If they are out of their depth or need a second opinion they have sent us to Purdue University which I appreciate. I'm on my last dog as I don't want to leave any pets behind. Dr Duncan is now the senior veterinarian, though I remember when she first began. She does her best to work with my now limited income which has helped so much, and Andrea has been grooming my dogs since she was just a youngster. My Lhasa Apsos have given her plenty of hair to work with over the years. You can count on their choice in flea and tick protection, too, as I live out in the county where deer, coyotes, and ground squirrels surrond my yard, yet I have not seen one bug on my animals in many decades. SBAC has cared for my pets from the first to my last, and I thank them! Mary Beth

I called to get a urinalysis done, and I was told he could not be seen there and that I must take him to the emergency vet. I understand that male cats can get blockages, but either way, a urinalysis must be done to determine what the issue is. The woman on the phone was rude to me -- this is unacceptable. I then called my dog's vet, spoke to the receptionist, and took my cat there within the next hour. He has a UTI, is now on antibiotics and special food, and will get rechecked in three weeks. I will never return to the South Bend Animal Clinic, nor will I recommend it to anyone else. Thumbs down.

I guess they let all 30 dogs go out to play at the same time with no separation of bigger /smaller dogs. I asked to transfer the package to my 2nd dog who was a puppy and not neutered yet and was waiting until they were 2 years as recommended, - they said it's fine and I can use it whenever...but when new management took over they didn't notify us through email or anything that packages expire. So now we just wasted a few hundred for nothing because they won't honor it. Crappy new management who won't work with their customer- you could have earned more money in the future if you actually tried to meet in the middle with a solution. They wanted me to buy more services- NO THANKS.

Then, being asked by staff to leave the exam room where my dog and I were waiting, walk with my dog by the unfortunate pet, and go into the back room stuffed with operating table, equipment, supplies, lab, and caged animals. After waiting in the backroom, I was told that my dog would be seen in the lobby. We waited but the floor with transferred fluids had not been disinfected and my dog was instinctively interested. And, sobbing could be heard in the lobby from the exam room. Instinctively, my dog began whining in response. It was very upsetting. The vet and the staff are overall nice. However, they take emergency appointments but are unprepared to do so and lack an adequate physical facility and sanitation protocol for emergencies. There is no emergency entrance, lobby, or instructions for clients to first come in themselves before bringing a sick or dying pet in the only lobby. There is little care, concern, or taking responsibility for clients with appointments who become part of the trauma. I have much sympathy for owners who lose pets but I also need services for my pet. But later I was admonished by a staffer, Brie, "to wait until one day when I lose a pet." It appears that staff training in kind customer relations is also needed.
