I had a similar problem with Borderline Customs of Brownsville, TX. I am 68 years old and brought…read morethem my 2008 Honda Goldwing Trike. I do not ride trails, mud flats, or hill climb but rather ride from home to the post office and to have coffee with the guys. I trailered the bike back to MN and shortly thereafter I was told the trike fork tubes were damaged during the last time it was serviced. I am going to try and attach a photo. There was less than 600 miles between BC replacing seals and the subsequent failure! The owner tried to tell me the damages were done over time but the technician I took it to in Fargo just laughed. He told me his opinion was that all the dings were likely from an inexperienced person using a pair of channel locks to hold onto the fork tube while trying to loosen the top nut. The same marks appear on the back side of the tube so it wasn't done by rocks or stones. In addition the Goldwing has a guard in front of where the damages ocurred. Each mark was similar in that torque had been applied to make the divot. With so many similar dings it was therefore easy for the fork oil to leak out. I ordered new forks, seals, and the parts cost me over $450.00. I suspect that a prior review by A. W. and his kick stand issue was to the point. A better trained staff and a more skillfully trained owner-manager would help fix things. Damages done to a customers motorcycle while in the shop owners care is inexcusable! To me there is a lack of respect for the customers property. Of course the blame is always shifted back to the customer. No accountability from management! Furthermore, an offer to mediate the situation would be good for BC business. There is a need for a dependable motorcycle repair shop in So. Texas. P.R. 5/14/2016

First off, the business is located on Price Street, NOT International Blvd. I had a difficult time…read morefinding it because of the outdated address. On October 27, 2014, I stopped by Borderline Customs for an oil change on my 2003 BMW 1150 GSA on my way home to California. I left my bike in their care parked on their parking lot, while I went across the street for food. Upon my return to BC, I found my bike in the shop on the centerstand. I noticed, the kickstand was deformed and did not remain in the "up" position. Big problem. How did this happen? After talking to their mechanic, he tells me that when they put the bike on the kickstand, it had bend from the "weight of the bike".The kickstand is the steel OEM part, and perfectly capable of supporting a fully loaded bike. It had done so on my 60 day trip to Panama. It had functioned without problem. Even when parked in the lot of BC, it was in perfect working condition. The problem was that I could not continue my ride home to California with a bend kickstand. I brought this to the attention of the owner. He already was aware of the issue. He never admitted to his staff having caused the damage to the kickstand. Actually, he put the blame on me. Fact was, the bike was in the care of BC and on company property. I felt, they were ultimately responsible and should pay for the kickstand to be brought back to its workable condition. I just wanted them to perform an oil change, nothing more, nothing less. The kickstand was brought to a welder who fixed it, which was good, because I was able to continue my ride. Here is my complaint about the owner of BC (he never introduced himself or gave me a business card): 1) He did NOT initially approach me to tell me about the bend kickstand. None of his work staff brought the damage to my attention. 2) He did not accept responsibility. In his eyes, my bike was too heavy and that had caused the kickstand to bend. In other words, it was my fault. 3) I had to pay $45 that it had cost to fix the kickstand. 4) The oil change should not have taken longer than 30 minutes, but with the kickstand problem they had created, my ride home was delayed by 4 hours. I was not even offered water or anything that would've made my delay a bit more bearable. I fully understand, that issues can develop and problems do occur. But I feel that while my bike was in the care of and on property of Borderline Customs, the owner should have approached me, introduced himself, acknowledged and fix the problem and taken care of the cost. Just good business practice, which this owner seems to lag. I would not return for business, even if I lived in the Brownsville area.
