Jolster is one of the most amazing places I have been to. I have had the fortunate experience to visit in both the winter and the summer and although its great for ski-ing in the winter I definetly recommend a Summer visit. Theres plenty to do in the summer,(plus it doesnt get dark till after midnight!) Jolster is full of culture including local folk music and art museums to visit.
The landscape and the surrounding scenery of Jolster is worth the trip in itself with majestic mountains and the sound of gushing water falls it really is something else. Theres also a beautiful lake called the Jølstravatn where you can go fishing.
If you fancy being a bit more active you must go rafting on the Jolstra river. It is known to be one of the wildest rivers in Norway, the guide speaks English so you dont have to worry about following instructions. I had never been before and it really was the most amazing experience. If you haven't tried rafting you really must do it here! Our guide was from NZ and he said the Jolstra was the best river he had been on so there you have it!
Also try glacier walking. The glaciers are within easy reach of Jolster so I recommend the trip.
In amongst all the activity do take the time to go for walks and just appreciate the beauty of Jolster and just enjoy! read more
