When I asked Kelly to address the scarring, she attempted to gaslight me and suggested I had an autoimmune condition, which I do not have and have never been diagnosed with. She then had the audacity to try to charge me for the CO2 laser treatment she recommended to fix the scars. I declined because I do not want to pay for further damage after everything I have already experienced. I will be reporting her to the Georgia Medical Board for what happened to me. The last time I came in, she would not respond to my requests for antibiotics or assistance, so I left a one-star review. Afterward, she contacted me in a hostile manner and accused me of threatening her. She told me I could come in to be seen if I removed the review. I did so because I believed she intended to address the damage caused by the procedure. Before I was seen, I was required to sign a waiver stating that I would not leave another negative review. Because there was clearly an infection, I reluctantly signed it. I was then placed on another two-month round of antibiotics. After finishing the antibiotics, I returned for a follow-up appointment, and that is when she attempted to charge me for the CO2 laser treatment. This entire experience has been a nightmare, and I strongly recommend going somewhere else.

I booked this appointment many weeks ago, and specifically told them that i was not happy with my former practice and needed to find a new Dermatologist. They told me to get records, which is why i showed up with my records, waited 30 minutes past my appointment time, only to be called up to the desk by the aforementioned mousey woman, who must be the worlds most miserable person because she showed zero empathy for the situation and gave no explanation other than "we just aren't accepting "transfer" patients at this time". Completely unapologetic for the time that they wasted, not only today, driving there, and waiting but the weeks wasted when i could have been seen somewhere else, possibly sooner. Meanwhile, the poor girl who checked me in and took my records to scan them in was mouthing "I'm sorry" several times. She was obviously unaware of this "policy" of theirs. There is obviously something else going on that she wouldn't tell me. In hindsight, if this is how they treat people, then it's probably for the best that I am not going to be a patient there.

I reluctantly made the appointment and asked if it would be easy to cancel since I am pregnant and looking to be seen sooner. She then offered me an appointment the following week with the PA. Why wasn't that an option to start?? Anyhow, I arrived and the office is clearly stuck in... who really knows what time period but certainly not anything after 1989. Everyone working behind the desk seemed like all the patients were a burden. It was very strange. They just weren't very pleasant in any of their interactions. I was taken back to the room, waited just a few minutes and the PA came in. I showed her a spot on my shoulder that I didn't like the look of and noted on my extensive new patient paperwork that my parents both have issues with skin cancer. She brushed it off, did the freezing thing pretty deep and here we are, over a month later looking like a cigarette was put out on my should and STILL surrounded by a gray color which is why I went in. So I'm almost 40... used to love the sun as a child... you're not going to do any other tests or use the light to look at it?! That's it. Appointment #1- Saw NP Lizzie and had a mole removed. Lizzie was incredibly friendly however I had anxiety about having the mole removed and asked to come back on a day when I could take an anxiety medication. She said, "I do this to little kids all the time" so I felt guilted to have the procedure done at that time despite having serious anxiety. An appointment was set with Dr. Howington to have a cyst removed. Appointment #2- The receptionist called me the day before to confirm my appointment with Lizzie. I told them my appointment was for a cyst removal with Dr. Howington. They canceled the appointment and told me I would have to reschedule because they couldn't fit me in. Foolishly I did. Appointment #3- I called about a month in advance to confirm my appointment was booked **with Dr. Howington for cyst removal.** The receptionist confirmed that my appointment for cyst removal was scheduled with Dr. Howington at 10:30. I was originally booked for 11:00 which should have been a red flag but I assumed it was an error on my part (LOL). I clarified that I would be taking sedatives and they advised that I would have to have someone drive me. I took 2 days of PTO, took anxiety meds, and arranged a ride to & from the appointment as directed. I was very upset when I was called back into the room and Dr. Howington asked me when I'd like to schedule the procedure THAT I WAS THERE TO HAVE DONE. I told Dr. Howington that I was there to have the procedure and she told me she was booked that day. I broke down and began crying and she told me that she could fit me in but had 6 procedures that she had to perform first. The meds were already begin to wear off, and my ride did not have all day to wait for me. Dr. Howington told me she would refer me to a plastic surgeon which was fine with me because I wasn't about to schedule this procedure with their office yet again. She told me she would fill a prescription for tretinoin as I needed the dose increased and told me she would call the plastic surgeon at lunchtime. My insurance was billed for a consultation that I didn't need or schedule. When I got to the front desk I was still crying and asked what the issue was with inappropriately scheduling my appointment not once but twice. The girl at the desk said, "We've only seen you one other time." I clarified that this was because they canceled my previous appointment the day prior. She replied, "I can't tell you who scheduled the appointment." I didn't say anything but I can. It was you, girl. No apologies, no sympathy, no attempts to rectify the situation- just "You don't owe anything because your insurance covers consultations." I left sobbing. Two days after appointment- I picked up tretinoin from pharmacy and it was the wrong strength. Six days after appointment- Called the plastic surgeon and the office confirmed that they had not received a referral. Low Country Dermatology stated that they sent a referral. Seven days after the appointment- I again picked up tretinoin from the pharmacy and it was the wrong formulation. Going through the anxiety and anticipation of this procedure not once but twice and having absolutely nothing done was horrible. The cyst hurts and I waited months for both appointments because they couldn't fit me in sooner. I have lost 24 hours of PTO, $14 in copays for incorrect prescriptions, and over $300 in unnecessary insurance claims... and I still don't even have a single prescription or referral to show for it. At this point it's obvious that my health is an absolute joke to Low Country Dermatology and that they don't care about me as a patient. This level of "care" demonstrates gross professional incompetence occurring throughout the practice. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a sixth time? No thanks.

