In a nutshell, despite having a contract and me reaching out multiple times, communication broke down the week of my wedding and nobody showed up on the day of to do my hair or makeup. No explanation. No apology.
I found JSL visions through WeddingWire and decided to hire them because of the good reviews there and because they were one of the only companies that would come out for just the bride (I didn't have a bridal party). I signed the contract back in February 2024 and paid the deposit. I had a scheduled hair and makeup trial in July, which went well. Gloria, my stylist, took my information (phone #, wedding date of 9/28/24, address, etc.) so she would have it for the day of the wedding. Up until this point, I had been communicating via email with the business owner, who also had all the pertinent info about the event, which was reflected on my contract. And let me be clear: my issue is with the business owner, not the stylist. Gloria was wonderful.
Fast foreword to the Monday before the wedding. I hadn't heard anything so I sent an email asking them to send me a link to pay the balance (that's how I paid the original deposit) and to ask when the stylist would be arriving. I said in my email that I would need to be ready by 2:30 at the latest. I received an email back the Wednesday before the wedding telling me that an invoice would be sent and the stylist would show up at 1:30pm. I responded back to say I'd look out for the invoice and to request that the stylist arrive one hour earlier at 12:30, because my hair and makeup trial took about 1.5 hours, and I was nervous that a 1:30 arrival time would make me late for my photos. I never received a response to that email. I followed up via both email and phone with no response (no final invoice/payment link was ever sent either and there is no address on the email signature nor the website to send a check). On Friday, I went over here to Yelp only to learn that this business has many negative reviews and my experience is similar to others. I would up doing my own hair and makeup because I had a feeling nobody would show up, which is exactly what happened.
I sent another email to the business owner a day or two after the wedding to express my displeasure and I have also not received a reply to that email. No explanation, no apology, no nothing. On the upside, I saved $440, but this added some stress onto an already busy day.
I'm not sure how the reviews on WeddingWire are so positive but on here they are pretty negative. I fault myself for not doing my proper due diligence. But in hopes that this doesn't happen to other brides, I wanted to share my experience here. read more
