I'm certain that there are good employees here, but not on the day I went. The man I dealt with had an airpod in his ear and seemed bothered to assist me. Equally he could not measure a coat properly. I guess he went on break during my experience too and a different man took care of me. This man atleast knew how to take measurements for my coat. Also whomever does the alterations needs to be more careful with items because they come back incredibly wrinkled. I had to bring my new coat to the dry cleaner. In general though the staff seemed bothered with my inquiries. The store selection is nice. I'll be going to a different location next time. read more

I walked in theres a table piled up with tons of jackets and other clothing items. Ties were very sloppy and messy. there is a worker on their phone and looks extremely clueless. There were two other friendly workers very nice people. The manager was working with multiple people and looks lost and stressed. Wasn't a good look. read more

After being "shooed" away from Brooks Brothers because me body profile did not meet their standards, I went to Jos A Banks, "Liam" greeted me before the door even closed behind me asking me if he could help. He walked over to the shirts and found my exact size. The other place told me it did not exist. Found me a tie to match also. I total professional all the way. Wonderful experience. I had bought a tuxedo a few weeks ago and went to pick it up this past weekend. After 10 minutes of not being able to locate it, the saleswoman came out with just a jacket that was covered in dust, and walked away. After calling for her across the store, she came back and said she wasn't sure where the pants were. Finally, another salesperson came over and found the same size on the rack and switched it out. Let it be known I later found out these pants didn't even have cuffs and were cut from the factory. They also would not give me a garment back for my new suit even when it was raining at the time. Joey A Banks in Fairfield. Simply put, don't waste your time. This place will surely go the way of Bed, Bath and Beyond...meaning bankrupt. I say this based on product line and service. Stopped in Saturday morning to look for dress pants. There were multiple people milling around...I thought they were customers like me.. No! They were employees.. not one offered to assist me... it was like they were ignoring me on purpose! Will never go back. read more

Destiny is the most unpleasant and disorganized manager I have ever encountered. Mean to employees and makes for an uncomfortable shopping experience. She declined us a deal we had proof of and had to call national customer service to get it resolved. After that she declined to give us any service. Very unprofessional and rude. I chose Jos A. Bank for my wedding because I assumed it would make it easy and convenient to get myself and my groomsmen setup with a suit. Unfortunately, it was the polar opposite of that, and I had a horrid experience. For my suit alone, I was given false information as to what I was actually getting from my purchase. In addition, the finished product was wrinkled and stray threads were everywhere. As for the suit I picked for my groomsmen, the cloth I selected for the vest was apparently discontinued which was only discovered after my best man went into his local shop. I found out that the Fairfield employee I worked with added zero notes to the order, so I had to not only call but drive in to get this squared away. The level of incompetence I dealt with was baffling. All of my groomsmen contacted me due to the ambiguity of the order which is bizarre to me as I thought they would only need to provide the group number to get fully setup. This entire experience added an unnecessary layer of stress and anxiety to the wedding planning. I wouldn't recommend Jos A Bank to my worst enemy, and if you are reading this please consider another store. P.S. I wish zero stars was an option as it is far more applicable. read more

We went in to purchase suits for an upcoming wedding. The manager, Destiny, was incredibly rude. From the start, she was aggressive and negative in her manner. When we presented a group discount code that we had been given, she refused to honor it. When we called customer service and received the help we needed, we were told to return to the store. Destiny ignored us, refusing to help, even her employees. I would like to say that the 2 gentlemen (a new employee (who was very pleasant and had to figure out how to set up a group on his own because she refused to help him) and the night manager) were very helpful on our return. The other two female employees were also rude and unprofessional. The store was in disarray and had many empty shelves and clothes on the floor. This is certainly not the Jos Banks of yesteryear when the male employees were in suits and very professional. I miss that store. read more

Neither my girlfriend or I will ever go back to this store. I have been to this particular location numerous times and not once were the employees anything less than condescending. Usually my girlfriend and I would visit and find ourselves to be the ONLY customers in the store and the staff made it a point to either ignore us or make us feel like we didn't belong in the store. I understand that as I am 27 and wearing a t-shirt under my jacket I may not appear to be their target clientele but it is never, at any point, acceptable to make assumptions about a customer based on their appearance, and their consistently disrespectful attitude has cost them thousands of dollars of my business, especially when I realized I could drive 5 minutes away to Fairfield Clothiers. read more

I go in there from time to time. The staff changes but I always have a consistently good experience. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Yesterday when I was there there was a lot of laughing going on between the employees. It was very nice! Laughing at work! What a concept! The clothes change over time so it makes sense to go in there every now and then. The sales can bring in significantly reduced prices if you catch them on time. I've been to three JoS A Banks looking to rent a tuxedo for my wedding, and have had a bad experience at all of them. The overall theme seems to be that the Corporate office is doing a horrendous job training their employees. This specific store was the third I visited (after Darien and Westport, both of which I've reviewed). Of the three, the guys here seemed to have worked at the store for a while, and at the very least knew how the company worked. They were able to tell me how they generally do things, exactly what the fees I could expect were, etc etc. They were also very attentive (granted the store was empty, but so was the one in Westport where I had terrible service) However, they still didn't know basic facts about tuxedos that one can easily find on the internet. When I go to store in person, I expect the sales people to have some expertise on what they're trying to sell, otherwise there's next to no reason to visit a store over simply buying things online. Indeed, the salespeople here pretty much directed me to just use the website, saying there wasn't much of a reason for me to come into the store. At some point during my visit, I mentioned a Men's Warehouse horror story I heard where someone got the wrong size tux a couple days before his wedding, and was told he would have to drive to a store in another state if he wanted the correct size. After telling this story, the salespeople mentioned that if that happened there, corporate would tell them to drive themselves to pick it up. That was comforting to hear, up until one salesman asked the other: "Would you go? There's no way I'd do it" "No way! I'd just find a suit here that seems to match and send the guy on his way" 3 stores, three bad experiences. This is a terrible, terrible chain. read more

Insanely bad service. I bought two suits and a blazer here and got them tailored. Not a single thing was done correctly. It cost me multiple trips back to the store, each time to find that they had screwed something else up and I would have to come back again a week later when they fixed it. The suits are stupid cheap, but you pay for it with the wasted time and aggravation of dealing with the absurdly incompetent staff. I can't say enough bad things about this place. I will never be shopping here again. I went there to order a sports coat on sale. Not only did i have to pay in full before seeing it in person or trying it on, but it was supposed to be in the store 3-5 business days later and i ended up having to call two weeks later only to find out they had to send my jacket back because it was the wrong size. Then after another week of waiting i called again and now the jacket was no longer available. I said fine then i'd like to pick up my refund for my cash i had basically loaned them for 3 weeks. The answer that was given to me was the most asinine response i've ever heard in my life; "I don't think we can do that because we don't keep enough cash in the drawer for that"... NO SHIT! But as a multi-million dollar corporate mens clothing store you can make a withdrawal for $160.00 from the bank... They ended up sending me a check in the mail... Never again. read more
