She took all of the guesswork out of the remodel by showing me specific designs of what it could look like. I was really nervous at the beginning because I have no design skills whatsoever and thought I would be overwhelmed with choices but she made it so easy! She really listened to what I said my basic style is and, knowing my fear of too many options, was able to show me a few specific examples for the end result. From there I was able to mix and match from those the designs to create my perfect backyard! Would definitely use her services again!!! 10/10!

There were so many moving parts to our project. Kelly helped with almost every facet of the project. Does Kelly Sutton have great taste? Probably. Sutton House looks really cool and that's her style. But if you check out our house, it's not to Kelly's style. It's ours. Sutton helps you find your own style. In my case, Sutton politely and smartly ignored most of my style (imagine dogs playing poker) and helped Shari V find hers. They are a good combination. I thought interior designers helped with paint colors, throw pillows and things like that. KS completely changed my perspective. For example, house plans. Sutton was intimately involved with the design of the house. She had tons of input on space, flow, lighting, plumbing. And house design is just one example. Sutton was helped us think about things that only industry insiders know to worry about. We are at the tail end of long project. I cannot imagine going through this project without the services of Sutton House. I am certain we will use Sutton House again.

My husband and I contracted Heidi Mortensen to help us out of a jam with painting the interior of…read moreour new home. She came as a referral from the store where we bought our paint, after we had become stuck with our paint test patches. Since we were going for bold, bright, strong colors we didn't want to screw it up. And there was a GREAT potential to screw it up. Enter Heidi. She was amazing. I went around for weeks later telling everyone who cared (or pretended to) that the hour and a half she spent with us was the best $$ we spent in the whole project. No lie. Her normal service is geared to take people through the entire process of selecting color for their home, but my husband and I were on a budget and we already KNEW about what we wanted color-wise but we couldn't nail the right shades. She came in and just charged her hourly rate to help us through the jam, narrowing our issues by listening to us both describe what we each had in mind for the color gold for example, and working from there. She was so amazing. We did the 3 rooms we were stuck on, along with the rest of the house, in an hour and a half flat. All of the colors looked warm and inviting (our goal) and the different colors throughout the house flowed well together. She got us unstuck for an extremely reasonable price. And anyone who has painted an entire room the wrong shade knows what a nightmare it is time and money-wise, to fix. What was also great about Heidi was her willingness to be flexible with us, and not insisting on sticking to her normal routine (which involves several visits and is I am sure, a more thorough and complete service). She came in and did a scaled down visit at our request which was what enabled us to hire her. She also does interior design but I am specifically here to rave about her paint consulting. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing help with painting their home.

It's evident that Claire is an individual who needed a daytime hobby, so she started a an "interior…read moreconsulting" business. She treats her business as such and plays with with your time and money. Claire is not a licensed interior designer, lacks experience, and is incompetent. Her portfolio pictures are mainly just pictures of her own home. I hired her for a rental project, so that I could relieve myself of any stress. However, my experience with her was far from stress-free. My consultation was in August. After delays due to Hurricane Ida, she was finally ready to get started in October. Claire does not have a team of people she consistently works with like other designers. She constantly refers to "her contractor" -- the only one she works with -- who is also currently working on her home and prioritizing her personal projects. Claire was certain that although her contractor became extremely busy after Ida, she would be finished with the project in December. By the end of December, the only things completed were the kitchen and bathroom renovations, among the million other things that needed to be done. It was evidently not going to be completed by the deadline she gave. However, I remained patient. For reference, I have friends who started their projects after mine, and have had tenants for months now. The kitchen turned out great, but due to lack of communication, I am not too fond of the floor in one of the bathrooms. On multiple occasions, I had to find my own sub-contractors for Claire to work with, so that we could continue. One turned out to be an absolute disaster under Claire's direction. I ended up having to go to the paint store myself to get to the root of one of the issues, although that was what Claire was hired for. Other times, she would recommend that I find a Home Depot Pro. I needed to furnish my entire home. As we began ordering furniture, she sent approximately one piece for me to review every 2-3 weeks. It was never a complete room, so that I could envision it all together. A few of the pieces were not measured correctly for the space and needed to be returned. That is one of the many mistakes she made. In March, Claire had to be reminded of tasks that still remained. At the beginning of April (8 months after my consultation), I started to question the delays. Claire did not like being held accountable -- after all, this her business is just an extracurricular activity to her, so she ended up quitting. UPDATE: After terminating our business relationship, Claire then used my card to purchase shoes online at Walmart.
