Tonight Doc got us reservations for a Speakeasy Mystery Crawl in Nashville. The COLD night air confirmed I better buy a black coat to match the new black dress since they have a dress code. Thankfully I found a bedazzled light weight black coat for $30, bling earrings and a ring to get into the mood for this evening's 7:30 pm event. This shop did not have that musty smell like Goodwill or Savers. We'd shop for music or Big Sky bears ages ago but not clothes. I think watching Twilight Zone in my school age years gave me the Willie's of wearing someone else's clothes. Hub's aunty even told them she had nightmares with her own mom's clothes when she passed. Hopefully the one sage bundle i saw in the shop will be cleansing enough with my purchases. Hubs stayed in the car with Grandpup and Doc decided to go next door and treated us to coffee. Thanks Doc for driving again today and the afternoon caffeine.

This place does not disappoint! There was a great selection of lots of different types of clothing, from formal dresses to workout sets to outerwear. There were brands I knew, like Eloquii, Ava & Viv, and Torrid, plus some I didn't know yet. My greatest surprise and delight happened in the fitting rooms, which are both equipped with fans!! This is clearly a space imagined by fat people for fat people (if you know, you know). I can't wait to see how the collection of clothing evolves once they start buying from the community next week. Even though the location is a little bit out of the way for me, this will definitely be a regular stop because it fills a niche that literally didn't exist in Nashville. I love that I'll be able to try clothes on in person instead of relying totally on online shopping and the sad in-store plus options offered at many big box retailers.

No greeting from the proprietors, though I greeted them. They did agree to go through some items I brought with me, even though the process is usually to make an appointment. Sighing, they deigned to take a look at my clothes. I thanked them for reviewing my items without an appointment. Sorry to interrupt your convo, there was literally only one other person in the store, so I figured you'd have time. The signage around the store is pretty clear, so the dress I chose to try on I knew I would not get store credit for. When I dared to ask if I can try the dress on, they both quickly and sullenly let me know that that dress could not be bought on store credit. Cool, I can read. I merely wanted to try it on, and wasn't going to demand they let me use store credit. I have wracked my brain to every instance I have been in this store, to try to figure out why these two treat me like the garbage on their shoes. These two women had been super icy to me in the past - yes, I have been a customer there more than once - but today was the worst. Not only were they so icy today, it was almost hostile, the difference between the way they treated me, and the way they nicely interacted with both the woman who was checking out when I got there, and the woman who was shopping when I was checking out was glaring. You can keep your rip off level store credit - I will not be returning to your shop. You are not the only plus sized resale game in town. Surely, some others will be at least professional and kind. I do NOT recommend this store to anyone, the mean girls running it do not deserve your business. Fellow plus sized ladies, do yourselves a favor and look elswhere. I can only hope that karma comes around for them sooner than later

The blocks occupied feel like its own little community in the middle of the bigger city. It definitely has it's own vibe and is uniquely East Nashville. When we are in East, we normally make it point to stop in a shop or two. International Coffee, Galena Garlic and Adobe Mercantile are usually spots we frequent when wandering around, and Gift Horse is a cool place for a quirky or local gift for folks. Food wise, Maru and East Creamery are always on point and hit the spot! Hours of each shop differ, so make sure you look specifically at the hours of the places you want to visit. There is no real consistency amongst the shops from an overall hours perspective, which can be a tad frustrating. Parking is a bit wonky as well, nothing really dedicated at all times. There are a few pay lots nearby and street parking is plentiful in the area. Overall, Shoppes on Fatherland is a cool East community and is a good spot to spend a little time when you have nothing going on. It's always an after or before dinner/drink place for us.

When I tried to return this, the receipt was somehow lost so they would not take the dress back. Within 7 days, they were evidently unable to pull the purchase from my account. I keep running into issues with the sizing and selection of clothes so haven't been able to find anything that worked to return on previous purchase. The other top I bought for $60 has shrunk after one wash and no longer fits. So many items are way too cropped or transparent. I think the quality here has gone way down. I also purchased a denim skirt with shorts under thinking the shorts would help with the length of the skirt. Because of the return policy, I don't have the option to dispute the transaction from my credit card since I've had to use store credit.

Suddenly, he told me it was "rude" to do that in a small business. Completely unnecessary, especially since he'd already told me the brand. The whole exchange was embarrassing and left me feeling unwelcome. I decided not to buy the ring, returned it to its display, and left. Later, I found out he even asked my sister if I had "walked out with the ring." Accusing a customer of theft after they politely put something back is beyond insulting.
