Everything we had was delicious, the bread, the starters of smoked salmon and monkfish, the mains and the steak which was cooked to perfection. The real surprise for me though was my main of Polenta with roast veg. It was one of the nicest vegetarian dishes I have ever had. Even my boyfriend who doesn't do vegetarian loved it. Unfortunately, what should have been a special day ended with us feeling extremely disappointed and deflated. We arrived without a booking and were told there would be a 30-40 minute wait, which we completely understood. However, almost two hours later, we were eventually walked through the restaurant, only to discover that there was no table available for us. We were then brought back to reception and placed in an area beside the fish tank. The area was extremely cold, to the point where all eight of us had to sit with our coats on. This was hardly the comfortable setting we had expected, particularly for a family celebration. When the food finally arrived, unfortunately the quality was also very disappointing. The steak was tough and extremely fatty, the fish was greasy, and the carbonara was dry. Given the length of time we had already waited, it was particularly disappointing that the food did not make up for the experience. I do want to mention that our waiter was the one saving grace. He did everything he could to look after us and was clearly doing his best in difficult circumstances. His efforts were genuinely appreciated. Overall, however, the experience was extremely disappointing. We had chosen to spend such a significant family occasion with you, and instead of leaving with happy memories of celebrating our dad's 80th birthday, we left feeling very deflated. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and consider what went wrong with both the organisation and the quality of the food and dining environment.
