I am a 64 year old American woman and I have been taking guitar lessons with Jose for six years now. We started doing the lessons by zoom during COVID and we have stuck with zoom ever since by choice - less hassle and I can record the lesson material to practice from. I am awed that my hands can make such beautiful music now! I tried to be consistent - once a week with few cancellations. I originally just wanted to learn embellished folk music but at his gentle prodding I learned to read music and play some classical. Now it's mainly jazz and some Latin and world music. It has been like a miracle for me. He has made me so happy. As you can imagine I think everyone should study with Jose!!! Do yourself a favor and sign up. José put together a fabulous quartet to play Latin Jazz and some traditional Cuban songs at our 40th Anniversary party. The music was just superb and was loved by everyone attending. We so enjoyed it, we asked if they would play for an additional hour. The musicians were all very talented professionals and were extremely cohesive in their playing. Jose is a wonderful musician. We were recommended Jose by La Morra restaurant in Brookline for an important company dinner we were hosting at La Morra. We listened to his range of music on his website (which is very nicely put together), and loved both his classical guitar and jazz quartet range with accompanying musicians. Jose was a pleasure to work with, and delivered a beautiful background guitar solo set over the course of two hours for our dinner. He had a diverse repertoire, including classical Spanish guitar solos, and jazz covers. His presence was the perfect extra touch we were looking for to create a warm, classy ambience for our dinner. The guests were put at ease, and he was sensitive to the sound levels, to ensure he could both be heard by the whole room, without being intrusive so people could continue their conversations without needing to raise their voices over the music. His price was very reasonable, and his communication and responsiveness as we were leading up to the event were great. We will definitely hire him again if we have a similar need. read more

OMG! Jose played at a Holiday Birthday Event I hosted at City Table in Boston, MA on December 21, 2014 and he was magnificent!!! Everyone that attended our event is still giving us feedback about what an excellent musician he was and how his music set a wonderful mood for our event. Jose played at my wedding last month and was amazing. I can't tell you how happy I am that he found me, and was willing to play for us. He is incredibly talented, kind, and tolerant of my bridezillaness. We got married outside at the Arboretum and he had a battery to power his amp (as we had no power) and was fine with the minimalistic resources he had to work with. Our wedding was on July 10, 2016 in the Bradley Estate in Canton, MA and we hired Jose and his colleague to play a guitar and clarinet duo during our ceremony. After listening to some samples on Jose's website I knew he was a great professional. He was also easy to communicate with via email. My future husband and I didn't care about classical ceremony music choices and string quartets. We asked Jose to play some jazzy summer tunes before the ceremony and we picked Louis Armstrong, Beatles, and Pharrell William's songs for our ceremony. Jose and his colleague were on time and sounded beautiful. I got to hear them before the ceremony during the first look and their pre-ceremony music choices suited perfectly the atmosphere of the location and our requests. Music during the ceremony was great as well and I really appreciate that they were able to play Pharrell's "Happy" for our recessional (I think they had to learn it to accommodate our request).
