Wow, I think I have found my brick and morter tobacconist! I do have to preface my review by saying that I enjoy pipes and I am not a huge cigar smoker, so I am looking at Jon's through that lense. I checked out Jon's this past Thursday on the way home from work. I have to be honest, I really have no idea why it has taken me so long to check out Jon's, probably since most of my pipe purchases are made online via pipesandcigars.com, I am sure that is a factor. Anyways, I digress. Jon's has a really nice selection for pipers. There is a back room devoted to the piper as there are a nice selection of pipes from Peterson, Vauen, etc. They also have a nice selection of house tobacco blends as well from Englishes, Virginias and aromatics. I was very impressed with the selection of tinned pipe tobaccos. This is an area that most of the local tobacconists fall short. Jon's carried a nice selection from Dunhill, Dan Tobacco and McClelland among others at pretty good prices (compared to online). It was nice to be able to pickup some Dunhill Nightcap and McClelland Frog Morton without having to wait for shipping. I definitely recommend Jon's for those who enjoy a pipe now and again. They certainly do have a pretty decent amout of cigars as well but I really could not comment too much on those as I am not too familiar there. read more

Jon's Pipe Shop in Clayton carries a wide variety of many cigar brands. The store itself is small and a bit cluttered because of all the product. However, despite the cramped space, whoever is working behind the counter is more than helpful to help. I frequent a cigar shop closer to my house normally, however head to Jon's whenever I want to pick up something that I can't get elsewhere. Jon's seems to carry brands such as Tatuaje, Davidoff, and Litto Gomez, that other shops typically do not. Their prices are fair and there are a few chairs spread throughout the shop that one is more than welcome to sit in and enjoy a smoke. read more

I went in there with totally the wrong info from my local friend on what cigar to buy there....they were very patient in translating his advice, results were non-premium not in stock. I ended up getting 2 premium Arturo Fuento OpusX and one Honking Huge Davidoff private label (joke birthday present for my older brother) Prices are average, but very helpful....great service is priceless read more

This was my personal experience only. Pros: -Good selection of pipes and in a good ranges of prices -Good selection of pipe tobacco -Prices are decent -Chairs to sit down in and enjoy a smoke Cons: -Not all style of pipes, didn't have any pokers or calabash styles. -Selected a pipe to buy, and couldn't walk it to the counter to buy it, salesperson asked for it back. Just weird I guess. -Salesperson didn't know much about pipes, but was at least honest and admitted that she wasn't. -Tobacco tins didn't have prices on them, but I guess I could've asked. -Didn't have any of the $3.99 Czech 3 in 1 pipe tools - kinda weird **My only issue was how I was treated by the salesperson, just constantly following me around, wouldn't let me look at more than one pipe at a time, and just watching my every move. I'm a white guy in my 30's wearing normal clothes looking at a $50 pipe to buy. I bought a $70 pipe, tin of pipe tobacco, bag of pipe cleaners, and they still charged me for a cheap little tamper that looked like an aluminum nail with the point flattened. AKA Jon's Pipe Shop. Good selection and the only place in the area I have found wh ere you can get Davidoff cigars if that happens to be a label you like. Also have some sharp guys (and characters!) working there. Prices are pretty standard, although their "buy four and get the fifth free" policy can provide some savings. You can smoke what you buy in the store, although they don't have a smoking area per se, so you will have to just stand around. Parking is at meters, and can be challenging during the work week. I went looking for a pipe for my husband, the woman that helped me didn't have much knowledge. The prices were High and when I said "I guess if my husband doesn't like it I can return it?" she said Yes. That's not true, the receipt states NO Refunds, and you don't know that until you buy!
