This is such a gem I will defiantly visit every time I'm in Toronto from now on. Honestly feels…read morelike you're in a store you'd find in akihabara. Expect figures stacked to the ceiling and very narrow isles it is very evident that this is a mostly online distributor. You would be wise to look at their stock online and do in store pick-up, the capacity of the store is very small like it's rough to have more than 5 customers browsing. There's a phone # on the door to call to be let inside. Which is pretty reasonable considering the amount of expensive merchandise and small capacity. Employees are very helpful! Since there's so many figures nothing is physically priced so you will probably end up using your phone to reference their website the whole time you are there. So if you're planning a trip check their stock online first! From what I saw the inventory is accurate and you will have a easier time knowing what you want already. Pricing is mostly retail sometimes a little inflated but considering you are in Canada and won't have to pay international shipping you can get some pretty good deals on rare and high demand figures. Also they have a fee membership program that gives you a nice % off. They also have a pretty big selection of gatcha and other anime merch which was a nice surprise ^^

It felt like it went on forever and had anything and everything a tabletop gamer / hobbyist / geek could ever dream of! There was even a space you could pay to play games / paint minis!

I've loved this shop for so many years, and I'm slapping myself why I haven't written a review yet…read more This is a hidden gem tucked in the basement next to the TD in Chinatown. One of the cheapest spots in the city to pick up a board game. The pros are they have a massive collection, a giant library filled with rows and rows of games and collectibles. If I'm in the area, I used to stop by to peruse because I'm that kind of geek. I honestly haven't made them exercise their customer service skills because I research my board games and know exactly what I want. But I can see that newbies could be overwhelmed with all the options coming in. We decided to buy a board game for a friend's child, age 6. My boyfriend ran off to find a game at Meeple without consulting me first. He came out empty-handed, saying there was nothing suitable for that age range. I'm SURPRISED. There's a board game for everything there. I'm not an expert for games for six-year-olds, so I just Googled, found a dad blog and decided Catan Junior was it and purchased online here. They processed our order immediately and were ready for pick up the same day if needed. The truth is my BF was about to check out at Indigo, which is 30% more before I reminded him to check at Meeple again for prices. The only difference *I think* is the packaging art is slightly different and the box is larger at Meeple. If their staff actively asks every customer walking in and tries to help, they can convert more casual or newbie gamers--what a lost opportunity.

Bunch of dishonest crooks run this store…read more I didn't know anything about weapons, so I got taken for a sucker by these sheisters. I bought a Beretta Elite II bb gun. Nick, the owner said that he sold the same gun yesterday to a customer for $225, and he was gonna give it to me for $180. Great, I thought. Then I went on the internet and realized that the same gun is actually a piece of crap and can be ordered from any website for $50!!! Guy charged me $180 for a $50 gun. Don't even think of buy knives, they're all marked up 2 or 3 times the retail value as well. Of course I went back and confronted Nick. He had the nerve to play dumb, saying things like "oh, it's not the same online" even though it was the exact same model. I even printed the page off the website and showed it to him. HE STILL DENIED IT, to my face, and tried to call ME an idiot and a liar who didn't know what I was talking about. These guys either don't know the retail value of anything in their store, or they deliberately play stupid. I ended up getting store credit after a long argument. These guys will rip you off without blinking an eye, and they do it by acting like the friendliest sales people. Horrible business practices. If you're gonna buy anything from there, don't pay a cent over 1/2 of the marked price. They will say "oh we gotta make a living too", but you have to be firm and tell them straight up that you know what the retail value is, and that's all you're willing to pay. Don't be suckered by these dirty Greeks like I did. I said "Nick, look me in the eye and tell me, as a man, that you did not just rip me off by over $100." Nick muttered some incoherent reply about being Greek and wouldn't hold eye contact.

The staff are usually friendly with me, but they always seem to want to engage in some kind of right-wing conversation, despite my repeated attempts to subtly signal that, 'yeah, thanks but I just want to be going'. The last time I was there they charged me $10 for a 50' length of paracord (the market value is about $5). Another indicator of their markup would be the price for those basic foil emergency blankets from Coghlan's: MEC on King St. has them for $1.75. Central surplus wants about $5. For a big piece of paper-thin foil. After bringing up my purchase, the woman behind the counter wanted to keep complaining to me about NAFTA--god, how old is THAT political chestnut? Bottom line: The only surplus store downtown, but avoid it if you can. You'll pay too much and possibly be creeped out by the overly opinionated staff. Maybe try save-more next to Moss Park.
