If you are looking for kind, caring and top notch care for your pet Dr.Johnson and staff are your best friends. They ARE worth the wait and possibly less convenient office hours, although he gives you an email address to stay in contact. Our dogs are family members and that is how we are treated by staff and Dr. Johnson. He won't do and prescribe stuff just to do it. He reviews everything with you and explains his rationale behind all of his actions so you are totally involved with your pet's care. He often will get on the ground with your pet to see, feel and observe. He was making detailed notes and printing them for you after reading your pet's file in front of you before it became fashionable for doctors to do this. Our 13 year old kitty boy, Theo, recently developed lumps on his left jaw/neck area. Ten days ago we took him to Dr. Johnson to be evaluated. Dr. Johnson said that we had a few options, from biopsying it to get an idea what we were dealing with (though he thought there was a 90% chance it would come back malignant), to going ahead with an excision or just leaving it be since it wasn't hurting or hindering him. He told us there were no wrong answers. After thinking it over, we decided to go for the excision and hope for the best. This morning we dropped our boy off. However, around noon we received a call from Dr. Johnson, who explained that during his pre-op examination he noticed that the area had grown in the last 10 days and there was an additional nodule that hadn't been there before. He recommended that we NOT do the surgery since, in his opinion, it wouldn't be in Theo's best interest. He was now 95% certain that the area was malignant and that the cancer would grow back within weeks, even before he was fully recovered. Dr. Johnson did NOT have to tell us this. There would have been no way for us to have known that the cancer might grow back quickly, or even that the lumps had grown to a discernible degree in the last 10 days and just gone ahead with the scheduled surgery. Instead, he wanted to save us $800 (which included all pain meds, antibiotics and a full dental cleaning) and unnecessary pain and discomfort for our old boy. He also did not charge us for today's visit, even though Theo was there all day before I could pick him up. We have been referred to a veterinary oncologist should we decide to pursue a different course. I am grateful for Dr. Johnson's honesty and integrity. I started seeing Dr. Johnson over 4 years ago for the care of my Chihuahua mix. It has been clear from the beginning that Dr. Johnson and his staff have your pet's health interest and comfort as their first priority. He takes his time with all exams, seeks input, and has never pushed any treatment beyond a reasonable starting point. And here is something you won't find just anywhere... Dr. Johnson provides an email address for you to keep him posted with your pet's progress and in my experience, he has been very responsive! In my case he confirmed that the treatment was doing what he had hoped for and was able to adjust one of the meds. I love this! I am blessed to live in close proximity to the clinic, but it would be worth the trip were I not! read more

Certainly not enough to give three stars. Anyway, Dr. Johnson and his staff have taken care of my dogs for seven years. This place is the best - honest, clean, and love animals. There simply is not a word to describe Dr. Johnson. We had used Johnson Vet. for our two Pomeranians for their entire lives. Dr. Johnson and his staff had always cared for our pups as they were their own and treated us as part of the family. Unfortunately, the pups passed about five years ago of old age. I also have had a Koi Pond for the last 15 years without any problems until a few months ago. I started losing my koi one after another to Parasites and disease. I called Dr. Johnson to the rescue. Dr. Johnson went above and beyond to help me to save what was left of them, and also get the pond treated and ready for new fish. He visited my house several times and continuously communicated with me through text and phone calls for a couple of months until he had the problems solved and the pond under control. I am disappointed after 12 years with Johnson Vet. I felt the last few visits the rooms were not clean at all. Post surgery of a second cancer mass removal, my dog had to return twice with a terrible suture job and infection. No culture was ever taken at either time antibitic was initiated. Dr J never contacted me or spoke to me after mass removal or return visits. I was only told by tech they think they got it all ( After 3 weeks of worsening symptoms of infection and sutures open) I took my dog to an Emergency Vet and she was taken back to surgery that night. It was discovered she had MRSA (acquired in first surgery) after a culture. The area has healed great after they re-aligned skin area and re sutured sufficiently. She is finally healing well and she is now on long term antibiotics and care of another vet. read more

We took our three dogs for their first check up on this past Saturday. We were extremely pleased with the knowledge and time spent by all of the staff. From the minute we walked in and met Jessie who greeted us warmly and helped us get situated, he is awesome! To meeting the Vet and Vet tech and spending as much time as WE needed getting all of the check ups done, as well as answering my MANY questions I had about each dog and the continuing care for each. We were with a different vet office (2013 to early 2015) in the area before moving over to Johnson this year because we had a recent tragedy with one of our dogs this past Christmas. It was not exactly the fault of the vet(s) but it was something that was definitely overlooked and certainly exasperated by a medication they chose to use which led to losing our furry family member. It was devastating to say the least, and so I was very diligent in my search and research for a new vet. Dr Johnson and his staff came HIGHLY recommended from several sources, and I am so pleased we chose them. They are up to date on the latest research for what is best, not only for the animal but also the exact breed, they know their stuff! They may not be the fanciest office in town, but I don't mind it, because their care and concern (for their patients and the owners) is excellent, their prices are extremely reasonable and their knowledge is TOP KNOTCH! I am very happy with our new veterinarian family, and will continue to update you on our progress. I brought a rescue kitty in today to be neutered after being quoted $250 which would include ( office visit charge, surgery and rabies vaccine) When I arrived they said it would be $50 more because he needed distemper shot. I asked if it was required... we were already stretching it at $250... she said it's not legally required but their office requires it. I asked if that one shot was $50 and she couldn't really answer. I was confused why it jumped from 250 to 300??? There was no real explanation. I took the kitty and left after rearranging my entire AM. After being a customer 12 years I'm done. That isn't putting the animal first. All about the dollar!!! Shame on them. read more

We have used several local vets with all our furry critters over the years, and we are SO HAPPY to have met Erik and his fine crew of animal providers...Allison and Heather have made our little ones feel special, and Erik (Johnson) is just, well, THE BEST!!!! His sense of compassion, knowledge and experience are wonderful, and he and his staff have made the passing of our previous pets the most bearable anyone could, with their unique "last little pleasure" that they deliver to a terminal pet. Let start by saying that I am a 20 year customer of Dr. Johnson's and have been seeing him with numerous pets over the years. He is a fantastic veterinarian with genuine concern for your pet. Over the years however, his staff has deteriorated from a kind attentive one to a new "Too bad, so sad" one. My last three appointments had to be rescheduled because they were over an hour behind but they did not bother to call me to advise me of this. They just let me come in, wait 30 minutes and then asked if I would like to set up another time because it will be another hour. No apologies, no remorse, just "Hey, stuff happens". When I asked why I was not given a courtesy call to let me know this, they stared at me with a blank expression, like this was something they never thought of and had no idea how to answer that. Sadly, due to repetitive events as aforementioned, I will be switching vets immediately. I wish Dr. Johnson well but hope he sees merit in this review and takes the appropriate action. read more
