She suggested going to Dr. Miller and right away he was able to determine that my son broke his Hammate bone. He gave us the option to give it time to let it heal on it's own (which originally sounded like the best option), but then he stated that it will likely break again given that my son plays multiple sports. He then gave the option to have surgery to remove the broken bone. The surgery was quick and easy. His entire staff was wonderful as they took care of my son and all of his concerns. He was healed in 6 weeks and is back to hitting and working out in preparation for his coming Spring basball season. We're thankful that our son was able to find someone so knowledgable and caring to help us through this.

I reserve five stars for truly exceptional experiences, and my visit to Town Center Orthopaedics…read morecertainly earned them. Dr. Messerly and his team were outstanding across the board. My visit was driven by the fact that I had fallen and fractured my big toe. Pros: - Scheduling was a breeze; the representative was knowledgeable and efficient. - The front desk staff was pleasant and made the check-in process smooth. - The medical assistant was professional, efficient, and welcoming. - Dr. Messerly was the highlight of the visit. He was genuinely interested in listening to my concerns and never made me feel dismissed, even though I am not a medical professional. He remained patient and receptive, even when I went a bit off-topic. I had specific concerns regarding potential arthritis related to occasional gout, and he took the time to fully address them. Most importantly, he never made me feel rushed; in an era where medicine often feels like "big business," his dedication to a thorough, unhurried visit was incredibly refreshing. Cons: - The intake process for documenting medications was frustrating. The digital form was not user-friendly, and due to the difficulty of navigating the required app on my phone and the tablet at the office, my medications were not documented correctly.

The medical assistant (I think it was Connor) was super nice and took me back to the examining room to go over the issues I was having. After that I had x-rays and the technician was super nice/efficient. Dr. Seal came in shortly after and we agreed I'd work on core strengthening through physical therapy and if the sciatica/piriformis didn't improve after a month I'd have an MRI. Unfortunately I was unable to get in for physical therapy at the Fairfax office, but Dr. Seal told me I could go anywhere for the physical therapy (didn't have to be with Town Center Ortho). I started core exercises on my own and then found a studio for pilates utilizing a reformer, which I've started over the past couple of weeks and that's been going very well. My experience with Town Center Ortho was very positive, staff was nice and efficient and I did not wait more than 5-10 minutes, after finishing my paperwork, before I was called back. The only negative I'd note and it's very subjective - based on me running on the warmer side - I was in a back corner room that was getting a lot of sunlight that day and it was really warm... I was tempted to open a window lol.

I waited another 20 minutes and I decided to leave. I am 67 years old and have NEVER left a doctor's office in my life. I told the front desk why I left. Five minutes after leaving, I received a phone call from the PA who told me they were short staffed. She invited me to come in today at my convenience to complete the treatment, but I could not. I will not be returning to this practice. This all could have been avoided by a kind explanation at any point in time while I was in the office.

