Denver Academy is not the solution you are looking for…read more There were many situations that happened at my expense including a teacher announcing in front of the whole class that I had to be in therapy, in order to embarrass me. Another time my parents tried to write an email to the school about how it was hard for me to do a "working lunch" (where you sit in the classroom instead of going outside to complete work) because of issues with eating in the past. They completely disregarded my parents' worries until they escalated it to the principal who finally and indignantly accepted that I could sit in another room to do my work. At that point I hadn't been able to eat lunch at school for around a month. At one point during the year I finally felt comfortable eating in class and the teacher made a comment along the lines of "well looks like your parents were just being dramatic because now you can eat just fine, huh?" The same teacher later allegedly "mistook" my name in an email for someone else, (whose name sounds nor looks like mine in any way so he took me out of class during my final exam, yelled at me in his office until I was crying, threatened to expel me and told me I couldn't get into any college if I had that on my record. When my parents emailed him about it, he completely denied it and lied about it. This was what ultimately led me to have to leave the school halfway through the year and now I am completing the rest of my sophomore year online in a different program. This school takes advantage of desperate parents who want what is best for their child who has most likely been struggling in school. Their signature quote "We teach students the way they learn best" should be changed to "We teach students the way that is easiest for us". Where parents and kids think they have finally found a safe space for their kid to grow and thrive it is actually the opposite. The sheer amount of bullying from teachers and students alike that I witnessed at my time there is more than any public school I have ever been to in my life. Please do not send your child here.

We will definitely miss this group of wonderful people next year.

Please don't bring your little ones here... my husband and I enrolled our son Archie when he was 3…read more He went in very excited to learn and socialize. Things quickly went sour when the main teacher started disappearing for months at a time, placing the kids in the care of assistants, art teachers, music teachers, basically anyone with a pulse. This started to wear our child out and dropping him off became a triggering experience. He was never a clingy baby so it was odd to me how distraught he was at drop off. Rather than working with you on behavior issues, they are quick to throw incident reports your way basically blaming your kid for everything. The final straw came when my child was left unattended long enough to destroy the classroom, the staff had the audacity to tell me my 3 year old child needed to take books home to glue pages back together when he was the one left unattended and could have been seriously hurt. The music teacher discussed death of a loved one with my child without permission, they didn't take accountability for either incident which really didn't sit right with me. Not to mention they take more days off than public schools but you're paying an insane amount of money just because it's "Montessori" This place is a glorified daycare, and a crappy traumatizing one at that.

Monarch Montessori provides daycare and K-5 in the same building. We drop off both kids in one…read morestop. The First Step teachers develop bonds with the young kids and follow them thru elementary school. This creates a real family feel throughout the building. The staff, teachers, and administrators are great. Everyone knows my kids by name and really cares. The montessori method is also great at fostering creativity. I recommend the school. The test scores are lower due the Montessori method not always meshing with standardized tests and some demographic biases that affect the scoring. My children have grown in this atmosphere and show academic and developmental progress as well. One other thing, the dual language program is a gem. We are an English speaking family. My 5 year old is immersed in Spanish and can understand and is starting to speak a second language in just over a year!

When compared to other daycares, this place is not a part of any fancy chain and doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other places, but my daughter was definitely well cared for and loved. One thing to note is that the daycare does adhere to DPS closures and also has more in service and vacation days than most daycares (1 week in the summer, 2 weeks in the winter, scattered in service days), so you may need to plan your vacations off around it.

Every Wednesday our…read moregroup of adult volunteers spends about 40-45 minutes with a group of six graders, reading books and spending time together. The school is a beautiful building! Very tall ceilings, well maintained. The main thoroughfare is pretty impressive as you walk into the space. When there's kids walking around in between classes, the echo is impressive. Since I'm only there for a volunteer program, I can't speak to the teachers or the classes. However, my student that I read with is extremely bright and her teacher encourage her to reach as much as possible, for school and for fun. Really cool building and really cool kids.
