Bonnie Castle Resort and Marina - Shower fixture with soap scum and mold

The only redeeming feature of this place is the view--and even that can't distract from how poorly…read moremaintained and unsettling the rest of the experience is. Finding the entrance was like a game of hide-and-seek gone wrong. There's no signage, zero lighting, and walking back at night from the main street feels more like the opening scene of a horror movie than a relaxing vacation. It's eerie, deserted, and downright creepy. The restaurant? Only serves dinner--no breakfast, no lunch. Good luck figuring out when it opens, though. When I asked the teenage staff at Pointe Grill, they stared at me blankly before going back to fishing and smoking off the dock directly in front of the entrance. It was like interrupting their hangout spot, not asking a simple question as a paying guest. The property itself is in serious decline. Dirty, dank, and reeking of cigarettes and mildew. The smell hits you immediately, as do the scattered cigarette butts littering the grounds. It's clear that upkeep is not a priority. To their credit, the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming--but that level of service unfortunately doesn't extend to the rest of the establishment. The rooms with a view of Boldt Castle might sound romantic, but step inside and it's like walking into a forgotten relic of the 1970s. The decor is outdated to the point of being uncomfortable: mirrored walls, an aging jacuzzi, and cheap, bubbling vinyl flooring that looks like it was installed by someone's cousin over a weekend. The door to our room didn't even seal properly--it looked like it had been kicked in at least once, maybe more. The balcony was filthy, crawling with bugs, covered in vines, and in desperate need of a power wash. The railing was rickety and rusted--definitely not somewhere you'd want to linger with a drink in hand. As for amenities, the hot water took a full ten minutes to arrive, which felt symbolic of the overall experience: slow, neglected, and not worth the wait. For the price per night, this place is a complete letdown. It feels more like a rundown roadside motel than the getaway it pretends to be. Skip it. There are far better options in the area that actually care about their guests--and their property.

I don't recommend this place hair all in my Jacuzzi tub., we came on the weekend that they were jumping into the water, the polar bear challenge so the man directed us to a side road to park because he said the parking area for the guest. We're all taken by just strangers nobody that belong to the hotel so me and my husband had to walk a half a mile with our bags in tow unprofessional

So, so much good stuff about The Ledges. We stayed in the Harbor House, one of the twin, floating…read morehouses. It was lovely. It was pleasant to watch the "small" boats coming in and out of the harbor while hanging on the deck. Nearly all of them were respectfully quiet and waited to turn on their speakers till they were a distance away. Even more fun was watching the freighters go by on the river. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The view from the small section along the shore was stunning, with sunset views of Boldt Castle. The pool was clean, fire-pits were well stocked, and there were plenty of sturdy outdoor seating areas. I am not sure if Nick is the owner or manager, but he answered all of my pre-trip questions quickly and accommodatingly. In person, he was friendly and helpful. There were several thoughtful touches in the house. For example, a lovely cart to help transport our luggage from our car. After rearranging the furniture a bit, we had enough space to be perfectly comfortable. I was so close to deciding on five stars (especially to balance out the low ratings here...which I have a hard time understanding). However, a few things: The windows of our bedroom were filthy with bird poop (I imagine they are very tricky to clean and can only be done occasionally). The doors, floors, and table tops were sticky (from cleaning products, maybe?). The road has a dangerous, curving blind hill. I'm not sure anything could be done about it, but it is important to be aware of it when approaching. Out of the control of the owners and managers is the attitude of the neighbors. They appear to believe that it is acceptable to blare music from early morning till late at night in an attempt to keep the geese off of their yard. The ridiculous volume and the flood light shining at The Ledges were shockingly rude, but not the fault of The Ledges. Overall, I'm grateful for an absolutely beautiful spot to enjoy a lovely long weekend with our friends, and would likely go back. Thank you Nick and the rest of the staff!

Cute little cabins looking into the st Lawrence. It's a slight hike into town but doable. Very well…read morekept grounds and rooms.
