Buyer Beware !! Timothy B. Johnson does not come out to survey the property. He sends his field-worker out. I asked if his field-worker was licensed and certified. He said "No, he works under me". There is something not right here -- I'm not comfortable paying a surveyor $900 to survey my property, when he doesn't even come out to do his own measurements. read more

We hired Timothy B. Johnson of Johnson Surveying (timbjohnson@rcn.com) to complete a survey of our property in May of 2022. Tim was very responsive to my email, his prices were reasonable, and he scheduled our survey quickly - in fact, he came out the day we made settlement on our new house and staked the property that afternoon. Several weeks later after we had a fence installed, our neighbor claimed the fence was on her property. We contacted Mr. Johnson and he assured us his survey was accurate and that we should hold our ground (literally) and consult a lawyer. We had this conversation multiple times with him but he repeatedly insisted his survey was accurate so we consulted a lawyer and pushed back on the neighbors claim. Throughout several months of legal haggling where we regularly checked and double checked with Mr. Johnson, he maintained his survey was correct. A few days before we were supposed to appear in court against the neighbor, Timothy B. Johnson sent an email to us and our attorney saying his survey was inaccurate by 9 feet on both the left and right side of our yard. 9 FEET!!!! He advised us to move the fence and said he would pay for it. We have that in writing. Obviously we were angry but we paid the neighbor and requested the reimbursement from Mr. Johnson. People make mistakes and we tried to keep the attitude of: "OK, he finally admitted it. He can reimburse us and make it right and we move on. It stinks but it happens. We are all human" Well - of course when we reached out for reimbursement, Mr. Johnson balked. He said since our neighbor didn't name him directly in her suit, we could -- and I quote -- "go pound sand." The neighbor had no way of knowing who our surveyor was so of course she didn't name him directly. Timothy B. Johnson refused to pay even after admitting his wrong doing. We took Mr. Johnson to court; but he never bothered to show up so we were awarded a default summary judgement because again, we had evidence of him admitting he was wrong. He never paid us. We asked the court for a lien against his property but the business addresses he lists for Johnson Surveying are not owned by Timothy B. Johnson directly so we cannot use that avenue as recourse for payment. Timothy B. Johnson works in New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida. He continues to run a surveying company. He is unprofessional, irresponsible, and untrustworthy. Do not hire this person. (timbjohnson@rcn.com) read more

I am very disappointed with Johnson Surveying. Initially, the owner was very prompt on responding to my phone call to survey my lot. It's 2.97 acres with woods. I However, when they came out to start the job, it was just one guy. He told me the second worker who was supposed to work with him called in sick. I asked him if we should just reschedule. He said no, they would finish the second day, and the second guy would be there. So he started around 8 AM and was gone by 2 PM. Well, since then I haven't heard from anyone. They never did come back to finish surveying. It's been weeks! Today I got email from the owner Tim with a pdf map I paid $500 extra for but it's done on 11 x 17 paper... My printer doesn't do 11 x 17. I asked Tim to forward me a hard copy. I have no idea if or when that will happen. He was reminding me that payment is due. I asked him via email when they are coming out to finish surveying. I got the same answer as the first time...Tim isn't sure of his schedule, but most likely will come back this week. I heard that before when I initially made a call to Tim to find out when they would finish. Needless to say, I am NOT paying until this job is completed. I can't even get them to respond now when I owe them $2000. I am sure if I paid them now I would never get them to come back and finish at all. Very frustrating and unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Would not use again. Asked for an export of their survey collected points and never heard back. Prior to this request I asked for a GIS friendly survey map and no follow up was given. The map supplied to us was basic at best which maybe what a town requires, but no additional effort was made to include a legend, or or accurately named points. I do not recommend this company. 2 stars as they did deliver a basic functional map. read more

We are new in the neighborhood and needed a fence asap for our 3 dogs, The survey was done in a timely manner, and the information the town needed for the fence permit was sent right away. Tim was very accommodating and polite. Very good company! read more