I was seen by Dr. Jay Ryan at this practice back starting in 2025. I went to him for diagnosed foot…read morepain, and he constantly said multiple issues existed. He kept pushing for injections and surgeries. These injections were costly and did not work, and even after understanding that, he kept emphasizing the injections. Finally after refusing the injections multiple times, he suggested multiple surgeries. Dr. Ryan performed one surgery on July 2025, and one again on January 2026. Every time I was seen for debilitating foot pain, he suggested surgery. After each surgery completed, my foot pain got worse and now I can't walk. Dr. Ryan also provided an inaccurate estimate of how long my recovery would be, he did a very intense surgery where a portion of my heel was removed, metal hardware was taken out, and he said I would be able to walk in 2 weeks. Several months later, even after physical therapy, I am unable to walk. I don't think I will ever be able to walk again. After one of my surgeries I was scheduled for a post op with Dr. Ryan, and upon arriving, I was told I could not be seen by him. Dr. Kaas ended up seeing me, and she did not provide a thorough exam of my incisions. She stood on one side of the room where she could not examine my entire foot, and I had multiple stitches on all sides of my feet. Dr. Kaas glanced at me and told me I looked fine. She then denied me any pain medications even though I was told to ask, and I needed them. The front office also is not communicative, and unhelpful. I've had to ask them multiple times to send in pain medication that I needed URGENTLY after my surgery, and they waited days to do so even after they told me they would send it same day. They also refused to prescribe me pain medication, they said a Dr. had to sign off on it but still made me wait - even though Dr. Ryan said he'd send it same day. I feel as though my pain levels were completely disregarded and misdiagnosed at this practice. The front office is also not clear on how the billing works, they never communicated that there would be more than one bill for one surgery, and they also charge a hefty credit card surcharge/processing fee, which I feel is already unfair, and not done at any other practice. Also, for being a medical office that specializes in foot and ankle care, their building is NOT accessible, at all. There are multiple stairs and a steep incline going into the building, no automatic doors at the office. It was extremely hard trying to maneuver an office being disabled and using mobility aids that I brought like a wheelchair, a scooter, a walker, crutches, and a cane. I don't think I will ever be able to walk again after being seen by both Dr. Ryan and Dr. Kaas. Please avoid this office at all costs.

If you would of asked me to review Spine and Joint when I started treatment October 2013 I would…read morehave given it 5 stars without even thinking about it. But since then a lot of things have changed. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Felix is very personable and memorizes every patients names and is very nice. He is very good at what he does, after my car accident it was a pleasure going every week to get adjusted and therapy with Dr. Felix. All in all the service and chiropractic care is great, Dr. Felix is a great doctor. But here is the reason I am only giving them one star. Never in my life have I been so disrespected and lied to by a doctor in my life. Since I went to Spine and Joint after I got into a car accident I had to have everything filed through the person that hit me's car insurance. The car insurance, mentioned that once the treatment was over we would have to get the itemized bills from the doctor and start the reimbursement process, but for now I would pay all co-pays out of pocket. Seeing that I graduated from college in 2013, paying out of pocket was really difficult, because of my student loans. I started treatment in October 2013 and my last day of treatment was March 2014, I definitely felt better and healthier. However, getting the itemized bills was the hard part. Our insurance holder tried calling Dr. Felix multiple times and had no response. I then had to take time to call and leave several messages because over a month went by and there was no response from spine & joint. This went on for several months, leading no where. Tried to be patient but by August I was starting to get really frustrated, and finally talked to Dr. Felix over the phone he assured me that he mailed all the paperwork. After 2 weeks, the insurance had still not received anything. To make a long story short, he basically told me he mailed and faxed it twice, with insurance never receiving anything. After me driving down to his office to speak to him face to face he finally faxed it in in November! It took 8 months for him to submit an itemized bill, and I was lied to and ignored multiple times. This story could be even longer and more frustrating, but I'll save everyone from having to read all the details. All in all, if you are going to a chiropractor due to an accident that you will late claim, I would strongly recommend to stay away from Spine and Joint.

Unfortunately, that level of professionalism was not carried through the therapy sessions. Even at the first session, the therapist got me started with each exercise and then left without monitoring my mechanics. The therapists congregated at a center hub which required trying to get someone's attention if you had a question or after finishing the exercise. Then they would come over and instruct what to do next and walk off again. They also oversaw multiple clients at the same time so there was little personal attention. Half of my sessions were done by an unlicensed trainee who was not being supervised. Some of the exercises she gave me ended up making my problem worse but no one checked with me to see how I was doing. I also had to repeatedly ask for a printout of my exercises so I could do them at home. After a while, I would just write my own notes. I wasn't even confident that I was doing them correctly as I was only told once what to do. At the end of the 8 sessions, I walked out of there with no follow up evaluation and no discussion about further sessions. I was left with the feeling of lack of interest in my progress as if I had fallen through the cracks and no one cared how I was doing. Very different from another practice that gives one-on-one attention throughout all the sessions and careful monitoring of mechanics and progress.
