5 stars for the artist, Gloria. One star for the owner, Judy. I signed a contract back in February or March for my wedding this past weekend. I scheduled a trial for a couple months prior. The trial didn't happen the day it was originally scheduled which was my fault but I do think it could have been prevented. Basically, I was running late and then couldn't find the place, and no one was answering the provided phone number I kept calling. I finally found it, but it was 2 minutes past the grace time so the artist had left. Thankfully, they made it easy to reschedule (though my remarking on not being too late had they answered the phone went ignored). The trial itself went great! Gloria understood my style and gave me exactly what I wanted. I walked away feeling comfortable and excited. Two weeks before the big day, I email asking for a day-of number and a reminder on how to pay the final invoice. They just gave me the main number no one answered last time I called, and said I'd get the invoice week-of. Fast forward to three days before the wedding. I double-checked my contract and it said the final payment was due no later than 72 hours before the service and here I am at the 76 hour mark with no invoice. So I email asking them for the invoice. No response. I call, no response, I email again...you get the idea. THANK GOD I had Gloria's number. She responded she'd be there, she DID show up, did my hair and makeup beautifully and in a timely manner, too. I didn't hear back from Judy until last night (the Monday after) and it was just the invoice (and it was wrong). No apology for the lack of responses this week, nothing. I was fully expecting to be left without a hair and makeup artist all last week. I 10000% recommend Gloria as a hair and makeup artist, but only if you can get to her without going through Judy. read more

Ruined Corporate Event - review from Corporate Event Manager: Stylist No-Show: Artist A was a scheduled stylist but did not show up on event date and there was never notice of her cancellation. Additionally, a same-day no-show gave me no time to shift the schedule around and communicate to our guests in advance. Stylist Limitations: Per the schedule provided by JSL, each Stylist could commit to both hair & makeup service, however, Artist B was able to provide makeup services only. As a result, our guests could not be serviced in a single instance by the same Stylist and this interruption in flow (because the timing between Artist B & Artist C could not sync up perfectly) really delayed everything. Ultimately, the volume of scheduled appointments was too high based on the services that could be provided. Had this been communicated in advance, we would have scheduled our group differently. Communication from JSL Services: Communication from JSL Services was not timely, and we had to follow up a few times about the schedule proposal. Additionally, JSL Services was asked multiple times to review the schedule assignments in advance and verify that all scheduled Stylists were accounted for, and to let us know if there were any issues or concerns. This did not happen, creating confusion and worry onsite, based on the developments noted above. As a result, our schedule was negatively impacted on event date, inconveniencing majority of our guests and causing many of them to be tardy to a very high-level event, that required security clearance, at an off-site property from where the JSL services were provided. After going back and forth with Judy, she eventually agreed to honor a partial refund due to our experience, but this request was only met after threatening to escalate to our internal Legal department to resolve the matter. The Artists were talented but the business owner Judy is incredibly unprofessional. Would NOT recommend. read more

I booked JSL Visions in March 2023 for my September 2023 wedding. Shawna did my makeup for my engagement photos in March and did a great job. They don't have a physical location; they rent a small cubicle in a building in Chevy Chase. Since they don't have a physical location with a landline, I had to rely on e-mailing them or calling/texting the owner, Judy, for all communications. From the beginning, it seemed like they weren't great at planning. I have 8 people needing services the day of my wedding. They planned to send 2 artists for everyone and only allow 30 minutes/service for each person, including me, the bride. I voiced that I didn't think this was enough time and they told me that they were the experts and I should trust them. I called Judy in June to go over some day-of details and get some clarifications on their pricing. Our call got disconnected halfway through our conversation and when I tried to call her back, she didn't pick up. I texted her asking her to call me when she could to finish our conversation. No response. Flash forward to July when I was supposed to have my hair/makeup trial. She canceled my trial the morning of when I had already taken the day off from work with no explanation or apology. I then spent two weeks trying to get a hold of her team with no response. She did not respond to e-mails, phone calls or texts. I tried to be as pleasant as possible throughout this experience since I still wanted to work with them. The final straw for me was reading several recent reviews on WeddingWire and on The Knot from brides saying she showed up very late to their weddings or NO-SHOWED. That is completely unacceptable. She finally e-mailed me back and said she wasn't sure if she could service me on my wedding day even though we had a contract. No apology or explanation from her for ghosting me for months. She offered to return my deposit which I said yes to. I have spent the last few weeks desperately trying to find a new company. I want to shout out Caitlyn Meyer Pro, Tamar C Makeup, and Makeup by Ana B who all helped me find a new company for my wedding day. It's clear to me now from their website that JSL Visions is overextended and doesn't have enough artists working for them. They don't have full-time admin staff to handle bookings. This seems to be why they're late or not showing up to people's weddings. It doesn't help that Judy really doesn't care about her brides. They have recently expanded to Florida (?) and now do wedding planning as well. I had considered hiring them to plan my wedding too and I'm so happy I didn't now. If Judy can't even book a hair/makeup trial or show up to someone's wedding, how could she plan it? This whole experience has been the most stressful part of my wedding planning. Avoid at all costs! read more

