Alas! A non commercial charity shop that hasn't started charging ridiculous prices for its stock!…read moreMuch unlike the highly overprices Oxfam's and Banardo's that plague the high streets, animal rescue is a very reasonably priced, honest, friendly charity shop. The shop is pretty big in terms of standard sized charity shops, and they have a wide range of stock inside. This ranges from women's and men's clothes, to books, CD's, DVD's, computer games, board games, ornaments, vinyl, cassettes and other random bits and bobs. All the VHS videos are 50p each and they seem to get loads of them in. It's pretty cool routing through them all because there are some that never made it to DVD and they're worth a watch if you still have a VHS machine. These include old music videos which may be a gem for an avid music collector!

It has an excellent range of stock including men, women and children's clothing. They have a large selection of books of all types. I like the selection of board games where you can pick up an old game for next to nothing and be a bit nostalgic with your friends. Other items include ornaments, toys, jewellery, records, tapes, Cd's and textiles. Everything here is very cheap. You won't pay more than £1 for most items, and if something is more its usually a good as new piece of clothing. The staff here are lovely and happy to leave you to mooch around for as long as you like.

The reason I find it weird is because this place gives me the creeps but in an interesting fashion! It is almost Adams family like in nature and I used to love the Adams family! The store has now moved to a bigger location after it had to be closed due to the Paradise Street Project in 2008. It hosts the type of wear that would attract those who are more gothic and emo in style, so it is a great store to have as you won't find a similar store anywhere else.

I still think it's great, they've got some cool vintage shops with wacky names like 'Curious Orange' and a piercing studio upstairs which I'd definitely recommend even if I personally wouldn't get my nose pierced again. Also, I noticed a small Tarot reading stall tucked away amid the labyrinth of mini shops; I don't put any stock in that but it could be a bit of a laugh. So if it's a blast from the past, some 'Cult Vinyl' or luminous nail-varnish and hair-dye you were looking for, you need search no further.

Anything from mugs, 'The Beatles' picture frames and football memorabilia, they have here. The shop is quite spacious with several welcoming staff that greet you with a smile each time you enter. All prices in general are cheap with all funds going towards a good cause for helping local families and children. This shop offers more variety than most of the smaller charity shops as they fit in items such as ornaments, clothes and crockery. As well as that, they have the usual suspects like children's books and videos. The shop generates a good browse whenever passing by, because there is always something new in the window display. Their store in Aigburth is fairly standard as far as charity shops go but can throw up some real surprises with some furniture on sale being brand new and of a high quality. The staff here work hard for the cause and their enthusiasm and friendliness is infectious and I could not have been more impressed with their attitude. On the whole the point here is not about how good the business is although it is a well run one, the point is that these people are working for a good cause and the people of Liverpool should support it.

There is a small area of the shop which is like your usual charity shop with books, records, ornaments, glassware toys and shoes. But I also saw a lot of dresses that looked like the kind that weren't even that popular back when they were made. Prices were reasonable--dresses generally started around £20.

Most of the shops seemed to be closed when I went in midday, however Hope & Winkle Vintage was open, and they are well worth the visit. There's a very interesting hat shop opposite Hope & Winkle which looks to serve nearly every possible hat need you could imagine. Sarah Daly hair studio is on the second or third floor, up a very windy staircase, as is the vintage clothing shop which seemed closed when I was there. All in all, a very cute shopping arcade.
