They also have shelves full of dry goods as well. We went with the polish plate and hot ham and cheese sandwich with root beer on tap. We sat outside on the patio and they brought the food out to us. She had to go back inside to get some silverware and then we still had to go in to find napkins. They were super friendly but seemed a little unorganized when bringing out the food. The food was pretty good. We both loved the sandwich and it was all the perfect size to share. I wish the kielbasa came with mustard to dip and would have preferred the pierogis to be a little crispier. Each order comes with a beef stick as well. We thought the sauce was a type of sour cream base but it was some type of horse radish sauce. We will definitely stop in again for their pasta salads and deli. The lunch was pretty good as well!

We made a family trip out to South East Market today. They have branded themselves as a locally…read moresourced fresh food market. They also have a pay it forward program to improve healthy food access to all. I came with my husband, 2 yo, and 3 mos old. It is a quaint little two aisle store. There were no pushcarts available just small hand baskets, so it was a little bit of a handful to carry baby and guide a toddler around. However, besides that, I loved the careful selection of everyday items that they had on display. I found it interesting that there's a mixture of higher end canned foods and frozen meats but then reasonably priced fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. My toddler grabbed a bruised apple in the free basket and I picked up some day old challah bread for French toast. My husband especially liked the farm list at the front of the store listing all the local farms that they sourced their food from, and how far they were away. The furthest was 23 miles away! Alice Waters would be proud (: Anyhow, love their mission and hope this place finds its niche for all it wants to stand for along with an inspiration for some yummy meals. Street parking is available and one of the closest side streets is on Kalamazoo and Hancock.

Pound for pound THE best barbecue in Grand Rapids. I've been coming to Two Scotts on and off for…read morethe better part of the past 11 years and this place's quality and consistency has held better than the S&P 500. The flavor is out of this world. Smoky, deep, savory, and the accompanying chorus of sauces keeps the meal bright and varied. I got the burnt ends and the pulled chicken and it was so. Damn. Good. If you even remotely like barbecue, this needs to be at the top of your list. My only mild complaint is that back in the day they had a platter where you could sample 3 meats for like $17 or $20, which was the holy grail of barbecue experience. Nowadays you need to buy 1/2 pound minimum of each meat which can make it tough to sample their all-star lineup of succulent meats. If this were to make a return, I'd be at Two Scott's weekly. Still, pretty good value for the insane quality of food and service that you're getting here. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Banging bbq in Grand Rapids! A super find thanks to the reviews on Yelp…read more After a week on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, I was hankering for something good. I needed to stop with my family before we headed to the airport. I spotted this one on the map when searching for highly rated restaurants, and thanks to their handy-dandy online ordering system. I knew that we could plot a course get there eat our food and be on our way. No time to make our flights later this afternoon. I don't think any of us knew how delicious this meal was gonna be, but we were all glad that this was the stuff we chose to make. The smoked chicken wings were immaculate and the brisket was perfection. We also of course had rib tips and a whole slew of sides, including the smoked mushrooms and coleslaw and Housemade, tater tots, mac & cheese, baked beans and probably a few others I'm forgetting. We couldn't pick a favorite literally everything. Was that good And the sauces? Yeah, those are banging and beyond creative too. That green sauce was straight fire, and that Alabama weight style also nice for cooling things off. But if all of them were fantastic, and it was fun to make a match and find your favorite combo as we demolished the entirety of the order. Which is funny because when we placed it, we were kind of thinking this sounds like a lot of food and we didn't want any leftovers, but there were no leftovers to account for not because we ordered and forced ourselves because it was that good and we needed every bite available. Make the trip!
