I learned what Board & Brush is about when I visited the website to choose my activity. They seem to be really popular as there were limited seats available. Upon searching for an activity on the website, I kept in mind I would be traveling back home on the Metro North and was seeking smaller crafts. I later learned there is a class for smaller crafts it just wasn't the one we chose. There is free parking outside in front of the location. Upon entering we were greeted by the staff and checked in. The staff showed us to our work station. Each table can host 6 guests. Our supplies were already at our stations. The décor in the establishment is absolutely stunning. The wall art is a mixture between the small crafts and the larger crafts. Here's a tip I didn't think about until it was too late, you'll be dealing with paint keep in mind what you wear. If you have a favorite shirt or shoes you wouldn't want to get messed up, they may not be the best to wear here. Thankfully I didn't get any paint on me besides my hands. I cannot remember the lady who assisted us but she was an angel. She was very patient with me as I'm not the best person to do arts & crafts. The other ladies at the table were very supportive also. This location allows you to bring snacks and wine. Don't be like me and accidentally eat someone else's snacks thinking the establishment set it out for everyone. Overall, I had a great time making my project. I wouldn't mind returning to Board & Brush however I would prefer to do the smaller crafts as oppose to the larger ones. It's also difficult to locate the small crafts online. I say give it a try you may like it.

The staff is also super friendly and helpful! If you are having some difficulties with anything while creating your work they will jump right in and help you by your side! This place is super unique and a plus is you can bring your own snacks and wine!! (I wanted to update my review!) Came here a second time and had an amazing time again! I wanted to add one of the workers who helped me out was phenomenal! His name was Jake and he helped make my board extra beautiful! Thank you Jake for being absolutely awesome and beyond helpful!

There are a few small classrooms which are decorated with artwork...very motivating! It's BYOB and you can also bring food items (apps/snacks) to enjoy while creating your masterpiece. The instructor was great, very helpful and clearly explained each step of the process. I was frustrated at the beginning, having not painted since middle school, but began to develop confidence as my painting was near finished. I was also able to go back and touch up some areas that I thought needed it. A great way to spend an evening with friends. I definitely plan to return. They constantly offer promos and discounts (on their website and via groupon/living social), which I plan to keep an eye on, for my next visit.

Sometimes we go to New York City and other times we find something to do closer to our home base (the lovely town of Ridgefield). If you've ever participated in one of those paint and sip parties and figure that this is the same-old thing, you'd be mistaken. The similarities are not hard to miss. (1) You bring in your favorite snacks and beverages (particularly the adult beverages that we all love, WINE!), (2) you will paint stuff, (3) there is expert assistance to help you paint stuff, and (4) it's an estrogen-rich environment (think girl's night out). Usually, for the paint parties, you have to paint what the instructor decides to paint. In my experience, it's a forced affair--sometimes stressful and rushed to get the group out and make way for the next--with the end product landing squarely on the floor of my closet until I pitch it. The plank painting experience lets you know that this is different, because when you sign up, THEY LET YOU DECIDE what you want to paint! When you arrive, the project is professionally laid out for you, with your name on it. The individual guidance doesn't end there. There were about 20 people there, working on projects, and 3 staff members, but I never felt neglected. There were announcements that fit everyone through the event, but a lot of the instructions were one-on-one. Suggestions were made and a plan was agreed with each individual. The staff even adapted the projects on-the-fly to make it an optimal outcome, making some of the art very personal. Ample time was given to each person and help was given without stress. The one thing (among many) that I appreciated was that we were allotted several hours and then ended up taking more. The staff was gracious and patient and never uttered a word that we took too much time. They made it WONDERFUL fun and I know that we'll be back in the future!

I went with some friends, we had a good time. I guess maybe my reading prior reviews made me a little on edge, the ones that said the owner was not very nice in so many words. I was a little guarded because of that. She was ok, not warm and fuzzy but well then that's just her personality. I figure you're not there to make friends, just a painted plank! Which I was very happy with. I'd go back again and still do recommend. Maybe the more you go, the better the connection? I'm going back to find out!

The main board you get is usually very big so we were bumping into each other a lot. Then when it came to drying there was only a small space where a fan could fit and all the boards crammed there (aka, mine didn't dry much). Basically this location is really small which makes it really loud! This doesn't have to do with this location but the company chooses way too small of fonts and images sometimes that it's basically impossible to peel. Then the blue adhesive side doesn't stick well to the stained wood. Therefore, my paint work always looks messy. I heard If you do like a white wash over the stain it sticks better? But I don't always like the look of it. They need to have thicker lettering and stronger adhesive! Still it's a fun activity to do with friends!

In my first class, Christine was so welcoming and caring - it is enthralling to be present in her passion to let everyone be immersed in the joy of pottery. Priscilla is the same in her compassion and knowledge. They are two wonderful women who allow this beautiful place to flourish with incredible art lovers from all walks of life. Members come from all over Fairfield county and beyond - I'm lucky it is in my town. Teaching pottery is difficult because everyone progresses differently and the instructors here do an amazing job or balancing the individual handholding and maintaining order of the class. While I work on my pieces, I get to observe some of the instructors whether they teach a group class or a private tutoring class. To share a few shoutouts: Safiya is fantastic with teens in boot camps - (I just learned that she is starting to teach Friday evening classes!) Julie also is a caring and competent teacher. I enjoy conversations that accompany creating art across diverse age/gender/backgrounds here. There's something for everyone. Whether you are a tired parent looking for a mental health respite, an exhausted soul looking to enrich your artistic side, or to glimpse wonders in your own creation in general, I would recommend that you pay a visit and talk to the owners what you would like to do. They would be happy to help you find a way.
