Let me preface my review by saying I have no idea how Mr. Cope is as a one-on-one counselor and I…read moredo not intend my review to dissuade anyone from trying counseling here. This is only a review of my experience. I presented to Mr. Cope for a first-time-ever couples counseling session. We went to Mr. Cope because my significant other sees him. Huge mistake. The only thing I can compare the session to would be having couples counseling with one of my significant other's friends. Actually, I think my s.o's friends would make more of an attempt to be unbiased. Mr. Cope made no effort to get to know me, my perspective, where I was coming from, who i am, etc. He reiterated the frustrations that my s.o. had spoken about privately with him and asserted them not as my s.o's interpretations of what was going on but as fact, and ultimately came off like he was pointing the finger. That was neither constructive nor helpful- we went to therapy because we are already quite good at finger pointing on our own. Furthermore, Mr. Cope, without getting to know my personality, feeling me out, or anything else, made a number of unprofessional "jokes" that made me uncomfortable. I was surprised that someone who works in this profession would not realize the importance of connecting with a person and learning their personality before jumping into jokes that ride the line between acceptable and not. My s.o. and I followed his advice and took a full day to let us absorb what was said in session. We went on to have a lovely rest of the night but the next day, once everything was "absorbed", it was like a grenade was set off between my s.o. and I. We had to then wade through what were words put in our mouths during session versus what was actually the truth between us. We are in worse shape for having tried counseling here. This is not to say that Mr. Cope was completely wrong. Some of his advice was sound and on point. My point is that a lot of it wasn't helpful, wasn't correct about us as individuals or what we are like in our relationship, and much of the session was a lecture. It seemed to me that Mr. Cope was unable to be an unbiased participant in the session because he already knew a lot about my s.o's perspective. I will not be returning.

A second marriage for both us, we engaged Laura, prior to our wedding not due to any acute crisis but to become more mindful of our own histories and how these might impact the relationship. One of the many insights gained working with Laura over the years is that each partner is responsible for 100% of their 50% of the relationship (LOVE that!!). We were also familiar with the book, Getting the Love Your Want by Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt, best known for co-creating Imago Relationship Therapy. Laura is a certified practitioner of Imago, blending it with her unique style of facilitation. Imago offers many relationship building blocks, such as mirroring and sharing appreciations that fundamentally changed how we communicate. In many ways, Laura is like a relationship coach, holding us accountable for our respective 100% that we each bring to the relationship. Our marriage continues to thrive and benefit from our time and investment with Laura!

I learned about the holographic universe, the holograms and macrocosms in the microcosm, I learned about our energy bodies, the tree of life, the chakra system, and the Roth repatterning method. I also took a workshop with him on seeing auras. Now he offers weekly teleclasses, which I'm taking now since I moved away from New York. This is all to say that I have extensive experience with what Peter Roth teaches through the Heart River Healing school and it is universally excellent. He is incredibly well-connected in the esoteric world and consistently interviews some of the most interesting people. I just adore Peter's healing energy. He not just a teacher but a energy healer par excellence. Every time I take a class with him, online or in person I feel renewed and hopeful about life. I have referred many people to Peter, including my mother and my boyfriend. They have both loved the work he has done with them. One of the best things that Peter ever did for me was teach me about the Human Design system. I have since gone on to learn much more about this system, and the Gene Keys that come out of this system, and I love it. It has been such an incredible tool to know myself, know others, and go deeper into my own healing work. I can't recommend Peter Roth's classes and one-on-one sessions enough. Go see Peter Roth. I very rarely write reviews but wanted to ensure everyone considering Deborah has the opportunity…read moreto have a session with her. I did a Tao Hands/Distance Reiki session. I've done Reiki a couple of times before but never felt a huge difference. With Deborah, it was different. During the session, Deborah asked questions to understand my needs and concerns. She was positive and warm, and made me feel very comfortable. She also introduced me to flower essences, which I hadn't heard of prior. During the healing session, I yawned a lot (like I was releasing a lot of repressed energy!). Afterwards, I felt relaxed - it was clear that the session truly worked although it wasn't done in person, which I was a little nervous about at first. Deborah also quickly followed up after our session with additional information and promptly responded to a follow up question I had about flower essences. It's been four days since our session, and my chronic neck pain that I've had for 10 weeks is significantly better - in a way my chiropractor couldn't help. I'm really glad I made the investment in my healing session with Deborah and now understand why she has so many positive, genuine reviews (she's not compensating us or giving us discounts to write these, like some businesses do!). I'm very grateful to have found Deborah - she is truly gifted.
