Before starting, Nelson walked all around the house with me to see what I expected would be done and how it would be accomplished. There was some rotted wood that needed replacing and they removed a small wooden structure then offered to shear of the bolts in the cement for safety. They even did some helpful things for me, like removing some chicken wire, moving a table and grill and to my surprise, someone coiled up the cord to the lawn mower, which I'll never be able to duplicate. I thought it was weird Rex Roofing was interested in the job I initiated as a Yelp Project because…read moreI haven't seen anything remotely resembling my 1200sqft 1970 ranch house on their website or socials, and I'm in Longmont while they're based in Castle Rock. Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.

DO NOT HIRE. I've…read morehad contractors work on more than a dozen homes, and Eastside painters is among the worst quality work I have ever seen. I hired them to paint my living room, kitchen, loft, and addition. Their work was so bad that the Small Claims Court ruled in my favor against them (and as of the writing of this, Tyler Pate and Jeremy Nosbush still owe more than $800 that they refuse to pay). If you did/do hire them and they are attempting to intimidate you into paying for sub-standard work, feel free to contact me directly. You can read my story below. Tyler and Jeremy, the owners of Eastside Painters, are dishonest. They did not use a single product that they bid for the job. They downgraded the wall paint quality, didn't use the same line of ceiling paint, and didn't use any primer (despite several accent walls that were dark colors). They did all of this without giving me any notice or seeking a change order of any sort. It wasn't until I was preparing for court that I was able to determine the lengths to which they went in breaching their contract. In addition to the dishonestly of corner-cutting on materials, Eastside Painters does poor quality work. They caused thousands of dollars of damage to exposed ceiling beams in two rooms. Their prep work (covering small holes and defects) was so sloppy that even they had to admit in court that they would not have accepted their own work. They lied about having done two coats of paint (which is what they bid) and were reprimanded on it in court. Finally, Tyler and Jeremy are vindictive. When I refused to pay their full invoice--offering to pay the invoice minus the cost of repairing the property they damaged--they engaged in a systematic campaign of intimidation and threats to try to get paid. They put a lien on my house, not to exercise their right to use a mechanics lien but as an attempt to intimidate me into paying the full invoice. When I refused to comply, they threatened to have felony charges brought against me (which they have no authority to do). When that didn't work, they called and/or emailed organizations I work or volunteer with and told outright lies about me in an attempt to get me removed from those organizations. Their threats and intimidation did not work on me, and if they are trying similar tactics against you, feel free to contact me directly.

They had a guy come out to estimate the job and stage material and equipment including scaffolding to protect the counters above our lofted ceiling. Worker (Roy) came out the next day, and finished the entire job including texture in less than one day. Most of the work was prep: Masking, tarping, taping, to protect the rest of the kitchen and counter tops. Excellent work!
