Where do I begin? Wish I could give 0 stars…read more I came the first business day of the year for an intake appointment. Was hassled about my insurance (I have insurance, thank you) and informed that I needed to "pay down my high deductible" I don't have a high deductible plan, I have a PPO with a co-pay. Lady doesn't believe me and tells me to call my insurance company. She won't give me my card, because she needs it and gives me a post-it note for me to write down the info myself. Remember, first business day of the new year. I call and wait on hold for 15 minutes (literally), only for them to confirm that yes, I have a $35 co-pay. Asked 10 separate times if I would make a payment that day. [this is the very first time I've been here]. At the end of the appointment, no one ever asked me to pay! Counselor says, "oh, we'll just bill you." Goodness, would have saved a lot of hassle. Also hassled for proof of income that no one had told me previously to bring. Asked multiple times. Again, I'm not looking for a handout. I have insurance. Took 40 minutes to check in. Amount of paperwork was ungodly. Over 50% of the questions had absolutely nothing to do with why I was there. Then, I turn in the paperwork and I'm called up where the ladies continue to ask more questions. She never asks for the city I live in. I ask her if she needs that.. and she mentions no. Come to find out, she put the wrong city in! OOP, can't fix it, so has to DELETE my profile and START OVER. I pondered walking out multiple times, but decide that the counselor will probably be sane and normal. He was.. strange. His office was trashed and his calendar was on May (it's Jan). He had absolutely no empathy, barely looked at me and simply asked "Why are you here?" Not in a.. "this should make you think" way, but a wth are you doing here type way. Halfway through, it's determined that I should have a female counselor. He walks me out and says, "keep on us if we don't call you about making an appointment. Just keep on us." Glad I wasted 3 hours of my life.. for nothing. Entire experience was abrasive, inefficient. What if I was abused/timid, really did need some serious encouragement? NOT the environment. RUN.

January 3, 2018…read more Shelby County Counseling Center has provided me with support and guidance even after I missed some appointments. They provide a walk-in service which allows access to a therapist if the need arises. I was particularly impressed when everyone called me by my name on my second visit. I was dismayed at the amount of personal information I was required to provide, but I suppose it was necessary to get the help I needed and the help has been very good for me. I recommend this center to anyone needing or wanting a mental tune-up. 'sqwrmy'

I've been seeing Nicole for over 3 years, and she's been an absolute staple in my life. What I…read moreappreciate most is that she's incredibly straightforward and to the point--no fluff, no circling around the issue. She's honest, clear, and always focused on helping you move forward in a way that works for you. What makes Nicole unique is her holistic approach. She offers more than just talk therapy--there's also energy work, foot detox, and hypnosis, all of which she introduces thoughtfully. If she thinks a particular modality might help, she'll explain it in a way that's easy to understand, but she's never pushy. She's completely flexible with your treatment plan and always respects your comfort level and where you are emotionally and physically. When I went through a difficult period of depression after several rounds of antibiotics, Nicole went above and beyond. She not only supported me emotionally, but also advocated for me with my GP about short-term medications that my doctor wasn't well-versed in. Her ability to bridge the gap between mental health and physical wellness made a huge difference in my recovery. Another thing I love is that she's religious and is open to incorporating faith into our conversations, which has brought even deeper meaning and comfort during our sessions. Nicole is grounded, compassionate, and deeply committed to her clients. I can't recommend her enough.

Clearly they have too much of a workload on them to be able to perform daily tasks paperwork is not being submitted to the parties, requesting this data in order to receive disability payments, which is sad because I'm counting on this money as I am disabled at this time I was told when requesting this that they need more time and I need to bear with them because the workload is so much they only have enough time one day a week and she's only one person one this is completely unprofessional and two no empathy whatsoever for what I'm going through and I'm a patient hopefully they can fix this and tighten it up. As for the doctors care or the nurse practitioner is very nice and gives exceptional care, but again the paperwork isn't being signed and forwarded. Hopefully they can fix this in this practice. P.S. the audacity for the desk lady to sit there and say well it's free we're not charging you yeah but I'm pretty sure they're getting paid for my visits, what a cold and shallow response. I'm glad this practice gets paid while I sit here and wait to get my last disability check.
