I wandered in in looking to get my beloved shoes re-heeled. He said it would take about 20 minutes and would cost £9. I suppose that is relatively steep for some people, but considering that I love these shoes and I can finally wear them again AND the real TLC he gives the shoes - polish, shine the whole shebang, I was more than happy to pay! He did a stellar job, is incredibly friendly and chatty and has a good sense of humour. He showed me pictures of some of the repairs he's done, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the state of the shoes that some people bring in. Anything from Doc Martins to Jimmy Choo's (they were ghastly, I was shocked!), he managed to make everything look brand new, no matter how little leather was left. This would probably also be the place to come to get keys cut, glass engravings, belt notch making. I have yet to require any of these services, however, I know where I'll be going when the time comes. I am super happy with the service in this place, and can only recommend Jim and craftsmanship! Pryce's hits that spot with my family. They sell some 2nd hand stuff which is always great value and high end quality. Their window is small and old fashioned, as is the shop itself inside. I had my Grandmother's engagement ring which she left me in her Will changed to my taste, from gold to white gold and set on a wider band as a 21st birthday present. It is gorgeous and something that I'll treasure forever, made with care and consideration by the small family team of jewellers here. Also sells baby and wedding gifts, and does clock and watch repairs.

Although, do keep in mind that Saturdays are their busiest days and hence, some services can take longer depending on local demand. The staff are very friendly, helpful and honest about how well the repair can be expected to be. For instance, there are no false promises if you have left something for too long to repair. He suggested sending it off to Casio to see if they could work the magic required, and warned me that the parts could be expensive if they were able to fix it. I got a call a little over a week later with an update - they couldn't fix it. Bummer! I popped in to collect it, and even though Robert had spent a lot of time helping me, and trying to fix my watch, he insisted there was no charge. Brilliant communication together with warm and friendly customer service meant that even though I was pretty upset my watch couldn't be fixed, I left with a huge smile on my face. I couldn't recommend Stevenson's any more.

Not that it looks rough, or that the diamonds in the shop window are exactly hidden - this place blings from blocks away! There is a wide range of jewellery on display in the windows, from potential engagement rings to more simple and elegant designer necklaces. There are a lot of older fashioned styles available in Stevenson's if that's what you're looking for. Bear in mind, however, that they also stock an impressive range of more contemporary designs, including Pilgrim and Rennie Mack (my favourites). They also sell Hot Diamonds which make lovely gifts on special occasions such as 18th and 21st birthdays. Hot Diamonds are very subtle in deisgn, and elegant without being stuffy. On the contrary, they are very modern and unique in design, much akin to fellow big names such as Links of London. So I guess what I'm trying to say is there is something for everyone in here, and with Stevenson's stocking many different styles of jewellery, you won't be hard pushed to find something you like in here.

I popped in today to get some keys cut at short notice…read more The store was quiet but the staff were courteous and had a new set of keys cut so quickly. They mentioned about a guarantee, but I was in such a rush I didn't pay much attention, but they did advise to try the new keys as soon as possible in case there were any issues ( it's nice that they realise that sometimes there are issues and they want to help). The new keys are perfect and we'll be back. It thought it was cool that the new keys also had a phone number for their Locksmith service ( just incase ). They also do shoe repairs, replacement watch batteries ( including fitting) and I noticed the sign outside mentioned they also cut car keys?!

It's bright blue shop front makes it easy to spot and really makes an impact on this main road. The shop sign itself states very clearly what this business provides - though, does not so clearly make the business name known. For this reason, I've ingeniously named/nicknamed it Watch Repairs Etc. This is due to watch repairs being the first service listed on the sign, hence (possibly) their primary service and/or area of business. However, they also dabble in key cutting, shoe repairs and engraving. So this is an excellent all rounder of a shop. They are also, to my knowledge, not listed in any other websites or directory papers etc. Thus, they remain something of a little known secret. This is perhaps why they are usually fairly quiet (hence service is quick, efficient and to a high standard), reasonably priced and take the extra time to provide quality customer service. All of which are pleasant surprises and something of a dying bred in the retail world.
