I'm not one for trying to get a date over the fruit and veg aisle but I did appreciate going here back in my singleton days because I didn't feel like the only loner in the world and it made shopping that little bit more enjoyable.

Generally what supermarkets do is under sell their media products in order for you to spend more money on other things in the shop, great when you only go in there to buy the films then. And finally, it is the only place I've ever seen that sells this strawberry and lime cider, I'm not joking when I say I'm probably keeping that company afloat on my own with the amount I've bought.

By the time you add on the cost of petrol to get to a larger supermarket, it is worth paying the slightly higher prices in this store. The staff are all locals and most have been there since the store opened. It has free parking for about a dozen cars, but that is sufficient as many of their customers are pedestrians. The village post office is also located inside the store.

I like Lidl. It's inexpensive and its easy. And by inexpensive, I don't mean cheap. They very…read morecarefully pare down the extras to ensure a quick, efficient and low cost operation. Where the local Tesco might have five or six brands of a product, at Lidl there will be two. Usually only one. And this means that they can put out more product for shopping. I would find it difficult if Lidl was my regular shopping destination because there are certain things that I want that they don't ever stock. Pita breads, good ground coffee, bagels and hummus are some examples. But what they do have is generally exactly what I want. So I don't mind spending less at Lidl and using Tesco or Asda to fill in the blanks. Lidl does not accept credit cards. This is again to help keep their costs down. They do accept cash, of course. And they will be happy to accept your debit card. But Visa and MasterCard and definitely American Express are not welcome here. (You know that V/MC/AX charge upwards of 2.5% to the vendor, right?) Lidl started the trend of chaining up the shopping trolleys ("carts" or "wagons" might be your terms) and requiring a deposit to unlock them. You get the deposit back when you return the carts. It helps them to keep the costs down since they don't have to employ a cart wrangler, but I seem to forget this when I go shopping and I don't have a £1 coin.

While you won't find the finest cuts of chiselled sirloin on these shelves, you will find a fair few items that warrant a double take as you wander around the aisles. With items as cheap as single figure prices and a varied selection on general cupboard fillers, Lidl is the ideal place to shop if you're looking to shave a few unnecessary pounds off the weekly shopping bill. From fresh vegetables and fruit to canned goods and frozen foods, as well as a large selection of beers, wines and spirits, Lidl have a lot more to offer than most would even realise. They also boast an ever-changing range of homeware, which varies monthly, so it's always worth checking back to see what's on offer from time to time. In recent years, the chain store has seen a faster rapid growth spurt than you're average steroid abuser and you can now find a Lidl outlet in most towns and cities across the country. If you want to save yourself bit of extra cash, this is the place to go for the weekly groceries.

I duly obliged . The he asked if he could look in my bag , There was a half drunk bottle of water in my bag, he asked "have you paid for that?" I had to think for a moment as I wasn't sure if I had picked it up in your store. It was a very hot day and I normally carry a bottle of water in my bag; I remember taking one from my car earlier, but I wasn't sure if that was the same bottle. So apologised and said that I must have absent mindedly put it in my bag after drinking some in the store. I offered to pay, still not sure wheather it was my bottle or yours. The Store Detective then said to me "you have done this before with some clothing, the security guard recognised you as he stopped you last time". I was absolutely dumbfounded! I have never ever been stopped by any security guard in your store, 'or any store for that matter.' I responded that "this is mistaken identity as I have never been stopped in this store before; I requested to see the CCTV footage, but was refused . The Store Detective said he would get the security guard out to ID me which he did; I told him that he was mistaken and requested once again to see the Cctv footage. I was refused and told I would have to ask the police . I responded well call the police. Then the store detective told me not to raise my voice (well excuse me, I am 62yrs of age and have never encountered this in my life. I have video footage and so does your store. I would like to request the CCTV footage of who the security guard thinks that I am regarding the clothing. If this CCTV footage is not available I require a sworn statement from the security guard regarding this event as this is slander and defamation of my character. I also request to see the CCTV footage of the water incident. Kind Regards

You have to commute, there's nowhere around for an after work drink and getting a decent lunch is near impossible. Which is why I'm oh so grateful to Sainsbury's in East Filton. This large supermarket was a mecca for office workers for miles around. With shelves filled with fresh sandwiches, a fully stocked salad bar and fast cashiers it's always easy to get a quick, tasty lunch here. But the reason that this Sainsbury's will always stick in my mind is the tasters it does on a daily basis. Not to make myself sound too cheap, but I always looked forward to my lunch time trip to Sainsbury's with my colleagues for a free shot of wine, a taste of local cheddar and a bite of chocolate cake - perfect for those on a budget!