Re-posting because my review was deleted. JSL ruined my wedding day - do not book! JSL Visions caused me to be 45 min. late to my wedding and did not show up to provide a hair change that I had booked in advance and paid for in full. I booked JSL Visions to do my mom's makeup and my hair and makeup for the morning of my wedding. All went well during the trial, however, the artist who worked with me during my trial had a family emergency and was unable to come on the day of my wedding. Another member of the JSL Visions team was asked to fill in last minute. She was supposed to be finished with all hair and makeup by 12 but she did not finish until 1:15 pm. I arrived 45 minutes late to my ceremony, which resulted in us having to pay an additional $200 for an extra hour with the transportation company due to the timeline getting pushed back. I had booked and paid for JSL Visions to return at 5:00 pm to change my hair into an updo before my husband and I went to our reception. I was told the owner (Judy) would be coming to fill in for the original artist, however, I received no communication from the JSL team. After numerous calls, texts, and emails from both myself and my coordinator, I lost hope and was in tears when no one had shown up by 5:30 pm. I even contacted the JSL artist who did my hair and makeup earlier in the day but she was unable to come back and she also tried calling members of her team without any luck. Please take my story as a warning about how this vendor works with brides on their wedding day. read more

The owner Judy promised she'd personally be there to do my makeup for my wedding. Took $250 (payment in full) ahead of time to do my makeup on my wedding day. Did not show up on my wedding. Did not answer anyone's calls or texts. Next day, check my email and she emailed me 6 minutes before she was supposed to be there saying that my artist got in an accident and that no one would be coming to do my makeup. JSL's website says they will send another artist in the event this occurs. Stated she refunded me. She never did. I disputed the charge and it's been hell to get it back. If you want clear communication and not to be stood up on your day, do not book JSL. 5 stars for me doing my wedding makeup, 0 for Judy. Book me for your wedding lol read more

If zero stars were a choice that's what I would leave. My wedding was almost 2 years ago at this point, but my reviews had been deleted on multiple platforms and I want people to be aware of how awful this company is. Judy no-showed ON my wedding day. No call, no email, no text. We repeatedly called the number we had nonstop for 5 hours. I had to scramble on the day of my wedding to find hair and makeup services. Afterwards, there was no apology. No communication. Nothing. I've never felt more disrespected. We were refunded at least but very much not the point. DO NOT BOOK JSL VISIONS EVER! read more

Never showed up for my the wedding leaving us without hair or makeup services the day of. The aftermath was handled unprofessionally as well. This review was taken down and I am putting it back up. Do not book. read more

In a nutshell, despite having a contract and me reaching out multiple times, communication broke down the week of my wedding and nobody showed up on the day of to do my hair or makeup. No explanation. No apology. I found JSL visions through WeddingWire and decided to hire them because of the good reviews there and because they were one of the only companies that would come out for just the bride (I didn't have a bridal party). I signed the contract back in February 2024 and paid the deposit. I had a scheduled hair and makeup trial in July, which went well. Gloria, my stylist, took my information (phone #, wedding date of 9/28/24, address, etc.) so she would have it for the day of the wedding. Up until this point, I had been communicating via email with the business owner, who also had all the pertinent info about the event, which was reflected on my contract. And let me be clear: my issue is with the business owner, not the stylist. Gloria was wonderful. Fast foreword to the Monday before the wedding. I hadn't heard anything so I sent an email asking them to send me a link to pay the balance (that's how I paid the original deposit) and to ask when the stylist would be arriving. I said in my email that I would need to be ready by 2:30 at the latest. I received an email back the Wednesday before the wedding telling me that an invoice would be sent and the stylist would show up at 1:30pm. I responded back to say I'd look out for the invoice and to request that the stylist arrive one hour earlier at 12:30, because my hair and makeup trial took about 1.5 hours, and I was nervous that a 1:30 arrival time would make me late for my photos. I never received a response to that email. I followed up via both email and phone with no response (no final invoice/payment link was ever sent either and there is no address on the email signature nor the website to send a check). On Friday, I went over here to Yelp only to learn that this business has many negative reviews and my experience is similar to others. I would up doing my own hair and makeup because I had a feeling nobody would show up, which is exactly what happened. I sent another email to the business owner a day or two after the wedding to express my displeasure and I have also not received a reply to that email. No explanation, no apology, no nothing. On the upside, I saved $440, but this added some stress onto an already busy day. I'm not sure how the reviews on WeddingWire are so positive but on here they are pretty negative. I fault myself for not doing my proper due diligence. But in hopes that this doesn't happen to other brides, I wanted to share my experience here. read more

