The price, service and the hospitality are all better then any hair salon I have been to in Greenwich (CT) or in the city (NY). An few added pluses to share: They use a great line of organic and vegan shampoos and conditioners; They do not push products on you; If you do not want to pay to have your hair dried, you are welcome to use one of their hair dryers and do it yourself and When they shampoo/conditioner your hair you get a wonderful scalp massage.

Prices are reasonable for the quality and service and you save yourself a trip into NYC. I was honored to receive my color treatment and cut from Mr. Yasunori Watanabe, who is the President and CEO! He gave me partial highlights and trimmed my hair into a nicely angled cut. I love it! Thank you!

I prefer Japanese hair salons bc of their attention to detail. When I called the King Street Salon to make an appointment I spoke with a woman whose name I…read moreunfortunately forgot. I told her that I prefer to pay by credit card. She told me that most of the stylists are not local and only take cash or check. But I could get my hair colored by Carolyn who was local and accepts credit cards. However, Carolyn doesn't cut hair but another woman, Rose, is local and would accept my credit card. I'd have to come on two separate days. The day of my first appointment with Rose, I received a VM from the salon confirming my appointment and reminding me to bring cash or check. I immediately called the salon back. Rose told me that she doesn't accept credit cards and would I like to cancel. I said "yes." Then Carolyn got on the phone and told me it was unprecedented to be canceling the day of the appointment. I said that I did not want to cancel but that I just wanted to pay by credit card and that I was told Rose accepts payment by credit card. Instead of saying there must have been a misunderstanding, Carolyn told me I was not welcome at the salon and cancelled my appointment with her the following week even after confirming that she accepts credit cards. It's my prerogative to choose to pay by credit card and I did everything necessary to accomplish that. To be told I'm not welcomed in the salon after the salon caused the problem is no way to treat anyone.

She told me she "didn't recommend it" and that all I needed to do to protect my hair was cut it. (What does that even mean???) As a result when I left my hair was drier than straw and did not feel smooth at all. What's worse is she missed an entire section of my hair when straightening. She definitely made the few split ends I had massively worse. I paid, tipped and then had to go home and redo my hair myself. Disappointing and easily could have been avoided if she would have just listened to me. After all, I've been living with my hair for 33 years, so I do know a little bit about what works for it.
