Spendy - but excellent for my occasional bouts of acne.

My favorite aunt comes to visit me several times a year armed with a suitcase full of skincare and cosmetics from Korea. My girls and I have been spoiled with Etude House, Missha, Innisfree, Tony Moly, Nature Republic, Holika Holika and Skinfood beauty products and cosmetics. Asian women are the biggest spenders on beauty products. They have impeccable skin - as one would expect from a rigorous 5-8 step cleansing regimen vs westerners 3 basic steps of cleanse, tone, moisturize. Because Korea has less red tape, they have access to science based, result driven skin and beauty products a good decade before we get it here. This is why I love the suitcase full of things my aunt brings me. I have been shopping at Kukje market for a long time. I never thought to go to the beauty area - Joy Cosmetics (and Amore Pacific Skincare brands) because I didn't recognize any brand names of the items I get from Korea. Shiseido doesn't count because I can buy that anywhere. Amore Pacific Skincare brands are sold at both Sephora and Nordstrom. Laneige is sold at Target. BUY THOSE HERE. Ask the ladies here who are familiar with the products because they have used them for years. Give your money to this specialty mom and pop. Right? Right. Well, I've done the legwork and bought a lot of things in different trips, tried many samples, and took the time to really use the products I bought to determine if I'd repurchase or not and if it compared to what I got from my aunt. I feel confident recommending the ladies here to anyone interested in trying or replenishing your current Asian skincare. They often have sales on certain things like sheet masks. Ah! I also get my shampoo, conditioner, and argan oil here. WAIT. The one older lady is kind of mean. I would avoid her ...a lot. My auntie is getting older and with that comes my apprehension to send her a list of requests. I can now buy Korean hair products, skincare, and cosmetics right here! What special pampering have you done for your skin or hair today? Stop by - check things out. You might get inspired to amp up your routine that will bring out your best self!

So sweet of Park to write me a remind note. Love Joy Cosmetics:")

Daly City's BEST kept beauty secret! SHHHHH!!! Amidst the rolling fog is one of Daly City's hidden gems. Located inside the Kukje Super Market is Joy Cosmetics, a Korean and Japanese cosmetics haven. Joy Cosmetics carries Korean and Japanese brand make-up, creams, masks, body lotion, toiletries, nail polish, beauty tools (e.g. tweezers) and faux eye lashes. Other than the Shiseido brand, everything may look foreign to you (it did to me) at Joy Cosmetics but the friendly and knowledgeable owner is very good about explaining EACH product; the background, the ingredients and how it works. They also carry BB cream (all-in-one: moisturizer, whitener, concealer, foundation and sunblock) which is ALL the rage in Korea and Japan. http://www.squidoo.com/b-b-cream They have over 8 brands of BB cream at Joy Cosmetics. I tried the IASO brand ($60) but the product itself just wasn't for me. Most BB creams contain whitener to fade blemishes, age spots, and acne which I don't have. I'm already SO white that I reflect light back into space and can use white-out as foundation. However, being the typical Chinese woman, my mom believes in "the paler the better" so I gave her my BB cream which she LOVES. She told me that it saves her a lot of time. My mom uses the BB cream in lieu of face cream, foundation, powder and sunblock, and it has been gradually fading her brown age spots. Because imitation is the greatest form of flattery, US brands like Boscia, Smashbox and Estee Lauder will be launching their version of the BB cream in the next few months. http://imabeautygeek.com/2011/11/21/bb-creams-what-the-newest-beauty-craze-is-all-about/ Let's face it ladies, beauty products and make-up can get EXPENSIVE. Sorry but $.99 Wet 'N Wild ain't gonna cut it these days...the Chola makeup look is long, long gone. Thank gawd because the "sharpie pen" eyebrows were so not the biz. At Joy Cosmetics, you will find that some products are the fraction of the cost of the ones you will find at Sephora or at your local department store make-up counter and will work just as well or even better. I was a hardcore Shu Uemura fan and was devastated when they closed shop in the US last year. At $25 a pair, I spent at least $100 on lashes a month with one wear each. You know how it is...you come home DRUNK at 3 AM and in a daze you rip them off (damaging them) or wake up to find your pillow grew a pair of lashes. Looking for alternatives to my beloved Shu Uemura lashes, came Darkness. At just $4 a pop at Joy Cosmetics, I was skeptical but after one year of using them, I'm a huge fan of Darkness. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/R5PsrJGctYo_ikTbZJv9uQ?select=keXIxQ1qWms_rl2DC0kezw I wear them every day and they are even BETTER than Shu Uemura. The band is thicker and the lashes less flimsy; I've gotten at least 4-5 uses for each one. I've even received more compliments than when I used the Shu Uemura lashes...from people that work at the make-up counter at Nordies! Want that ultra-sultry "whore lash" look (that my guy friend likes to call it)? Stack 'em! It does wonders. In less than 5 minutes, you'll look as FUCable as Tera Patrick. BELIEVE ME. ( ^ _ ~ ) With allergies, my eyes tend to water a lot but with the magical Darkness Eyelash Glue, I've come home the NEXT day at noon and they were STILL on! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/R5PsrJGctYo_ikTbZJv9uQ?select=Cadb6kqbTchKsQMutjvgZw Ok, NOT what you're thinking people! Sheesh...

