I visited Paco's as an ex-Houstonian looking for a nearby restaurant to satisfy my craving for "true" beef fajitas. (Did you know that fajitas were invented in Houston? Look it up.). Sorry, but the local versions of the dish we've tried just haven't worked. Small pieces of meat mixed with cooked vegetables, and sometimes even in a sauce?!? No, true fajitas are simple - marinated, grilled, sliced skirt steak (or chicken, or shrimp) served sizzling, steaming hot with homemade flour tortillas and all the fix-ins. They may be more expensive, sure, but SO darn well worth it. And Paco's - nearly - met our standards. After a couple drinks we ordered the "Outlaw Steak" fajitas as takeout. The fajitas themselves were delicious and truly looked and tasted authentic. My only knock is that they were served on the same, poor hash of cooked onions and peppers that afflict other Mexican restaurants here. There's no need for these! At most, a few lightly-grilled onions will add flavor. Aside from the fajitas, my food and drinks here were a mixed bag. The queso and guacamole were both very good ( the guac is made tableside). However. the chips were too thick and overly seasoned and my margarita was much too tart, not to mention weak. Attractively designed interior, I love the "Western comic" motif by the restrooms. All in all, not bad for a Tex-Mex restaurant that is actually headquartered in Charlotte.

He said there was a miscommunication between him & the cook, so...it happens. He added a ground beef taco for free, so I was good with that. These are 'street tacos' which all that really means is they are on the small side. You have a choice of corn, flour or hard corn tortillas/shells. They will add taco sauce if you wish. The quality is very good, they are fresh and flavorful. Their prices are reasonable as well, $2.75 to $3.75 each. They also have cold beverages on ice, soda and water. The guy at the register told me that business has been good post COVID. They are committed to the location by the Fairway ABC store at the corner of Route 160 (Tom Hall) and Route 460 (Fort Mill Parkway). They plan to add an awning and picnic tables and begin to serve breakfast in the near future. They will also continue to be at the Walter Elisha Park for the summer concert series. I need to get back and try their lengua. It was $12 for the four tacos They're decent size. The pastor pastor was good, but it had a little bit of a sour taste with surprised me. A little citrus would've helped. The Asada was well seasoned but not as crunchy as I like. The tortillas were fine. They provided two salsas. I liked the green, but the reddish sauce had some fire! Always refilling drinks and asking if the order is correct and assisting in any way. The crowds are hit and miss but there seem to be people in and out. The restaurant is clean and unique. We set up our chairs then went inside to place our order. They have TWO lines. One just for beverages, beer, wine & spirits. Then a food line where you can get both. There was a young lady at the front of the line with a wireless device who took our order and money. Michelle got a Fort Millsner and I got a coke. The lady said: 'they will call your name for the drink order and we'll send you a text when the food comes out' After about 10 minutes, they called my name and ONLY the coke came out. We waited for another 5 minutes waiting for the beer to be called, we never got called. I went back up to the counter and explained what happened and they immediately poured a Fort Millsner. We waited another 20 minutes for our food to come out. I got the 3 salmon tacos and Michelle got the Greenway salad. She said it was 'OK'. The flour tortillas were very dry and there was very little salmon on them. Very little pico de gallo and not much avocado flavor, disappointed. All in all we missed about 40 minutes of the concert performance. VERY disappointed with the lack of service. You're not allowed to bring in outside food or beverage. They can do better. There are SO MANY other things to do in Fort Mill so I hope they can turn it around.

Their 3 tamales special is fairly cheap for $11-$12 and come with rice and beans. I say that the quality is a bit dependent on date/time, but this is slightly just a natural issue with the tamales themselves, and how long they can sit in the steamer. Sometimes, they can be a little dry. The only drawback is that the dough to filling ratio can be a little lob sided towards the doughy, which isn't the best. But, flavor-wise, you can't go wrong here!