I don't think people realize how terrible Judy Lopez's business JSL Visions is. ZERO STARS the one is because I have to. I did a bridesmaid makeup trial with Judy and she was terrible. I've been made up better by a child playing makeup than by a PROFESSIONAL "expert makeup" artist. Judy charged $140 for a makeup trial for a bridesmaid. She didn't do my eyebrows at all..I had to tell her to do my eyebrows which consist of black pencil and that was it. she stated "your eyebrows aren't done so I can't do them" which is very concerning since a PROFESSIONAL/EXPERT should be able to do those things. Judy also didn't have my shade "dark hue" and tried to make it her self and did a terrible job. She didn't contour it was foundation, gloss, pencil and that was it. When the bride started her trial she stated she wanted to see what she would look like on her wedding day and Judy Lopez stated you don't need to look like that for your bridal shower and told her she needed a different look and gave her the look SHE believed would best suit her. The bride was distraught which wasn't fair since she deserved to get her moneys worth. Also she did not wash or clean brushes which I thought was unsanitary in between the trial that the bride and I had..she did my trial and the brides trial within 50 minutes and then bolted out of the house since she had another engagement. Judy did not take the time to give us the care we deserve after paying over $200 for a trial..Even the website says 30 minutes. *Skips to the wedding* Judy left early and didn't stay the allotted time on her contract, hired the makeup and hairstylist 24/48 hrs before the event without notifying the bride. Bridesmaids were forced to do makeup because we were short on time. Also we found out she pocketed most of the money and did none of the amazing work the actual artist did. One of the makeup artist stated she said the bride was asking for a complicated hairstyle ( the bride wanted curly waves which the hairstylist on that day nailed) Which makes me question her business ethics, her licenses in cosmetology and her character. Judy has not only displayed a lack of professionalism but a lack of craft..she can't do simple makeup nor hair and she isn't the EXPERT she claims to be. Please ladies DO NOT book a woman who will ruin your special day! You deserve better! read more

if i could leave no star i would. listen listen listen do not book with this person!!!! unprofessional, late, not enough people, not shown, not everyone got makeup and hair done, shes just putting money inside her pocket, and not giving a good job. the worst in the dmv!!!! read more

My daughter had a consultation with a nice girl who made her up beautifully. The day of her wedding, JSL sent a substitute who claimed to have reviewed all notes of the consultation and confirmed the owner would arrive at 5pm for evening reception makeup touchup and updo. My daughter prepaid for wedding hair and makeup for her and makeup for me, mother of the bride. Although she was on time, she did not pace herself which caused her to rush to finish the bride. We were so hurried, as she made more than 45 minutes late to church, the sub took control of putting my only daughter into her wedding gown and veil. She ruined what should have been a beautiful mother-daughter moment. During this time I had been contacted by the wedding planner asking for ETA. The beautiful emotion of the day was ruined. We rushed out to an hour long waiting limo. The additional wait time was an unforeseen charge due to the sub JSL mismanagement of time. The wedding was scheduled to begin at 1:00. We arrived at 1:45. My daughter's priest was pressed as he had other engagements to attend directly after. As 5:00pm came and went, NO ONE arrived for my daughter, nor could she make contact with anyone of JSL via phone, text, email, social media. She ended up in tears making an SOS on social media for a hair & makeup person's help. Thank Goodness for Shanee Golder. She arrived within 25 minutes after speaking with my daughter. She was so lovely, reassuring and professional. She quickly fixed my daughter's hair into a very pretty updo and touched up her makeup. I wish we had met Shanee before contracting with JSL. We loved her and as such we invited her to the reception. She CAME! JSL created unnecessary delays which in turn cost us unnecessary and unforeseen costs. Brides to be, save yourselves the headache. I strongly recommend Shanee Danielle Golder. She is a CNN makeup artist and is quite adept to quick change of a look making you camera ready. I am happy to share her contact info. She is as beautiful as she is amazing. I keep in contact with her currently! JSL has to date made no effort to make right this unfortunate turn of events. My daughter will keep her options in mind to resort to small claims court. read more

