We made an appointment to come back at 2pm, we were able to get a doctor at 3pm…read more Still, after going in, the doctor took more than 30 minutes to come in the room. Miscommunication about making appointments, they mentioned that it is not possible, however saw 2 cases of accepted requested appointments later on the week, and 1 appointment made by phone. This trouble just makes me think that either the protocol is confusing towards only us(since they were many exceptions in regards of the appointment) or its a racist issue.

I was not at all impressed with the service I received at the Summit Medical Clinic. Early morning…read morelineups and a long wait are (unfortunately) to be expected when you don't have a family doctor in Kamloops. I can't fault the clinic for this and thus these factors do not have an impact on my opinion. However, there were some other glaring issues that will make me think twice about returning here the next time I need to see a doctor. The first issue is a lack of privacy. The layout of the foyer almost encourages patients to crowd the around the reception desk. Medical concerns can be very embarrassing or awkward for some people and I would hate for someone to feel like their privacy isn't being respected. Even a sign asking people in line to maintain some distance would help with this. The next issue I had was with the doctor herself. I was led into a room by one of the nurses who asked me why I was there. I gave her two concerns, and saw her write down both of them. When the doctor finally came in to help me, she read off my first concern, wrote me a prescription, and stood up to leave (all in less than five minutes). I was a bit taken aback by this and when I brought up my secondary concern, I could hear her sucking in breath. She told me I could set up an appointment to have it dealt with at a later date and walked out. This doctor made me feel like an annoyance. I definitely didn't feel respected by her at all. When I called the clinic back to make an appointment, at first the receptionist didn't what I was talking about until I explained what the doctor had told me. Apparently they have a nurse come in once a month to deal with these kinds of needs which absolutely didn't work with my schedule. When I asked if she knew of a different clinic I could go to that offers these services, she raised her voice at me and patronizingly told me that "this is just how things are" and no, she didn't know of another clinic. I ended up calling another clinic myself and found out that they offer these kinds of appointments daily and the friendly receptionist offered me advice and answers to all of my questions. It was like night and day.

While I appreciate that this hospital has several public washrooms available, I was really…read moredisappointed to find no change tables anywhere near the emergency department -- in fact, not one on the entire floor. As a parent with a 6-month-old, this made an already stressful visit even harder. A hospital is one of the places that should absolutely be equipped for families with infants. I hope they consider adding change tables soon to make the space more accessible and family-friendly.

The ER has not yet been redone so is still old looking but the trauma wing!!!!! Is beautiful!!!!…read moreOpened in July and is incredible! Clean, bright and all the latest tech!!!! The reason I only gave this place four stars is because they are so short on staff! The staffing shortages have led to less RNs on shift so medications take 1-2 hours to receive when asked for so you really need to plan ahead esp if your protocol is supposed to be every 3-4th hour. There are some SUPER AMAZING & lovely staff members -- Christa -- our triage nurse was FANTASTIC, intuitive & a life saver truly!! Some other increíble staff we have been blessed to get to know on the 8th floor (Trauma) RNs Becky, Rebekah and Correne!!!! LPNs and Care Aids Pearl, Lazzlo, Erin & Evette. A few others to list but I suck with names! I know trying their best w what they have despite being so overworked -- but these ones listed have truly gone above & beyond!!! Thank you to Dr Brownley and Dr Ganji for your amazing bed side manner, & especially your wisdom & talent as surgeons! We are forever grateful! End of the day the govt / powers above need to get their ish together to fix the staffing issues as this is ridiculous--they are over worked and running around like chickens w their heads cut off. Another point -- hospitals need to up their standard of food. With less than 10g of questionable protein per meal but tons of fat and carbohydrates -- it would be in everyone's best interest to make some changes. I've always thought this but now that I've lived it again but as an adult wow.
