This review is for the Soda Fountain (ice cream shop) only…read more Having read my friend Erin's glowing review, I knew I had to stop by this shop for dessert. The business occupies two buildings with the pharmacy on the right and the soda fountain on the left. Each has its own entrance, but they have an open passage way about halfway back into the shops. The Soda Fountain has a retro look with the black and white tiled floor, small round tables with metal chairs, and the walls are covered with displays of old pharmacy items. The counter stretches across the shop and has additional seating (fixed stools) there. The menu of available items is located on a couple small white boards. One features desserts while the other lists sandwiches they offer. I was surprised that a number of ice cream flavors listed had been crossed out, but at least they had the basics covered. And it isn't just the decoration that is retro...I ordered a full sized Banana Split for $3.75! It came with three scoops of ice cream, each having optional toppings to go with! I went with the works, so it started with a sliced ripe banana, then topped with vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream scoops in the long dish. They added marshmallow cream to the chocolate, chocolate syrup to the strawberry, and pineapple to the vanilla. Then came the whipped cream, chopped walnuts, and a cherry on top. Note that they ask if you want all the toppings, and since it is made right in front of me, I could say "no" to anything that I may not like. Really good and since it was the middle of the afternoon, I was able to chat with the staff about Brazil and other points of interest. Just a fun time with affordable and tasty ice cream. I won't say that the retro look made me feel like I did when I was a boy and sat at the counter in my hometown soda fountain/pharmacy. The staff aren't dressed in period costumes, just regular street clothes. But, it was an enjoyable dessert with nice people working there. Review #3750

Why in the WORLD am I the ONLY one who has left a review? Come on, people!…read more One word - AMAZING! This place has charm, nostalgia, and most importantly DELICIOUS ice cream treats! My mother-in-law and I each chose to order ice cream sodas. I had the strawberry-flavored. As the girl at the counter made them, she explained the process of what she was doing. The owner expects things made certain ways to ensure the maximum flavor and richness. I love that they have such high quality standards! While we drank our sodas, she brought us large glasses of ice water. That is unusual in this day and age. You either have to bye a bottle of water or are provided a small cup for luke-warm water. They also offer different sandwiches here in case you wanted to do lunch and dessert. This place is clean, service was beyond awesome, prices were extremely reasonable. Go here!

She was very excited because it looked Siamese and reminded her of a cat she and her husband had several years ago. They don't sell those at CVS (down the street). After waiting several minutes one of the pharm techs told us the insurance card was not going through even though we had just used it at the oral surgeon's office. He explain that it may have worked there but it was not going through with the pharmacy. We took the prescriptions back and went to McKay's. Dr. McKay explained that if we had that problem at CVS it will be the same problem on his computer, which it was. However, he went into further detail explaining to us that we were having this problem because the insurance card was not up to date and that some of the numbers were different. This was something the CVS pharm techs did not explain to us. Dr. McKay continued typing away on his computer trying to figure out a way to help us. Eventually he worked his magic and figured something out to help the insurance go through. Big thanks!

Employees having attitudes is…read moreusually something I let go, sometimes people just have bad days and I get it, but I've had two unpleasant experiences with a manager here twice now within the last couple of weeks. I didn't feel compelled to write a review until an incident today. As many know, theres a new craze surrounding the stuffed animals known as Squishmallows. Unfortunately, I find myself to be in that craze and absolutely adore them, and have for a couple years now. Around this time of year is when they start releasing the Halloween styles at retail locations and if you don't get one the day they put them out, then you might as well not bother because you wont get one at all. A couple weeks ago, I decided to check this walgreens for them. When I first walked in, I didn't see any out on the shelves but I asked an employee in the section if she knew if there were any in stock, since there were a whole bunch of boxes. She checked and there were, and she seemed pretty happy to help. Then the manager walks up, says to me and my partner very grumpily that they don't have any. However, the previous employee had literally started opening the box with the Squishmallows inside. We weren't trying to bother anyone, I always do my best to be polite and try not to interrupt anyone doing their current task. I would expect this attitude from a teenage employee... not someone who's at least in their early thirties and in a higher position. The employee put out all the new arrivals they had gotten and i got one squishmallow between my partner and i. One. Thats the back story for todays incident. On my way to do errands, we stopped in again just to see. We hadn't been having much luck but I thought I'd see anyway. To our luck, they had the one me and my sister in-law have been looking for! They had 6 in stock and we were originally only going to get two, but decided on three because we thought another friend might want one. We walk to the register and the cashier politely tells us that she can only do two per purchase, so we asked if it was okay if we could pay separately for them and she said that was fine. The manager was eavesdropping and told us no and he said we could only get two since we were together. We explained we were paying separate and his attitude kicked in. He said something along the lines of "No, you guys came in together. You're together. I told you guys this last time!" Huh?? We didn't argue, we put the third back. First off, i completely understand restricting purchase quantities, theres a huge scarcity at the moment. However, there was no need for attitude on either occasions. We werent being over bearing, we werent running into the store crazy and snatching all of them up, we dont go in every day asking them if theyve got any in. There was no reason for him to be so outwardly annoyed with us specifically. Secondly, he had not said anything of the sort the last time we visited, if not the shear evidence being that I'd only bought one single squishmallow on my last visit. TLDR: there's no reason to be rude to customers because they come in looking for a product your store sells. Its unfortunate if others have been rude or crazy towards you and your employees, but its highly unfair to treat anyone coming in like they just caused you the biggest inconvenience of your life just by existing.