I did a makeup trial and booked my services months before my July wedding. Despite multiple attempts at reaching out to JSL Visions in the days leading up to my wedding, I did not receive any communication whatsoever from the management until after the wedding date when JSL sent me an invoice for services that they did not provide! I had to book a salon at the last minute for myself and my mother. read more

Oh my goodness, what can I even say?! These ladies were wonderful. Shawna & Gloria folded right into the chaos so seamlessly and really helped to make our day special. They were so lovely and (most importantly) made us LOOK so lovely!!! We couldn't be happier with their services. They were timely, professional, and personable. Money well spent!!!! read more

DO NOT BOOK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Judy took our deposit money and then totally disappeared. For more than a week she categorically ignored repeated calls, texts, emails, and voicemails. She refuses to answer the phone or offer any explanation despite the fact our wedding is in eight days. She built trust with my fiancée only to break her heart and stress us out by disappearing. Don't let the good reviews fool you, if you look closely at all of them, she has done this to other couples, too. Judy is a liar, a scammer, and a thief. Avoid JSL Visions at all costs. If you have any doubts, just ask me--I have the receipts. read more

Went to a trial, confirmed date of wedding and signed a contract. Have not received any word from them since and my wedding passed this weekend. We had to find a solution for make-up and hair at 2pm for a 5 pm wedding, and she was supposed to be onsite at 1250. If zero stars were possible I would, and would advise anyone looking to use them to steer clear by any means possible. I am still trying to reach someone for an explanation, and welcome anyone answering our calls to let us know what happened. read more

DO NOT BOOK THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!! If I could put 0 stars, then I would. We had 15 people needing to get hair and makeup done. Judy said only 30 min for each hair and makeup per person. Even for the BRIDE. Judy was supposed to do hair and makeup and she brought 2 other ladies. One that only did hair and the other that only did makeup. We found out that she booked one that Thursday and the other, the day BEFORE the wedding. In the contract it was written that just would be there until 12:30. She disappeared and left by 11 am. Since there was lack of staff (which was not their fault at all), one of the bridesmaids had to do others makeup. A bridesmaid had to work for Judy basically because she just went up and left. She is a complete scammer that just takes your money. I DO NOT recommend her or her company AT ALL! Also, Judy did the trial for the brides hair and makeup and in the end the other hair stylist did the bride's. It turned out so much better than when Judy first did it. But the bride was at stressed, nearly in tears her whole morning after Judy left because not everyone was able to get their hair and makeup done by an artist that they PAID for!! read more

Highly recommend JSL Visions! Seriously, look no further. Judy and her team are absolutely phenomenal. We had two brides and two mothers of the brides and all our hair and makeup was flawless. We have truly never felt so beautiful! We're so glad we chose JSL for our wedding and will 100% use them for every future occasion. read more

WARNING!!! DO NOT BOOK THIS VENDOR UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ABANDONED THE WEEK BEFORE YOUR WEDDING. First, Judy Lopez canceled the hair and makeup trip the day of. After a (very late) apology and excuse, I gave her another chance. She rescheduled the trial and presented herself professionally. She met with me in Fells Point to discuss the wedding details. She asked for personal information, and I gave it to her, thinking it was all to help with the wedding day. She got on a conference call with me to coordinate with our venue. But then, two weeks before our wedding--nothing. I gave her a few days of grace considering Labor Day Weekend, but after SEVERAL attempts to get ahold of her, I've finally come to accept that this woman scammed, and ghosted me. The worst part is how much she tried to instill trust with me! Truly, she went out of her way to make me think she was legit--and then she ghosted me. One week before the wedding. The scariest part is, now I'm discovering reviews of Judy abandoning brides THE DAY OF their wedding!! DO NOT BOOK WITH JSL VISIONS. Judy Lopez has many ways of scamming her clients--you don't want to be one of them read more

I had a great working with JSL Visions. Judy understood what I needed and provided them. The quality of the services was over what I excepted.
