Miami heat on July can make you cry…read more..
And I was literally in tears because the AC of my car broke. The sole idea of taking it to the dealer gave me stomach ache, so I decided to do a Yelp search, and Voila! I was in the route to climate recovery.
I ended at JR Discount Tires and Service thanks to a very honest recommendation from another mechanic in the area (see my review on Triana & Sons). First thing I noticed, the garage was full with cars like mine. Good sign.
Carlos, the owner, a friendly man was in his tiny office in the back of the garage. I stated my dilemma and immediately he told me what the problem was without checking my car. To be honest, I didn't like that. (Imagine a doctor telling you, you have cancer without touching you). According to him the AC resistant and the micro filter needed to be replaced.
He gave me an estimate. For some inexplicable reason (maybe heat exhaustion), I trusted him (I usually don't trust mechanics in Miami; they happily and without hesitation defraud women). He sent his son to buy the parts at the dealer, and my car was freezing cold in 4 hours. Keep in mind I showed up out of the blues and he accommodated my car to be fix on a busy Saturday. I really appreciated that. Also, he showed me the old parts he replaced. I liked that too.
The repair cost was very reasonable (less than $300 for parts and labor), in comparison with the bills I used to get from the dealer. Always up to $500 and more.
If you ask me, I will continue taking my car there. I was very pleased.
Attention BMW owners: Carlos worked in BMW for more than 20 years, so take your Beamer there without hesitation. He had very reasonable prices, and knows BMWs inside out.
