Booking regular massages with Grace is the best thing I've done for myself in the past year, by far. I didn't know that I could feel as good as I do after I leave the office, but it's enough to make me keep coming back on a monthly basis--sometimes even bi-weekly, depending on how my body's acting in that time. Every visit is a little different, and she really customizes my experience to suit my needs. Grace's hands are a true gift: I don't even know how she manages to find every area that needs work, but I'm ridiculously appreciative. The office itself is clean, calming, well-lit, and smells really nice--good vibes all around. I also want to note that I have two rods in my back from a spinal fusion when i was in middle school, and I was concerned about how she might work around them, but it was a non-issue and I've actually learned a lot about what's going on back there from questions she's answered for me during massages. Go! Book with Grace!

Ellen always begins appointments by checking in with me about what's going; any stressors, pain, problem spots, etc. We'll talk about what needs the most attention and she'll reiterate what she plans to work on so everyone is on the same page and everything that needs to be addressed is given the proper attention. I have plantar fasciitis and Ellen's massage -- it is so far beyond any place like Hand and Stone -- is the only thing that keeps the pain at bay. She has a serious gift. She'll find and fix things I didn't even realize needed help. I come out of there feeling amazing; like I've just been on a Caribbean vacation for a week. The space is clean, cozy, and instantly relaxing. I cannot recommend her enough.

She only works with female clients, which made me feel completely at ease and safe. Highly recommend!

I have had chronic back pain my entire life, I have been treated by various massage therapists, as…read morewell as chiropractors. Robin is by far the best practitioner I have ever used, for a number of different reasons. Robin has the ability to be simultaneously friendly and professional. She creates and atmosphere that is welcoming, relaxing, and safe, in addition to being up front about her techniques and expectations for the massage. When I step into the room, I don't feel like a customer; I feel like a valued patient and friend. It is apparent from both her actions and words that my well-being matters very much to her, which translates into a successful massage session. One thing I like best about Robin's massage techniques is that she breathes with me, tapping into the energy between us and in the room. She also uses aromatherapy oils to help open my sinuses, in addition to just working my muscles. She is sensitive to my needs, and checks in regularly throughout the massage to make sure I'm comfortable. She really values the space of an hour, and does everything possible to make sure I get the most out of our time together. Robin's willingness to really listen to my body and what it needs is unlike any other therapist I've been to. Sometimes, she goes over our scheduled one hour session, which she attributes to my body "telling her to." Not only does she "listen" to my body, she also listens to me. Some practitioners will ask what areas need attention, and then proceed with a standard full body massage. If I tell Robin that my back needs the most attention, she will spend the majority of her time on my back. As I said before, she's the first massage therapist who values both me and my feelings as a patient, rather than just a customer that she sees for an hour every other month. Overall, my experience during and after the massage is a feeling of total relaxation and detoxification. As soon as it's over, and in the weeks to follow, I feel energized (and anxious for the next session!). Her amiable spirit, caring personality, and total commitment to patient satisfaction have rarely been matched in my therapeutic experiences, which is what makes me confident that Robin will be my massage therapist for many years to come!

The entire 90 minutes was so relaxing and my entire body just felt a million times better when I left. I've had massages in the past where it felt like the therapist was just going through the motions and going off of a checklist - that was NOT the case here. Dorinda paid very special attention to where I was carrying extra tension (for me, my neck - though I don't think I realized that until she started working on it and I could feel the knots being worked out). I could have easily spent another 90 minutes on the massage table - it was that enjoyable and helpful. Booking my next massage as I write this!

No more random Groupons for me, I've found the real deal at Threshold Wellness. I have been going to Julia for a year and a half. She has helped me navigate my way though a very difficult time in my life in many ways. Even when she's not working on me, I still incorporate different techniques that she has taught me into my daily life that continue to make a difference. She is extremely talented, I highly recommend her to anyone seeking individualized treatment in massage, Myofascial Release, and Craniosacral Therapy. I have also taken a few of her very thoughtful workshops and would recommend them as well. I recently also started to see Sarah who was recommended to me by Julia. Although I don't want to limit Sarah's talents, the one word that makes me think of her is "strong." I never imagined that so much strength could come out of her hands. But it's much more than strength, she's thoughtful, thorough, and creates a wonderful balance throughout the session. I highly recommend Sarah.

I started going to her a few years ago when I was suffering from chronic back and neck pain. Nothing seemed to help my back pain. I went to a chiropractor, accupuncture, other massage therapists, physical therapy, you name it. I would feel better for an evening or two, and then the specter would return. But the thing that finally made the muscles in my neck and back calm down, and let me live a little, was a series of massages from Julia Taylor. I went through six sessions over a couple months. Julia was able to teach my muscles, that it was going to be alright, and they could just relax, and get strong and healthy again. Now when I feel a tinge of discomfort trying to work its ways back in, I go to Julia and let her work her magic on me.

But this grad student can only afford so many massages. Over the years, I've been to, oh, probably about a dozen massage therapists. Julia is unquestionably the best I've ever been to. She's everything anyone could ever want in a massage therapist: kind, gentle-hearted, professional, intuitive. Perhaps my favorite thing about Julia is how quick she is to respond to email requests, often squeezing me in the next day. (I've emailed her more than once when I've tweaked something in my neck or back and sent her a desperate "Help! I know you're busy, but I need you!" email.) She's been able to "read" my body like no one I've ever met, and she always comes into a session knowing what we'd worked on the past few times. I've recommended her to friends, and they've all gone back to her repeatedly. Her prices are quite reasonable - $85 for a 75 minute session; $100 for 90 minutes. She also frequently runs package specials - get on her email list to find out about these. Be warned - she usually runs a little long with her sessions. It might wreak a little havoc on your schedule, but who can complain about a few extra minutes of massage? Honestly, she's good enough that, should I ever move out of Philly, I'd come back just to see her.
