Dr.Vanags is exceptional in his field of medicine. I am thankful to have him as my neurologist.

The week before the appointment he was called and his appointment changed and rescheduled for the following week...then the morning of the appointment after changing our plans rescheduling other commitments the office calls and let's us know the doctor has decided not to see him that he looked over his notes and decided there was nothing he could do for him. He has never gotten a diagnosis from a neurologist and his primary care physician had suggested seeing you. If you (Dr.Poston) didn't want to help them why waste three months of our time waiting on this appointment. Three months he has suffered with nerve pain and been awaiting an appointment to try and get answers. He could have seen someone else by then. You (Dr. Poston) delayed his care and made him suffer waiting and seeking another professional for nothing. He had new symptoms by the time his appointment had come around and you would have know that if you hadn't canceled the appointment he waited 3 months for on the morning of the appointment! Doctors are suppose to do no harm. You have done harm. If there was nothing you could do then at least for his mental health (which is strained from the constant nerve pain) it would have been courteous of you to at least hear him out and tell him so in person at the appointment he waited 3 months for (it wouldn't have wasted his money insurance had approved of the visit...and you obviously don't care about wasting his time) or to have told him 3 months ago. I sincerely hope your reasoning for not seeing him that day was genuine, and not because you didn't want to come back from lunch. So to all who have read this take your appointment time with a grain of salt. Dr.Poston does not seem to care about his patients time.

When he moved to Georgia, I lost access to a doctor who understood a sleep medication that had changed my life and treatment for my thyroid issues that were not just based on the TSH lab test. He was my hero. Since he left, I've been seen by 7 other neurologists or endocrinologists. it was hell until I found Becker at UCSF, but after 3 years he retired at 80 and aside from these 2 doctors, my life has been an endless insult by the medical community who are stressed and obsessed with following "community standards " so they avoid being sued. I don't know what's happened to Dr Rosenfeld, but if I could see him now (I live near Santa Barbara) I would pay almost any amount and put up with a long list of insults to have his medical treatment. He was not afraid. He understood thyroid problems. He was knowledgeable about several areas of medicine, including psychiatry. He was respected by other doctors at Sansum and many of the patients he left behind have lived a life of drudgery, pain, and the memory of living a better quality of life. I miss him.

Let me start by saying this review is based on the administrative staff not the Doctor. The…read moreadministrative staff in booking an appointment and dealing with general information is nothing short of horrendous. Countless unreturned phone call's and lost or misplaced medical documents combined with a general lack of candor, appear to be the norm with the staff at this office. Again, It's a staffing issue not the doctor, who I never saw, and I simple gave up an went somewhere else for care.

Both times I've interacted with him he's been short and condescending with me as if I'm too inferior for him to bother with. He tried to blame my current health issues (brain tumor, osteoporosis, psoriatic arthritis, cervical stenosis with radiculopathy &rheumatoid factor) on a psychiatric issue. When asked what I currently do for work and I responded I was on disability for my chronic conditions, he looked at me like I was crazy like I had no business being on it. He about laughed in my face and quickly turned on his heels, said he couldn't help me and was out the door! I felt totally gaslit both times by him! He's curt and smug. I chalked it up to a personality clash or maybe I don't have the right insurance for him. At any rate, the entire experience was too demoralizing for me! I need a little more compassion and empathy than I've been shown. He said I was a candidate for back surgery and to call him when my legs start to hurt. I'm trying to be proactive about my issues, not wait till I'm too disabled to even drive myself to his office for help. I had just gotten out of the ER with a broken wrist, broken toe, and a contusion on my face and shoulder from a hypoglycemic syncope blackout and he's telling me to call him when things get worse. He says he's conservative about surgery and people should wait till they absolutely need it like when their 85 years old. I disagree! His ofc seems disorganized. They call me 30 min before a scheduled visit and ask me to go get x-rays first like I have nothing better do. I can't stand the way I've been treated by all of them like I'm a worthless piece of shit for existing! It's hard to find good care these days! We have to be our own advocates when it comes to our health. I cried after my experience with him.
