I went back today to order contacts and asked for a trial pair as I was on my way out of town and I needed contacts. His wife refused to give me a trail pair. Bad part she wouldn't come and tell me that she went and hide and told the receptionist to do it. I will never use them again. They have no desire to help and please a customer it's all about the money with them. Plus my glasses that I ordered through them paid $300 on top of insurance are crap. They are chipping away and breaking. Use Eye Specialist of mid Florida. They are so nice and will give you trials as many times as you want.

Up selling is another thing. Not everyone has a budget for the premiums. Not everyone fits their 3 options. If I cover one eye and test them this is what I see. I see extremely well out of my left eye. Switching eyes: My right eye is fuzzy and a tea color vision. I use readers to see up close for 25 years. I see great at a distance. I feel I only needed cataract surgery only on the right eye. But seeing that was not even an option nor did they strongly encourage a great out come even if I did both eyes with a premium lens in the right eye and the regular Medicare lens in the left. I just decided to go to another facility.

As for the actual eye surgery I think it was ok. As for the money side of things it was not ok. The…read moretotal cost was just under 7K for the lenses I selected. I paid for everything up front. My insurance covered $480. They apparently sent the money to Newsome instead of sending it to me directly. After only 2 calls It took Newsome 9 weeks to reimburse me my $480. It's not a lot of money but that's not right. Imagine 1000 patients at $480, close to 1/2 million making interest for him.

Once that was accomplished, the voice on the phone, with a snippy undertone, asked, "didn't they call you? We don't take (your insurance) anymore". I replied, "well that's that" and hung up. Aetna was very helpful in finding another provider, but Eye Specialists will always be a sore point with me.