Don't be a fool. Their price is $2 dollar expensive than Neiman Macus, plus NO REFUND.

=WATCH OUT= I highly suggest people check the price before purchasing, NO REFUND here. And their price is slightly expensive than department store such as NW. ($38 vs. $36 for Sulwhasoo cleansing oil....and I have just realized it is not refundable) 1. No refund, exchange only! 2. They sell the same product but expensive than Neiman Marcus (NM offers Free Shipping! Plus, Free Returns) 3. If you can't speak Korean, they tend to ignore you 4. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in the Bay Area 5. The staff is lack of training, they didn't tell customers that everything is not refundable when you pay. You will sooner realize the unfair rule from your receipt which they intend to leave it in the bag without asking.

I drive all the way to Daly City (from east Bay Area- Walnut Creek) just to come here!! The selection at the Oakland Korean market is super small compared to here!! I love how there are so many different products to choose from and Anna is so so HELPFUL and KIND!!!! Best costumer service ever!! She is so kind and helpful in recommending products for my sensitive skin!! I love how organized everything is in her store and all the variety of cute lotions and face masks etc!! She even helped me wrap the Shiseido products in a cute bag for my grandmas birthday present. I totally recommend this place. You will NOT be disappointed !!

Laneige water bank essence:) 35$ tho:( #koreanproducts

I spend way too much money here, but they have a large stock of Korean face products I use; mainly whoo and Sulwasoo.

Very nice office staff, and they were able to see me in very short order! :-) Dr. Wu came into the examination room with a colleague who he then asked to examine my ears. She was very thorough and even set up a hearing tone test immediately afterward. I've always had to schedule separate appointments for those, so I was REALLY happy to be able to do it so quickly! The end result is that my hearing was indeed affected by all that clubbing and that I should take it easy as I'm also getting older. All that said, I think I'm going to schedule annual visits here since I've always had ear problems when I was a little kid (back then I apparently had an ear infection that almost killed me, but I don't remember any of it since I was so young). I've got tinnitus, too, and I'm thinking the chickens are coming home to roost with all the problems I had when I was little. So annual checkups it is!

I ended up here because I bought a Groupon for an eyelash perm. It was a bit out of the way (I live…read morein Oakland), but a great price so I went for it. I'd expected a more typical salon, but I was delighted to find that the entire first floor is dedicated to imported Asian beauty products. In the couple minutes before my appointment, I was finally able to test the Biore Water Essence 50+ SPF I've been wanting to try for a while (I bought it). Right at my appointment time, I was led upstairs and the attendant made sure I had a second to use the restroom (the perm would take about 40 mins). So I went to the bathroom and changed into my glasses, then went into a semi-private room where the attendant laid me down on a futon-like bed (and even gave me a comforter!) She applied this little plastic contraption to each of my eyes, applied the perm solution, and left me to sit for about 20 mins with some fun and relaxing music in the background. Then she came back, removed the first contraption, applied a little eyelash serum, put another contraption on my eye, then some more perm solution and left me for another 20 minutes. In those 40 minutes, I got two quick naps in and also got some REALLY curled eyelashes. The only thing that could have been cool was if they had a tint to make my eyelashes darker -- kill two birds with one stone, ya know? This seems to be a typical service at other eyelash perm places I've looked at. However, I also know that the way they do your lashes at Dazzling is a little different so it's possible that the mechanism they're using wouldn't support a dye, too. I'll definitely be back (I got the 2-pack Groupon), and next time I'll be staying to try out a couple more products! The only con: a little hard to find. My GPS took me to the wrong shopping center. Wondering if they were potentially at a different location before? But using the actual street address instead of searching for Dazzling in Google Maps fixed that problem and it was only a 2 minute walk away!
