Joy did a AMAZING job on my wedding dress! It was originally so snug I could barely breathe - previous seamstresses told me that my only option to loosen it up would be to install a corset. Joy did not agree, and was able to loosen it up just fine without disturbing the style. It was still tight, but it was tight in the right places and looser in areas that were previously very uncomfortable and somewhat unflattering. She also talked me into doing a new sew in bra - and I am SO happy I did, it looked way better in photos. I received a ton of compliments. Highly recommend! read more

I went to Joys for my wedding dress to get done, she was very helpful at first, had my dress for a month went a couple times to get it to see if it was done This time I went in and she helped me snap it in the back and said I gained weight & my back was fat I'm already self conscious about my body. She told me to come back and I told her to fix it I don't have enough time (wedding is 3 weeks or less) I hope that other brides don't ever have to experience this. read more

Joys place was very lovely and she got the dress done in a timely manner. However, when picking the dress back up she told my bridesmaid/friend she had gained weight and her back was fat when she in fact took the dress in too tight herself. My friend has been unbelievably upset all day while already having high functioning anxiety to begin with. Please be more professional with your customer service in the future miss Joy, and own up to you're own mistakes instead of ruining a brides day. read more

Great service! Brought in my work uniform to have the seam fixed, when she asked when I needed it by I asked if I could get it within the next couple of days. She informed me that it was actually the start of her vacation but to come back in an hour and it would be ready. She called me to let me know it was ready in under an hour and also sewed the other seams in the poor quality dress to reinforce it. She was very sweet, efficient and affordable. She only charged me $25! I highly recommend going to her! read more

I never thought I would pay someone $190 to destroy my $2,000 designer wedding dress but that is exactly what happened when I toook my dress to Joy Alterations. The heavily embroidered and beaded dress needed to be hemmed and on top of being very expensive she did a horrible job. The dress had a sheer overlayer and a satin underlayer. She hemmed the underlayer without being asked or given permission. That she made too short and you could see my feet when I walked. The sheer outerlayer with the embroidery looked terrible. She hacked off the bottom and sloppily attached it higher up, leaving the layer underneath. The tulle was jagged and there was an obvious line of stiches. She also did a bustle that did not look very pretty. The satin buttons she used on it were grubby looking and looked like they had pen marks on them. The dress looked so bad. I think I could have done a better job myself. Anything I tried to address with her she would say "that's okay." It is obvious that she had no respect for the property of others or the fact that she ruined my dream wedding dress. I just hope someone reads this and is saved having their dress destroyed. read more

She was the only tailor open on Saturday in the whole destin/FWB/Niceville area which was Easter weekend. Had to have a pair of pants hemmed for an interview with a deadline. She lacks pleasantries, but clearly is hard working. Cash only FYI. read more

I'm from out of town and I just needed a quick fix for a wedding the following day. Gave her a call and asked if she could hem my bridesmaid dress tomorrow and she did not hesitate to say yes and told me to come in now. I came and she told me to come back in a few hours and it would be ready. This woman was a life saver and her place of work was very clean and professional. She was so cordial!!! I am going to a wedding in 2 weeks and needed my dress length altered and my straps cut and shortened. She prioritized my dress and did it in 2 hours rather than making me wait a week. I really appreciate that. The price for three modifications was $75. For short notice I think that's pretty good. read more

There was a 4 star review for this alteration shop, so I thought I would give it a shot. Also the woman who runs it was Asian so I thought I would get a good alteration (simple hem on slacks). The price was responsible for the service at $12 however the quality was definitely not worth a dollar. When I picked up my slacks they were very wrinkled and she asked if I had a iron as hers was broken. After inspection of the work it was amateurish at best. There was six places in the seam that had gaps large enough for me to put my finger through. When I called about the quality I was told that sometimes the sewing machine sometimes skips. I ask why the quality of the work was apparently never checked. She did not have a answer. She did offer to try and make it right. However after her first attempt, I did not feel comfortable with her working on a expensive suit. I will be taking it to another shop for the corrected alterations. read more

What a terrible experience. My husband and I went into Joys over a week before we were to go on a trip of a lifetime cruise on the Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Mary for a month. We brought in my husbands two custom tailored tuxedo shirts only to have a button hole added to each one. Joy told him that we could pick up the shirts at any time on the following Friday. My husband showed up a week later (Friday) at 2:45pm, and the shop was closed! Her signs state that she is open until 10am-4pm. So he bangs on the door, rings the bell, no response. He calls her repeatedly and gets a "we are closed" voicemail. He waits outside her shop for 30 minutes, thinking she might show. HE IS IN A PANIC! There is no way we're going to find another tuxedo shirt and have it tailored now. After additional phone calls, Joy finally answers the phone and tells me that she will open the door. (SHE WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME!!!) She tells my husband that she's "not feeling well today". Luckily, the button holes had been completed. Long story short- she can't be troubled to answer the door, or the telephone when she's "not feeling well", but she sure took our $25.00 for the button holes! (and who knows how many years off my poor husband's life) Take your alterations someplace else. read more