Until recently, my experiences have been consistently positive. I have always felt heard, respected, and well cared for. I've been dealing with a recurring cyst/boil on my upper left shoulder for about 10 years. In December 2024, I saw PA Beatriz Bidgood in the Savannah office while in significant pain. She provided excellent care, scheduled a follow-up, and later confirmed that the cyst sac had come out and that the area would heal from the inside out. However, toward the end of December 2025, I began experiencing malodorous drainage from the previously healed site. Even on days without drainage, there was still a concerning odor. I scheduled appointments with Carlie Daniels on January 6th and January 20th. During those visits, she acknowledged the odor and suggested the cyst sac might still be present, despite not feeling anything on examination. I shared that I had been told the sac had already been removed, but she recommended I see a plastic surgeon to get my shoulder cut opened. Following that recommendation, I underwent surgery on March 6th with Dr. Dascomb. The next day, he informed me that there was no cyst sac present and nothing was removed. Three weeks post-op, I began experiencing the same drainage and malodorous smell from the incision site. So I scheduled a post op follow up and was seen yesterday. At my follow-up visit with Carlie in the Pooler office, I left extremely disappointed. My husband and I were interrupted several times by Carlie while trying to explain ongoing concerns. I felt dismissed, discarded and disrespected. At one point, the concern about the odor (which I associate with possible infection) was mocked by Carlie doing air quotes with her fingers. She told us that she could not help me. I was advised to return to my primary care provider, despite my primary being the one who referred me to dermatology in the first place. This has been incredibly frustrating and disheartening. I now have a significant $2,000 medical bill at the plastic surgeon's office and have gone through a painful surgical recovery without resolution of the issue. I believe strongly in this practice based on my long history here, but this experience was not in line with the standard of care I have come to expect. While I will continue with Georgia Skin and Cancer Clinic, I will not schedule with Carlie Daniels again. I understand that she's young and extremely inexperienced in her field, but it blew my mind that she didn't even think to consider having me see Dr. Smith and/or one of her colleagues who may have more experience with cysts than she does. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as patients trust this clinic for thoughtful, thorough, and compassionate care.
