I finally got to try Jukebox today after hearing about it for a while. I liked it! Being an American in Italy, I generally don't bother with American style restaurants because it's usually disappointing. But this place has heart. I liked the atmosphere and the staff was really friendly. It's not a large place but they gave up a 6 seat table for my husband, baby and me without any 'tude. They have some specialty burgers with a vegetarian option. It was well-priced around €10 and comes with a side of your choice. There was other stuff on the menu but I forget all of it except the jukebox (veggie)burger which I ordered and the vegan burrito that my husband got. The burger was small but that, with the side of oven roasted potatoes and a Coke out of the bottle filled me up. It was tasty, particularly the potatoes. The veggie burger was nice because it was freshly made. Maybe a little soft for a burger but tasted good. I tried the vegan burrito and, while not "Mexican" in the least, was a decent vegan burrito with a nice mix of veggies, soy meat and favors. That was with a side of chips and guacamole. I still haven't had any good tortilla chips in Italy, unfortunately. But what'reya gonna do, it's very far from Mexico. The guacamole wasn't bad though. They could've left it a little chunkier but now I'm just nitpicking because I can. Opted to get dessert elsewhere just for variety's sake but I definitely noted the glass case by the register that had cookies and large brownies in it.
They also have a very well-stocked bar and cocktail menu, drinks cleverly named after bands. Before going there, I had the impression that it was going to be over the top 1950's America theme but that, it was not, thankfully. They actually have a really cool jukebox. I only heard it play Velvet Underground but that was good enough for me. There are also signed records along the walls probably because the owner of Jukebox also owns Covo Club, one of the main places to see indie, post-punk type stuff in Bologna. I'm only giving it 4 stars because there was no changing table for babies in the bathroom (now that I'm a mom I realize how difficult it is when there isn't one) and the chips which I bet they could figure out how to make fresh and way better. I hope they do! We will definitely return. It's conveniently located in the historical center of Bologna but felt comfortable and welcoming. read more
