I originally…read moreheard of Weise Pharmacy while having a conversation about colloidal silver with some friends at church. They said I could find it here and it has been around for almost 50 years! And what a fantastic hidden gem located right behind the Publix shopping center on Roosevelt! I woke up this morning on a mission to get some fresh pressed carrot juice for my boy and possibly a sandwich for me. I had read about the 14 Carrot Gold Juice Bar located inside Weise Natural Food Shoppe on their website so wanting to have an excellent Saturday morning adventure, I drove over to check it all out. Holy Wow! Who knew this place existed? Well, apparently a ton of people because when I arrived, the parking lot was full of cars and people were coming in and out up until closing. I was greeted by a super nice lady named Sue and she asked me if I needed any help. I told her I wanted to get a fresh carrot juice so she pointed the way to the back. When I got there, an equally sweet lady named Lisa told me that I could have my carrot juice plain or with celery, garlic, parsley or ginger added or however way I wanted it. In addition, the juice bar offered organic fruit smoothies and healthy vegetarian sandwiches. I thought I had died and gone to HEAVEN! I opted for straight carrot juice and their curry "chicken" salad sandwich and then walked around the store to see all of the offerings. They stock a wide variety of herbs, supplements, vitamins, all natural products for the body, home and even your pets as well as everyday organic groceries and CHOCOLATE! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Weise-Pharmacy-and-Natural-Food-Shoppe/180411578676414 I was fortunate enough to meet and briefly chat with Gilbert Weise, Sr., the pharmacist and nutritionist, from which the pharmacy and natural food shop is named. He is a very interesting character and apparently comes from a lineage of healthcare practitioners in the area and continues the legacy. Not only does this man talk the talk, but he also walks the walk....if you speak with him, you will know what I mean (and feel guilty that you haven't already adopted his lifestyle yesterday). http://www.weiserx.com/retailer/store_templates/ret_about_us.asp?storeID=D5014D8206A24FA7A9B57A43F807BE7E Overall, my experience was exceptional! That had to be the most fun I've ever had in a pharmacy/health food store! Such an interesting and well run location with a great staff who really makes you feel like family. It's my new favorite place! Oh yea, by the way, the carrot juice was perfectly sweet and yummy and the vegetarian curry chicken sandwich was super flavorful and healthy. What a great way to start my day! I will definitely be back! :)

I've visited this meat market a few years ago, but wasn't to fond of the 'butcherery' smell. (Butcherery is definitely not a word or verb but, it's a better term of explaining the bloody smell from slaughtering.) During my visit, today, my sense of smell may have not been activated or someone may have done a better job at maintaining the market. Major cool points! Even though I was hoping for a much broader variation of fresh not frozen meats such as turkey and fish; I still found it quite easy to locate items and navigate through the petite market. And oh my gheesus! The adorable checkout counter was adorned with such an ambiance of natural light, I just couldn't resist capturing the moment which I received an email that this photo became their featured photo. FYI: There's one way in if you're turning into their lot from University.
