I loved Cross Keys until the latest interaction that just proceeded to get worse. My dog had a…read moretumor removed. When I received the call from Dr Hosier after surgery she said they removed the tumor but found another. They aspirated that tumor and found that it was a mast cell tumor. She never told me that meant it was cancer. When I picked him up and received written instructions I was told that he got a shot of benedryl because aspirating the tumor could cause it to granulate releasing histamines. That was all I was told nothing was explained. When I called because my dog was not walking still the next day and could not stand they blamed me for giving him gabentin which I was instructed to do in writing. I told them my dog had diarrhea was vomiting and would not eat. They suggested stopping the novox and offering chicken and rice diet. I did that then had to rush him to the hospital on Sunday because his face was swollen. Red Bank animal hospital explained that he had cancer, that his symptoms were from degranulation. They had to give him another benedryl shot and put him on benedryl meds. They told me to follow up with my vet immediately I called Monday they said I could wait until his appt Sat to get his stitches out. Went for the appointment it was obvious Dr Hosier never read the report. She prescribed him a bunch of new meds including steroids to try and get him to eat. She said she would check in, in two days. She never checked in and also forgot to removed two stitches from his chest. I called to speak with the owner Dr Masso on three occasions. They would tell me she would call back. She never did. Once the receptionist even told me the matter was closed in their system. I am so disappointed. I was calm and polite with every call. I said I didn't want Dr Hosier in trouble but I think the owner should know when so many mistakes are made. I have an appointment with a specialty surgeon soon but I'm sad that I now have to find a new vet because either Dr Masso could not spare five minutes of her time or the office, Jen, Tori and Dr Hosier, are hiding what happened. At the very least you could have told me it was cancer and know the signs of degranulation.

She was very compassionate and concerned about his welfare and was able to get the little guy unblocked. When I came to pick him up after the second hospitalization it was very apparent how caring she was, telling me how he was such a great patient and she loved his personality being able to spend time with him while taking care of him. As we were leaving she told me she'd be praying for his safe recovery and healthy future. Her passion for my pet's welfare made me feel so much more comfortable during a very stressful time Not only did Dr. Shinn "cure" my cat with care and compassion, she also worked with us with ways to reduce the cost of the second hospitalization, the first one having cost $800 exactly seven days earlier. When we went to pay the bill for the second hospitalization (which was two days longer than the first) we were surprised to see that not only did she keep her word to help reduce the cost (such as putting the cathetors in without anesthesia) Pitman Animal Hospital also knocked $100 off the final total. Not only is Dr. Taketoshi great, the whole staff is wonderful. Melissa is incredible and I will always appreciate her. Them. I had first come to this office after experiencing frustration and hopelessness with my cat. He was older at the time and we couldn't get a diagnosis. Had a diagnosis after the 1st visit to this office. Unfortunately we found my boy had FIV. He was 19 and didnt have much longer after diagnosis. But Melissa did absolutely everything in her power to make him as comfortable as he could be in the mean time. I had an apt. For euthanasia bc he stopped eating and it was time but we never made it. I had to take him somewhere in the middle of the night I adopt a cat shortly after who has a lot of allergies & some health issues. They have been with me every step of the way. DR. Taketoshi is very no BS. So I could see how some ppl would take her wrong but that is something I appreciate about her. Very sad to hear they are closing. I will be forever grateful for them.
