Awful experience, would give zero stars if I could. Ordered a standard wrist corsage ($55) and boutonniere ($45) and received tiny pieces. It was embarrassing, especially at those prices. I called and was told it was due to the labor and the supplies. They were each 2 spray roses with some baby breath tied with a ribbon - each was less than 2 inches long. BEWARE - New owners as of Dec 2022! Zero stars if I could. We have lived in Dobbs for 10 years and were great fans and supporters of Johnston's. The previous owners were amazing. For just under $100 you would get a beautiful, quality arrangement that would often last weeks. We spent a lot of money there, happy to support a local business and would send all of our friends there. Fast forward to Dec 2022 when a family friend went there and bought us a bunch of flowers for over $100 ($118, to be exact). One of the worst and amateurish bouquets I have ever seen with dying flowers after 4 days. Just look at the photos - the first one is the new Johnston's and the second is a beautiful bouquet from last year. Even if the pandemic doubled the price of purchasing flowers, I was still not given a $118 bouquet of flowers! Even worse, when I took the flowers to the new owner to complain, she was rude, arrogant and told me the bouquet was totally acceptable (when we had mix-ups with the previous owners, they would apologetically send us another bunch of flowers!). She did nothing to placate me, with no kind of store credit or improved bouquet. And when I explained about Google Reviews and all the business she might be losing from a dissatisfied customer, she dug in even more and was completely nonchalant. Like, the customer is always wrong! Unless you are prepared to drop a lot of money for something mediocre, I suggest you'll find something equally nice at Stop and Shop or another Rivertown florist. read more

I had the best experience with this flower shop. I had totally forgotten my anniversary and stopped off on my way home to pick up flowers that I had ordered blind over the phone with Bridget. Every time the result has been a stunning bouquet that used good flowers (not the cheap filler stuff) that looked very good for the money spent. The employee that takes my order pays close attention to what I ask for and is friendly and accommodating. The last bouquet I ordered was for a wake and the family was very impressed, commenting several times on how good the arrangement looked. A wedding I attended was decorated by Johnston's and the flowers were beautiful and tasteful, with a lot of creative touches that really added to the decor. They are flexible and responsive and accommodate same-day requests. Also, the flowers are very fresh and last for a long time. I bought some supermarket roses and they never really opened. When I ordered a dozen yellow roses for a showing of my home from Johnston's recently, the blooms opened little by little and got more and more beautiful. Extremely disappointing. I spoke to Carla and I ordered an arrangement, many days in advance, with a very specific color palette to include very soft, light pink, lilac and cream/white pastels flowers for a memorial service. This was not an order that had to be thrown together on a moment's notice. I received an arrangement of primarily yellow and dark burgundy flowers, a lot of green filler and a few purple roses. Upon receiving the arrangement, I immediately contacted Johnston's, who are located less than 1/2 mile from the funeral home, to please come and change the arrangement before the guests arrived. I was told someone was on there way to add some white flowers to the arrangement. No one ever arrived and the arrangement stayed as it was when it was delivered. No attempt, whatsoever, was made to rectify their error. Stay away from Johnston's. You will be disappointed and they won't work with you to make things right. read more

Johnston's Flowers did an incredible job for my June wedding. Heather went above & beyond in so many ways that I don't know where to begin. She met with me early on to help plan the look. She had lots of input to enhance my ideas & was flexible in catering to my preferences. As the wedding approached, Heather let me take a look at a sample centerpiece, which was gorgeous. She even placed candles around the vase to give the impression we would have at the venue. Although we were only a month away from the wedding, Heather agreed when I suggested we add a pop of coral peonies in addition to the others. This turned out to be a very rare & pricey color from overseas so we assumed it was impossible. On her own accord, Heather e-mailed a few days later to let us know that she had located coral peonies in the US & they would indeed be part of the arrangements. On the day of the wedding, the flowers were stunning - perfectly bright &fresh. The peonies blossomed throughout the day & looked amazing in all the pictures. People are still talking about my FLOWERS. I brought my bouquet (white peonies, ivory vendala roses & light pink spray roses) to be preserved & even the florist asked where these were made as they were the most fresh & gorgeous bridal bouquet she'd seen. Lastly, Heather was accommodating & professional the day of the wedding. She arrived at my parents' house to drop off the bouquets & left everything perfectly at the venue, including small arrangements for the bathroom & entryway table. There was a fire at the church, causing the road to be blocked & an inconvenience for most guests as they had to park far & walk (in some cases a mile) to make it. I didn't expect the flowers to arrive because of this but somehow Heather made her way to the church & arranged all of the flowers perfectly. She cannot be stopped! A huge thanks to Heather & Johnston's flowers for making a subtle part of a wedding a huge factor in the ambiance of mine. read more
