Needed to repair backyard gate. John did a great job. Was fast and reasonably priced.

A couple of years ago I needed a person to weld some aluminum for me. I was building a dual camera mount for my power wheelchair. I called a few nearby places that I found online, but all I got were receptionists. They told me to come by, drop off my material and drawings/notes, and they would need 3-5 business days. Because I was attempting to design something, I needed to interact directly with whoever was going to do the work. That's when my persistence paid off. Third place I called was John. He called me back within ten minutes, and about an hour later I was at his shop, located in his garage. I stayed in my van and he came out to patiently listen to my gobblygook explanation. Once he understood enough, he proceed to build up to a point. He then texted me to come back for a test fit and clarification on finishing my contraption. My project was complete by the next afternoon, and the price was more than fair. About a month later, I had redesigned my camera mount, and we built a second one out of steel. I was very happy with the job, and his input made my design far better than what my original idea was. I'll get some minor welding, or cutting done every now and then, and John communicates very well, works fast, and is reasonably priced. My dad hired John to weld a custom fireplace log-holder thing (I have no idea what they're actually called) for a custom-built outdoor triangular fireplace. With a simple set of measurements, John was able to build a very, VERY robust grate that fits my fireplace perfectly. This thing is definitely sturdy. I've already had an inaugural fire with it, and it easily withstood temperatures that went well beyond the 1200ºF limit of my infrared thermometer. I feel as though this is going to last for quite a good number of years, even being subjected to constant outdoor exposure in the desert plus raging hot fires a couple times per month. The bolts that held the stabilizer jacks on my travel trailer had been falling out or breaking off. Talk about dangerous...what if a stabilizer jack fell off while I was on the road? It almost happened. Finally, I decided that replacing bolts was not going to be a permanent solution, so I decided to have the stabilizer jacks permanently welded to the frame. The problem is that I had almost no time to deal with finding a welder, going to a shop, and waiting for the work to be done. I looked on Yelp for mobile welders in the area, sorted by highest star ratings, and called John. He's super-friendly and filled with metal-working insight. We agreed to meet in the open wasteland that is a Walmart parking lot, and he showed up with his heavy-duty welding truck and got to work. I needed a couple aluminum angle brackets welding to install so custom lights on my bike. I called him and dropped of the parts, he understood what I wanted and two hours later he called and said the parts are ready. The brackets worked great and are installed on the bike. I am a restaurant owner. I needed a mobile welder and chose John based on his reviews. Consider this new review as you make your choices. On March 22, 2018 I had John replace the handle for flat top cover for an open pantry salad chiller on the cooks line. It snapped off last week. He's not going to warranty it because of abuse. RIDICULOUS! Let me tell you how little abuse this gets. I've been open for 10 years. First time I had to repair this was 3 months ago. I'm open 6 days a week. We take the lids off when we open up for business at 11am, and we leave it off all day. We put it back on at 10pm when we close. It gets stored next to the other 3 (I have 4 lids total, refer to the pictures which shows you where I store it and how it's used). Bottom line, this guy is in it for the money. I wasted $160 on him Screwing the handle in (he said he couldn't weld it). Obviously the handles not the only thing that got screwed. There's a lot of welders out there, shop around. BTW. He quoted $300 to replace this pin for the cutting boards. Glad I said no to that one. read more

I waited almost 2 weeks for a different business to fix my Jeep, but I kept getting the runaround. I was really frustrated until I found John. John is an old school, do it right kinda guy. He says what he means, and does what he says. I was impressed that he didn't just look at what was broken and how to fix it. He wanted to figure out why it broke to start with so he wasn't just putting a bandaid on it by rewelding a part that was already over stressed. It would have just broken again, probably on the trail. He wanted exactly what I did, to fix it right the first time and then never have to touch it again. He came out the next morning to look at it and worked out the best solution. He even helped me out by letting me do all the prep work so the job wouldn't cost as much, not that he was charging much to start with. He even came out to fix it on a Sunday since I had already been waiting so long for that other company, who still haven't gotten back to me yet. Most importantly, he succeeded in figuring out why my trackbar mount broke in the first place. So with the new flex joints I installed it probably wouldn't have ever happened, but unfortunately I found John too late. Better late than never though, because John is my go to welder for anything I need in the future. Thanks John! Happy trails TLDR: John knows his trade inside and out.
