tea Room on the High Street in Ely, just a stone's throw from the magnificent mediaeval cathedral.
We visited with some friends from Norway after visiting the cathedral. The team rooms serve tea cakes, cakes, toasties, sandwiches, filled baguettes, a soup of the day and baked potatoes.
Service was very friendly and a little slow to start, but the food was worth waiting for: generous portions and good quality. My baked potato came with a side salad (a bit more than a generous garnish) and plenty of cheese and baked beans, as well as three spare pats of butter (which I didn't need, as there was plenty of filling).
Filled baguettes were similarly good, served with corn chips as well as salad. The brie and bacon baguettes had lovely smoked and freshly fried bacon.
