I have horrible disks (thanks, Dad!) and have had severe back problems since I was 22. I had a herniated disk and lumbar laminectomy by another doctor at age 22 and was happy with the outcome, but knew this wasn't the end of my problems. That doctor retired and I had problems once again with the same herniated disk at age 28. Enter Dr. Wood. I had another surgery at 28 and then a spinal fusion at 33, both by Dr. Wood. Both surgeries were very successful. You may wonder why I would need repeat surgeries and if you saw my spine, you'd understand. Both surgeries were done very well. Both times, Dr. Wood had wonderful bedside manner and was very receptive to me. Before the most recent surgery, I was scheduled for surgery but it was Christmas and the surgery was delayed because of the holiday. Something moved in my spine on Christmas Eve and I was a 100+ on the pain scale. I couldn't move. Dr. Wood stopped what he was doing on Christmas Eve and got me some serious pain killers. These were the kind that you had to have the physical prescription for and could not be called in. So, my husband had to meet him on Christmas eve to get the paper prescription to get it filled. He cares. I have seen him various times over the years because my L4-L5 disk doesn't look great (my fusion was L5-S1). He always takes his time and moves through the most conservative steps first. He always takes time to ask questions and doesn't rush me. If you are looking for a highly skilled spine orthopedist, then Dr. Wood is the one.

Outpatient surgeries are done both at St. Luke's and at an outpatient surgical center near the Galleria. Dr. Labbé is very nice, easygoing and personable, and so far, the knee seems to be doing well (only 3 months out). His staff is very professional - Marla was super nice and patient when I was deciding where to have the surgery done, as I wanted to double check everything with my insurer to make sure everything would be in-network.

Upon entering the facility, we found a relaxing environment with only a few other people waiting. There were plenty of staff on hand who were friendly and helpful. After filling out the required paperwork, we were taken right in. Doctor Line and a Physician assistant were in within 5 minutes. Dr. Line was friendly and upbeat. He suggested a cortisone shot, but we told him that my dad was also being treated for cancer and would need approval from his cancer Dr. What Dr. Line did next, I've never seen before. He asked who my dad's cancer Dr. was, he then texted her and got approval on the spot to administer the cortisone. Truly above and beyond! Thank you to the whole team. The whole experience was stellar!

I had an appointment with Dr. Rick Seabolt and his nurse, Jamie (front desk told me that was her name) for hip stiffness. The front desk ladies were very nice when I checked in for my appointment. When Jamie came and got me to take me back she immediately said we'll take x-rays of my hips, and I was confused as to why we would jump to x-rays when I hadn't talked to her or the clinician as to why I was there. She said that was how they normally did things, and I continued asking questions because I was simply confused at what the cost would be and why x-rays were indicated. She was off-put by my questions, said I could talk to the doctor first, and put me in an exam room and left the door open. She walks off to a desk nearby next to a 2nd woman and proceeds to mock me in a cruel tone with rude gestures by saying "I refuse to take x-rays without speaking to the doctor first". I was so shocked in seeing them continue to talk horribly about me, they then both turn to look at me, see that I just saw that whole interaction, and the 2nd woman approaches immediately justifying why they do x-rays first. I said ok I was just confused and concerned with what the extra cost would be for them, and this woman became increasingly more rude and aggressive in how she was talking to me and started to talk over me (sadly, I did not get her name to mention in this review). At the end of the conversation I said ok I'll take the x-rays now before seeing the doctor, feeling completely blindsided by this horrible interaction, then Jamie came back into the room to take my history. I was so incredibly dumbfounded that this just happened and I told her I do not appreciate the aggressiveness and rudeness that just occurred. She brushed it off and left me to wait for the doctor. Dr. Seabolt was very nice and we had a brief conversation why I was there and what value x-rays would do for my visit. I mentioned to him I was confused about taking x-rays first, but did not tell him the rude interaction that just occurred. After the x-rays he gave me suggestions for 2 stretches for my hips and then I left. Overall, I will not be going back to this office. Horrible, horrible experience.
